I don't know what the Tuch contract situation is. He may just ride it out and put himself on the market to sign with another team that will put him in a better hockey situation. The sad and embarrassing reality is that the Sabres are one of the top teams most cited on NMCs. Most high-end players have no interest in coming here, and to make it even worse, the downtrodden Sabres have an ignominious history of their better players wanting out of this cesspool. This franchise created its own crippling stench.

I think any conversation would have started with our unprotected 1st plus Byram or Power then 1 or 2 other assets. The draft pick would give them an extra shot at McKenna probably. I don't see why we do it without a commitment.

I don’t know if it’s the lower quality of goaltending around the league or waiver rules, but there’s been more of it. I know Carolina has 3 right now. And if you want high quality hockey coverage, you should check out what they have going here. I turned it on randomly a day or two ago and they were talking about potential trade targets for Anderson. The host seriously offered up Buffalo and Tage Thompson as an option. This guy is officially the Wookiee of Carolina coverage.

I think the Sabres interest was probably very little. Sure there might have been a phone call but Hughes coming here would have been the same as if he stayed in Vancouver. No way he would sign here so it would have been crazy to give up anything meaningful to rent him.

I could accept Appert with an interim tag I suppose, with an extended audition, will the Sabres evaluate other candidates. I would hope they'd wait until the season is completely over and they have a chance to see which coaches are available before settling on Appert (yes, settling is what it feels like)>
