Would the Bills have been better with Worthy is what I cared about on draft day. I do think they would be but that ship sailed. I want more speed on that offense. They passed on rare speed for a more physical possession WR. You keep calling him "off the ball", who cares were he lines up. Reid uses his players in the way that maximizes them and helps the team, which make him a great coach. Coleman has had serious trouble getting open. Right now it sure seems like when they have to pass Allen has trouble finding a receiver.

Now that there is more net front presence I am wondering if someone can get Dahlin and Tage to be a more selective at bombing the net from distance? If you have a crowd in font of the net you want to place your shots more than rip them. I am getting tired of watching Dahlin bomb from the blueline and if he starts hitting our own people they are going to be more selective when they do go to the net. Tage trys different ways to score and really scores from the front of the net more than people think but the power play is not working with those two ripping from low danger areas. Get those pucks to drop in the mixer and fight for the bounces.

I’m in no way implying Coleman is better than Worthy, nor do I really care. I don’t spend a second regretting a player we never had, anyway. My only point is that the Bills and other teams had reason to take a pass on Worthy given that he is an undersized, strictly off ball receiver. As to the Brady scheme, it is diametrically opposed to Reid’s given his reliance on heavy packages and the emphasis on the run game, as borne out by the fact that we run the ball more than any other team. It is an absolute requirement that his receivers be good blockers as a result. I’m sure Brady would love nothing more than a speed burner at the X who is big and can block. Who wouldn’t?

Samuelsson is playing better than he has on a long time. A bright spot actually. Power seems about the same to me. 1 goal, 3 points, and -5. I see no step up in his game or any inkling that he is going to be more physical this season. Dahlin after 10 games in has 0 G, 7 pts, and is a -8. Still logging a lot of minutes and taking a lot of shots - but he is not himself. They need much more from him if they are going to endure a long season and make the playoffs Byram is playing well. Timmins has been a good add. Really helping the PK too. Kesselring has only played one game. He looked rusty with his passes, but he also looked like a smart player that plays with good positioning and with leverage. Bryson has not hurt them in his 5 games. We have seen the best that he has, he is a 7/8 fill in guy. Ryan Johnson didn't do much good or bad, but he does not seem to be a Lindy Ruff guy. Metsa is a good story and he can hold up for a few games as a call up 8/9 guy. Like Bryson, too small.

They need someone better than Worthy.

What scheme is the Bills offense under Brady? Coleman is also scheme limited as well and he can be covered, often blanketed, by one CB with no deep help. Coleman may win the contested jump ball situations but that is a dangerous way to scheme a play.

I coached youth hockey for 6 years, and I managed a high school hockey club as Board President for another 5 years. My experience was most of the parents are good people, understanding, and supportive. Unfortunately not all. The way some parents acted toward referees of all ages was disturbing. I had my hands full at times. Some parents were also pretty brutal with comments to the coaches, many of whom were volunteers. And of course some were rough on their own kids. I know of a few kids that dreaded the car ride home.

He's missed fewer games than Coleman, scores touchdowns, and is the X receiver the Bills desperately need.
-
I think Östlund at 3C provides more offensive potential. I would put Greenway in for Dunne on the fourth line but whatever.

Our center spine is not playoff caliber as is. Apologies to McCloud who is.

And yet the TNT and ESPN hockey announcers were all ooohhing and ahhhing at what Tage brings. What Tage needs is a playmaking center. He is winger that can finish, and he has some ability to create space for himself. He is almost like a Rick Martin without a Gil Perreault. Or an Alex Mogilny without a Pat LaFontaine.

Statistically, we’ll know by American Thanksgiving.

This would not at all surprise me...

Agreed with this. When I've seen him, he's mostly looked over-matched and a half step behind the play. I don't fault his effort, though -- he seems to have been working hard.

By the end of December you will know who the Sabres actually are. November 2021-22 3-9-2 2022-23 4-9-1 2023-24 6-6-2 2024-25 7-6-1 December 2021-22 2-6-2 2022-23 8-2-1 2023-24 5-8-2 2024-25 3-9-2

I’d trade Power for Will Smith 1-1

I mean does it really matter in terms of faceoffs? Outside Norris who was legitimately excellent at them until seriously injuring himself by taking one inexplicably, nobody on this team is good at them. Perhaps his length could be an asset and help shut down passing lanes?

Again, thus the reason for the question mark after "only." BUT Samuelsson HAS been jumping up into the rush, sometimes even being the Sabre going to the net, which is not something defensive defensemen do on a regular basis (other than his OT goal, did Lybushkin EVER join a rush while wearing B&G?). Don't consider him to be a true 2-way guy; but he's been playing the sort of game than Ruff expected from him when he signed on to replace Granato. But for RIGHT NOW, he's playing that way. And, yes, he is playing differently than Timmons is at present. Will that continue? No data. But hope it does, because right now, both of those guys are helping the team win games and stay competitive in the ones they don't win.
