  1. Past hour
  2. This is exactly it. Adams has utterly bungled this team's goaltending situation. He's made a complete hash of it. His hubris with Levi is a key factor as well.
  3. While I don’t apologize for exercising my 1st Amendment rights, it’s unfortunate that you took such umbrage to what once was a common expression back in the 70s. I’ll chalk it up to the large generation gap that I presume exists between us. It’s also unfortunate that you took my sincere effort to clarify as a feeble attempt to “explain it away.” I didn’t think I needed to “explain it away” in the first place. If my “F off and die” post about Musk was the day this forum “crossed the line” then perhaps this is a fitting as my last post for me in this forum as the issue has now come full circle. Maybe I’ll give in to the nostalgia bug and order up one of these: https://vintagesponsor.com/products/70-s-80-s-*****-off-and-die-t-shirt-s-m In the meantime, please accept my sincere wish to you and yours for all the good this world has to offer. Peace.
  4. As you point out, the McDavid deal is a contract that specifically deals to his situation. It made a lot of sense for him to get a bridge deal that will get him to the next NHL elevated financial agreement. The player and his representatives made a deal that they believed was in his best interest. How does this contract affect Tuch? I don't think it does. Tuch is in a much different situation. He's now in his prime and in a few years he will probably be on a downslide. So maybe he would rather lock in a longer-term deal now. What's also interesting is how does the Sabre organization view the Tuch contract scenario. Would they rather give him a bulked up short-term deal or give him a longer deal that will carry them over into the new NHL higher cost landscape? What makes the situation more complicated for all parties is that next year the financial landscape will change and everyone will have to adjust to that richer reality. The players who will be the most affected are players such as Dahlin and Tage who already have signed long-term contracts and will soon have undervalued contracts.
  5. Kind of like building from the net out using castoffs and the waiver wire.
  6. I think a lot of this is rewarding people who have been part of the Cup runs and an attempt to extend their window of opportunity by a few years. They could just gradually fade away like Pittsburgh. I prefer this more than the cutthroat approach Vegas took. Pittsburgh should have moved on from their old core before now though but I like that the “wiz” GM Kyle Dubas continues to flounder. I better watch what I say, TP could hire him down the road.
  7. True but there is an discussion in this thread about extending players beyond their early thirties. Florida now has 9 contracts that go beyond that. He did not have to make that many of those deals. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Just pointing it out because we have zero contracts like that except the Skinner buyout.
  8. Correct. Everyone on the team has to toughen up and have a pack mentality. There aren’t many “staged” fights anymore because most teams don’t want the hassle of carrying someone who is a liability and only gives you 5 minutes. They would rather pay a semi tough guy who can play 10 minutes in another role and hold his own if things get out of hand. Ryan Reaves did not help the Leafs last year.
  9. Teams will spend too the cap. McDavid deal doesn't change that.
  10. They've won 2 Cups in a row.
  11. Today
  12. I just added Mikkola to Florida's list as he signed an 5x8 at 29 years old. They are up to 9 long term contracts for players well into the 30's. Time will tell if this does not blow up in Zito's face.
  13. It’s a symptom
  14. Hope it stays this way. I doubt it.
  15. Yes that where I was going... we have solid AHLers at the NHL level... and the beat goes on....
  16. Yeah, disheartening isnt it... Pegula is either gonna get it or he isnt.... I think as long as the Stadium is number 1 he isnt gonna get it.... my only hope is that he is not absolutely Tommy "the pinball wizard" (IYKYK lol) and will turn some attention after this thing is done... but if you ask me to bet... we are gonna see this as long as he owns the team...
  17. I would like to see anyone but Tre out there at this point. Why not try Ingram and see if he has some juice. I'm hoping that one or both of Strong and Hairston are able to return this season. It's the Micah Hyde effect with Strong -- vague neck injuries and consultations with out of town specialists seem ominous. And I think it's 50-50 that they'll redshirt Hairston. Really good takes -- except re: the uniforms. I still thought those were sorta cool. (I have the emotional maturity of a 14 year old.)
  18. Shut it down, but it really makes no difference one way or the other as the same small handful of participants really doesn’t do anything to further discussion anyway. It’s all an exercise in futility and a microcosm of where we are as a country. But thanks for taking the time and making the effort to moderate nonetheless.
  19. Mixed weekend for the purple army. A 5-1 walloping away to Guildford followed by a 3-2 win in Sheffield. Highlight for the Clan included a 3 point weekend for early POTY candidate Tristan Langan. Poolman also grabbed another assist. However having played more matches in the league than their rivals, the clan currently sit in first place. Long may it continue. NO HIGHLIGHTS AVAILABLE AS I TYPE THIS.
  20. Selling out the arena for the opening game is not an achievement, especially when a quarter or more of the fans are rooting for the visiting team. Regardless what the announced attendance was for games last year, when I watched the games I saw a lot of empty seats that belied the announced tickets sold. When a person has a purchased ticket and can’t go to the game and can’t give it away, that is telling and an indictment. I want the Sabres to succeed and am rooting for them. But what I see is what I see.
  21. What's funny is this team could have Bernard-Docker or Grezlyc for basically the same money but went with Jones and Bryson. Just amazing how much they mismanaged the easy parts.
  22. I think that's a problem. If you aren't willing to defend yourself or you teammates because Gertie is sitting on the bench, your team is going to be weaker not stronger. Not saying that's what will happen but toughness is a team effort.
  23. Going to a game with cheap tickets is a nice thing to do when there is nothing to do.
  24. https://www.justice.gov/usao-mn/pr/minnesota-state-senator-charged-attempted-coercion-and-enticement-minor Using a term coined by a pedophile, I expected nothing less.
  25. KC still lost so....
  26. Rangers must have a lot of fans that relocated
  27. NYC college students?
