Three headed goalie monster coming to an end?

You know you still lose at least 60% on a write-off, right? Usually a lot more too depending on the category. -

Because? Say it. They sho... shou... Flames 6-3-1 in last 10. -
You missed my sarcasm. The Bills needed KC to implode before now. The Bills have been close to imploding themselves, and other teams have cut line. Sports is grossly unfair. As is life. Grandfather dies, father dies, son dies is the natural order. If the Bills aren't in the Super Bowl this year, something is wrong with the universe. Also, proof there is no God.

At first glance I thought this said feces... Would've been more fitting

Straight Talk: 1st Line: what do Sabres really have on this roster?
mjd1001 replied to Spoonman's topic in The Aud Club
I thought about him being in a contract year this year and the fact that the team isn't doing well. The reason I think it's the initial stages of him showing some signs of age is... When you look at his skating, it's been on a downward trend for 3 to 4 years now. -
Practice Lines 12/7/25; Noah Östlund returned to Amerks

Probably. But Ruff changes lines frequently. It might click for a game or two and if it doesn’t he will change them again. - Today

Practice Lines 12/7/25; Noah Östlund returned to Amerks

So many plays are going to die on Greenway's stick in the offensive zone. -

I said this before... There's the right way, the wrong way, and there's the Greenway. The Greenway is the same was the wrong way, only lazier -

WHY THE ^**($#)%&)(#&$)(*#& is Greenway on the first line? I think that Lindy thinks this will add defense to the line. He was going to make a "beard line" but none of Tuch, Greenway, or Zucker can play center, so he decided on a tall line instead. Which goalies name will be picked from the helmet and get the start tonight? Lyon, unless the players want UPL in the net, gonna have to check with Dahlin first. Does Noah Östlund enjoy free flights from Calgary to Rochester? Not in coach, no. Did he get miles? All flights are charged to the Sabres Team AMEX Card and the airline loyalty points are collected under the name of Kelly Pegula. (All part of a EEE cost savings strategy she recommended to Daddy). What if Zach Benson scores a goal that isn't disallowed? Is this a trick question. He cannot score. Will the Universe end? No, but is possible that at least WNY and parts of Southern Ontario will vaporize. What would happen if Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch both decided to drag this team into the playoffs? They would be pretty tired by the trade deadline and at that time Tuch will be sent to Boston for a protected first rounder and a prospect that currently leads the AHL in penalty minutes. Would we give them a key to the city? No, not since Terrell Owens lost the keys in Canton, Ohio. If a goalie makes a saves in Calgary but no one is watching, is it goalie interference? No, NHL rules clearly state that only if he lets in a goal will goalie interference be called. -

I’m fine with Östlund being sent down because he’s developing well and doesn’t need to be too exposed to the ***** show that is the Sabres. Greenway on the top line is a choice -
It drives me nuts that this is the 3rd year in Adams tenure where they've run 3 goalies, and at the end of each season everyone admits that the 3-goalie thing doesn't work, nobody likes it. Just waive Ellis already. You gave up nothing to get him. #FREEOSTLUND

Ok Spooner, keep in mind that Jason Boterill was the GM that traded O'Reilly at the behest of Owner Terry Pegula. At that time in 2018 Kevyn Adams was busy working in the Business Administration side of the business, he was running the Harbor Center. In July of 2018 Adams successfully completed the new popcorn machine supplier source selection, a big part of that rinks major concessions upgrades. He also added Dippin' Dots to the menu, another savvy move as the kids love Dippin' Dots. -
Welcome to another excited edition of Sabres hockey. Todays questions are simple but important. WHY THE ^**($#)%&)(#&$)(*#& is Greenway on the first line? Which goalies name will be picked from the helmet and get the start tonight? Does Noah Östlund enjoy free flights from Calgary to Rochester? Did he get miles? What if Zach Benson scores a goal that isn't disallowed? Will the Universe end? What would happen if Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch both decided to drag this team into the playoffs? Would we give them a key to the city? If a goalie makes a saves in Calgary but no one is watching, is it goalie interference? Find out tonight on Sabres after dark, the show where the lines are made up and the defensive zone doesn't matter. That's right the defensive zone is like Kevyn Adams haircut, no one cares.

Then they should have been called for encroachment.

GSAx works like this. The league tracks every shot on the ice and they get assigned a shot percentage, which means they also have a corresponding sv%. This tells us that compared to league average (shooters and goalies) the Sabres goalies give up the most goals or they are the worst in the league. A lot of us focus on defensive breakdowns. "Of course Sabres Goalie (I won't pick on anyone specifically) allowed a goal there, the shooter was left alone on at the dot!" Ok but let's chart all the shots from that spot without a defender within 5ft (they can do this now). Let's say that it goes in 500 out of 1,000 times. That's a .5xGF if you stop it as a goalie you get +.5xGA but if it goes in you get -.5xGA. Some of you are like, "well doesn't that just add goals against!?" and no. You have to remember the majority of shots are saved. Also the majority of shots have a like a .1xGF with stuff like breakaways up around .3xGF so to get up to 10 full goals within 2 months isn't great. That means each game the Sabres goalies are allowing an extra .3goals which doesn't seem like much but image if we swung that in the opposite direction and we were saving .3 more. That means the Sabres goalies are giving up a half goal more per game than the inverse goalies. The bottom line is the Sabres are inexperienced and yes there are defensive breakdowns. All teams have defensive breakdowns. Our goalies however are the worst in the league at making saves. We aren't particularly high on the list of giving up HD chances (someone can look at exactly where we are) so my conclusion is 2 things. First is the defense unit (forwards and defenders) are mediocre in their coverages, when a breakdown occurs, they take forever to cover it up. Second, our goalies are not good. Ellis and UPL have not been steady at all and Lyon was good until Lindy decided he should sit for a couple of weeks. The 3 goalie rotation doesn't work and Buffalo should move 1. I favor moving UPL due to the cost of his deal.
