  1. Past hour
  2. The reporter who interviewed him cleared up the out of context comment.
  3. So Frank Christie and Rip Simonick would not have had great careers?
  4. He's having a rough start to the season and now at age 32 he's probably lost a step in addition to any lost from his reconstructed knee. He has only 1 goal on the season, though he had another wiped out by an offside challenge. But you know come playoff time if he's healthy he'll be a contributor along the wall and in front of the net.
  5. What is the question, who asked it, and what context goes with the quote? Another wonderful nugget of sports news from the internets. I think we have to give him sometime to acclimate. The Quick Look report says he starts on the 3rd pair. What he does with this opportunity will be up to him, but let’s give him a chance. I did notice that Ray and Dan called out the Utah fans for cheering the wrong thing a few times. Many do not understand the nuances of the game, but they really like the action and effort.
  6. I'm also a pretty big fan of Ruff but I think he messed with Tage too much. Called him out as a C last year, moved him to wing. This year mostly at wing, but then back to center. When the team started struggling to score goals you stuck him with 2 AHL guys who he never even practiced with. Hey, Tage isn't a perfect player but he's the best goal scorer this team has seen in a while...and on a team that has trouble scoring goals stop messing with him and his role on the team.
  7. If they want a buy low candidate, Owen Tippet from the flyers, having a real bad start of the season.
  8. A couple of our boys would be sitting if Jim Montgomery was coaching.
  9. Well they barely played that night, so they should have some energy. Image that... Gabe Landeskog on your 3RD LINE, WOW. WHAT A LIFE TO LIVE.
  10. The NHL may very well be stepping in behind closed doors with Terry is my suspicion. He’s damaged an organizational brand for so long now and the NHL has to be feeling the financial as well as optics hit, albeit small market such as it is it was prior to Pegula a solid entrenched small market following the bankruptcy years. Just my hunch is all.
  11. Today
  12. This is the cast of characters responsible for the current condition of our Buffalo Sabres? (Just to clarify, does Eric Stahl really have a GM title?) Can only imagine what the players think. Would fire Ruff, every Assistant Coach, and evaluate the entire Scouting group. Also evaluate the Conditioning Staff and the Medical Staff. Make some changes Pegula.
  13. Until Benson returns and a "first" scoring line can be cobbled together (Benson-Östlund-TNT, perhaps), I'd be tempted to try: Doan - McLeod - Tuch Rosen - Östlund - Quinn Greenway - Kozak - Thompson Malenstyn - Krebs - Dunne
  14. This is a non story as it concerns Kesselring, who I don’t fault. He is probably talking about the booing and short fuse of home crowds. Buffalo crowds were once very positive, as were Sabre fans in general. What other NHL city could understand the number that’s been done to Sabre fans over the last 10 years, even the last 6 years. Our cheapskate owner doesn’t value coaching, scouting or the work of competent hockey executives; otherwise he would have hired competent people by now. Pegula runs the team so as not to lose money day to day, while the team’s value continues to rise. Pegs is such a haircut, he doesn’t even pretend to care about winning.
  15. I think he can be a functional 2C, if you had a 1st line that was going. The problem is, he hasn't really looked good with Tage any time they've been put together. I believe he played some 1C at points last year when we had some injuries and it didn't go well. But later in the year when Benson Kulich Thompson was working, McLeod was producing very well in the 2C spot. We all knew that probably was not sustainable but some of this is on the coach. Doan McLeod Tuch was a good line and Lindy obliterated it when we could have tried Tage at C and not break up their best line this year.
  16. I have been very disappointed with McLeod this season. Over the offseason I was one of the posters banging the drum to get him signed medium-to-long term and loved his game last year. This year, not so good... With that said, he functions best with 3rd line even strength minutes/ice time (13-14 minutes even strength), and then being your #1 PK guy (another 2-3 minutes per game) so he totals about 15-17 minutes per game. He's getting about 18 minutes now. Not too much over what you want him to, but still over. The bigger issue though is what he is asked/expected to do in that time.
  17. Matt Ellis.
  18. Maybe some magical beers with that!? Big mugs full. Eyes up mister! 👆🏼
  19. Simply amazing that Terry has ruined my love of the Sabres. Cheap bastard billionaire. I hate him 😡
  20. I think he’s implying the job isn’t getting done, go get the guy that can get it done.
  21. I hope your are correct with this contrarian view.
  22. Rome burns and Pegula (aka Nero) fiddles.
  23. Given (injured when they acquired him) Norris was 1C and 21 year-old Kulich was 2C with 63 career games played... and the other options going into the season were Krebs and Danforth (with Kozak as 13F because Geertsen had to play).... Yeah, it was actually pretty likely in the event Kulich hit any sort of sophomore slump.
  24. I’m not really surprised Kesselring is struggling some in his new role. His partner most of last season was defense first seasoned vet Ian Cole. I also wrote that he was a third pairing guy worthy of 17 minutes a night and that the best part of his game was offense as evidenced by his 29 pts last year. I think he is good player and a solid D in general but we were trying to get a partner for Power who needs an Ian Cole not a Kesselring.
  25. He keeps losing his first faceoff taken of the third period... like, one time, his stick was outside his skates... something's fishy.
  26. I don't want Ted Lasso as coach but would consider a Coach Beard and Roy Kent combo.
