  1. Past hour
  2. I think only @inkman may have the ability to see what I see.
  3. Your last sentence captures essence that systemic losing is so corrosive and demoralizing to competitive players.
  4. So when do we all turn on JJ for asking out?
  5. All the negative conditions you list can't be disputed. My worry is that there have been some reported rumblings made by Dahlin that the organization has to show that it is serious about changing things here to get on track. If he reaches that FU get me out of here threshold, then this franchise will have fallen completely into the abyss. And if Tuch doesn't want to sign another contract, that will be another indication that the players (insiders) know how bad things are within this ill-franchise. On a positive note, I really believe that if this front office, with the help of the former GM, can make a few consequential moves and do it adroitly without gutting the roster, there will be a glimmer of hope. I apologize for repeating myself but I strongly believe that if the goalie position is strengthened, that will be the most impactful move this franchise can make. That is not to say that other moves don't need to be made but the biggest bang for the buck is associated with that position. Losing Ullmark was a setback that hurt this franchise. I consider him to be a solid goalie and not an upper echelon goalie. With that type of backstopping this team is much better. Needless to say, this offseason is going to be intriguing to follow. The Sabres don't attract much attention from the hockey world during the season. Ironically, they may be the most compelling story this offseason.
  6. His leverage was provided on day 1 of this regime “we want players who want to be here” I could have read one post more but no
  7. As with a lot of players that have come and gone in the Pegula era, they are put in positions they aren't qualified to perform them. The Sabres in large part have had many more roster construction issues than they have actual player issues. We just ask too many players to do more than they are capable of.
  8. Well said, Archie. Think your post captures the likely given reality most Sabres are experiencing in unspoken public disappointment or discontent. There is no quick fix with Pegula and Adams in place, imo. Prime years wasted by disrespect for the players. Money is not the currency of the spirit.
  9. Peterka for Crouse and Kesserling, I’d certainly do that type of move or that exact move Id even add to it if Utah thought they needed a bit more
  10. I think some players probably look at the Sabres and can’t come up with a team that they would less like to play for. 14 years out of the playoffs, meddling owner, incompetent 1st time GM about to get his 6th year, oldest coach in the league who finished near the top of “coach I wouldn’t want to play for” polling this year, no front office accountability, an eroding fan base, etc.. Then they look around and see all these former Sabres thriving. Nobody is going to look down on a good player for not wanting to be a Sabre. There is no downside to wanting out and asking for it. You won’t be labeled a malcontent or a problem player by the rest of the NHL, for wanting out of Buffalo There is no situation in the league worse. So why not tear off the bandaid and do what you need to do to get out now.
  11. No one is going to build a team around him or mistake him for an offensive dynamo, but Rodrigues is defensively sound and an excellent complementary piece to a line. This season, he spent the bulk of his time with Barkov-Reinhart. Then, last night, he was in the opening lineup with Tkachuk-Bennett, knowing that McDavid-Draisaitl was going to play together from the first shift.
  12. Today
  13. What's the source of JJP's "apparent" disgruntlement? Is it the "Jack" syndrome where he feels stuck in a losing system and irrelevant franchise? Or is it he just wants out for a change for the sake of change? Every year the Sabre players are watching the playoffs from their couches. That's got to bother them watching players they know having that opportunity while they don't. The underlying fear for many Sabre fans (me included) is that he gets dealt and has a breakout year. The recurring scene of former Sabres wearing other jerseys and thriving has to stop.
  14. Ya know?!… I was having a nice morning and then you go and bring up Kreuger!!! Of the the 14 year drought, his years were absolutely some of the most awful hockey I have ever watched. Maybe some of the most awful hockey that’s ever been played by any team ever. It’s actually pretty amazing (and disgusting) what we Sabres fans have been subjected to.
  15. Guessing Jarmo told them they need to at least be open to the idea. If Adams wants this to go away he just has to sign Peterka, it's pretty easy.
  16. His Buffalo stat lines were 192 games 26 goals and 45 assists. I guess Pittsburgh and Colorado love getting rid of players that go onto win Stanly cups since they did not want to pay him. He is a good player now. he was a marginal player on a last place team for us.
  17. I really wonder where Florida would be without Marchand. As it often does playoff series come down to who has the most effective third line. The first and second lines cancel each other out. Florida counteracts the rush by trying to prevent it before it happens they are always pressing even away from the puck. The Oilers have a hard time breaking out. Florida is good about not turning over pucks in bad spots which would lead to more breakaways. The Oilers often have a hard time getting out of their own zone. When it's not going well for them they get hemmed in for long periods of time. Florida just has a more depth right now than the Oilers without Hyman in the Lineup.
  18. Each new GM let the previous GMs players go. He needed to get out to reach his potential. It is hard to shine playing in perpetual rebuild.
  19. Lol I was more being saucey. I liked him in his draft year. Will be curious if he ever makes the NHL or stalls out in the A
  20. Fan suggested trades? Was it thewookie1.com?
  21. Edmonton just has not looked comfortable all series. Props to Florida. But at the same time if you swapped goalies I'm not sure there is a game 6. I'm shocked that McDavid hasnt been a bigger factor.
  22. Another 3 day break between games? I'm not claiming any sort of conspiracy, but anytime Florida has played T home they've gotten 3 days and anytime Edmonton has hosted theyve gotten 2. (So far) It is strange
  23. Wasn't a good enough soccer player.
  24. You predicted he would sign an entry level contract?
  25. Marchand has been excellent. Would be a great culture addition.
  26. It is a common problem among fans on that type of sites. They don't seems to get the whole picture or overvalue. Every now and then I entertain myself reading those, mostly they are frustrating (when thinking all Sabres ever want is draft picks) or hilarious, but there are some good ones.
