  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t agree with this at all. It implies that it’s a beautiful sunny day and they are yelling at the one cloud in the sky. We’re in a 14 year hurricane about to be 15. I don’t need to be branded. What’s wrong with “Sabres fans”?
  3. Detroit signed Compher and Copp to help keep youngsters blocked and in their place (deservedly). They are decent supporting players. But who are the supporting? Larkin is a very good player, and he looks great when his speed is unlocked by playing with stars on Team Canada. But he himself is not a star center. And that is a problem when he has to both shut down and outscore the top lines in a division with Matthews, Point, Barkov, 'til recently Stamkos/Bergeron, and now I'd add Stutzle and Suzuki, and whoever is playing with Thompson as he's no longer a center. (Kasper and Brandsegg-Nygard will be fun, though.) They've also been deadset on young defensemen in Seider, Edvinsson and fill-ins (the husk of Hamonic) rather than extending objectively good D in Hronek and Walman. But most like Buffalo, they don't have a #1 goalie. Maybe it's Cossa. I doubt it's Gibson as he hasn't been an above average goalie for almost a decade.
  4. Lindy's excuse this year: "Bizarre Things." Eeyore Hockey. Losers' Lament. See also: What Can The Sabres Even Do?
  5. Don't worry! After all the guys get back, the Sabres will go on a nice run in Feb-March to finish with 75 pts.
  6. I just posted in another thread... That I'm not watching live anymore until they win consistently. If they're not playing winning hockey by the end of October, I'm canceling cable and I'm pretty much done for the year.
  7. Umm, is the answer "people that were in a coma the past 3 years?"
  8. And apparently they've come up with a workaround to effectively only have 1 goal song. Worked last night.
  9. I'm really glad I didn't choose TNT as my unsung hero in the predictions thread.
  10. A note on Rempe. Yes, he is big, but... he didn't go running anyone. He had 5 hits in 9:30. He went to the front of the net as he's supposed to, and he had the speed and angle to get to Krebs and flatten him against the boards -- forcing the puck loose for what turned out to be the insurance goal. The puck went back to the point, over to Soucy for the walk-in on Lyon. No assist, but Rempe made the play that sealed the game. By contrast, Geertsen didn't go running anyone either. He played 4:26 with 2 hits. I checked it again, Geertsen was -1, but blameless. It was all a Ryan Johnson failed clear (like a failed lob shot exit after the icing) and good Rangers keep, then Bryson getting outworked by Lafraniere. 3rd pairing defensemen made mistakes after an extended shift and an icing.
  11. I guess when you boil it all down, I’m just furious that my son’s final year here didn’t produce some great Sabres moments together. I feel robbed, which is why I am going to enjoy every last drop of his final varsity soccer year.
  12. Wonder if the Sabres owner has any juice with the Bills owner? They might be able to work something out.
  13. I'm already done with this team after 1 game. That was quick.
  14. McKenna
  15. Yes. But IIRC they hired a new Marketing VP recently. So, that would make the timing make more sense.
  16. And not saying this season will be anything like that one (this team doesn't have a Hasek), but in the very 1st season in the MMArena, with a coach in his 2nd season leading the team, they got crushed by the Wings in the home opener looking terrible in the process. They won their division that year. It's 1 game. But, yes, it is very discouraging.
  17. I can relate so much to Callaway’s post. My fandom wanes more and more each year. It’s more than just the losing, IMO the product is just not entertaining. I switched to baseball after the 1st period, and only went back to check the Sabres score between innings. I will hang around, but more for OT stuff than Sabres talk. So sad what Pegula has done to this franchise and the fanbase. I really miss the feeling of being a fan of this team in the 70’s. 😞
  18. I am not asking for a Cup, or even playoffs, just try to hold my attention past December. It’s just not worth it right now.
  19. No data on Pegula. Expect he was there. Bettman was in the building, so Terry most likely was too. Thurman banged the drum as the game began. (You likely knew that.)
  20. For me it's getting beyond just pure frustration. Fire Kevin Adams? I don't care, keep him here or fire him... Just win some games. Dahlin and Tage might get frustrated and want to leave? I don't care anymore, let them leave, 16 teams have made the playoffs that didn't have those two guys on them. Tuch may or may not resign here? I don't care anymore. Just win some games. Keep the coaching staff or change them? Trade your prospects and picks or keep them and rebuild? I really, really don't care anymore... Just win some games. Under Pegulas ownership, The decisions don't really matter. There are no right or wrong decisions. I feel like as long as he's here as owner this is going to get turned around with nothing but random chance and luck. They've tried so many different things over the past decade and a half and none of it has worked. I really don't care if everything changes or if nothing changes. Find a way to win and I'll watch. Period
  21. Going to have to go: Tuch Tage Zucker Quinn McLeod Doan Benson Kulich Rosen Malenstyn Krebs Danforth Definetly have enough Amerks to plug in and enough centers to Handle this. Have Kosak here to so Krebs can go up as a Center if you want Tage to stay as Winger. Norris so far really hasn't been counted on as a Sabre so if this is going to happen. Better now then Midseason. That said, Sabres will be hard pressed to play .500 Hockey till Amerk players start delivering GOALS!
  22. It hurt me to hear boos in the first game. I get it, there is pent up frustration, but it still hurt to know how much damage has been done to a once great fan base. A few lethargic power plays. The fans know what bad hockey looks like and they feel no connection to this team. It was a very disappointing home opener, one in a string of many. Was Terry Pegula there? I saw Beane talking to Adams. I saw Thurman Thomas.
  23. For the past few years I never understood people pushing Detroit and thinking they would be really good. I Look at their drafting, look at how many picks they've had, I look at the entire rebuild they've gone through.... I'm not saying they're an awful team... But they are one of the "lowest potential ceiling" teams after a rebuild that I can think of in recent memory across any sport.
  24. For a bunch of young guys under 35, they sure get sick and injured a lot. I am 60 and haven't had a Cold/Flu/COVID in over 7 years. Don't the Sabres have access to the BEST DOCTORS? I don't even have Healthcare and I am healthier.
