  1. Past hour
  2. Jarmo needs to do some Jarmoing. Agree. I’m not giving them Helenius. But can stomach Rosen, ***** even Quinn at this point - conceding that I think he will be a very good scorer when healthy.
  3. Peterka, 9 (or the pick from Byram's exit), and a prospect (hopefully likely a Rosenesque one, not necessarily a Helenius) really does seem to be a realistic package for Robertson. Because it makes sense for both sides.
  4. I hear this. They are just so admirable in so many ways. That's a team, man.
  5. This headline would: ”Sabres add Dudley, DeBoer in Organizational Reshuffle”
  6. Just saying...
  7. Was that Paul Hamilton’s jersey??
  8. I think we might, assuming gains defensively from the trade. I think Quinn, Kulich, Benson, and Cozens/Norris all have the capacity to score more goals, particularly given some of Peterka's opportunities.
  9. Peterka is going to be a really good player in this league. And he will do it mostly on another team (joining many other former Sabres to do so). Sabres are a developmental squad for contenders.
  10. In my five plus decades on this planet as a hockey fan, this Florida team is my favorite by far. Love the total team concept with no superstar generational types. They play hockey almost old school in many respects. They are everything I always wanted the Sabres to be but never will with historically bad mismanagement and a complete lack of culture. At least I had a blast with my boys and got to see them live in the playoffs since I live down here.
  11. The fault in this as time we did that had guys like Audette, Dawe, Plante, Holzinger and eventually Satan to come in that chip in 20 or more goals a piece and we might have 2 guys besides JJP that can do that. Toss in a goalie/defense who gave up only 2.5 goals a game so we didn't need as many goals on offense. I agree we need grit but also can't go lose scoring either.
  12. That Ryan Donato contract seems favourable for the McLeod talks. He's older an was a pending UFA, so it's not a direct comparable. But as career 3rd-line centre who suddenly broke out, its something.
  13. Today
  14. I hope NJD goes for the whole Hughes clan. Nemec, Mercer, a couple 1sts for Quinn Hughes. Get him now before he goes UFA in 2 years and adds another $5M to his contract.
  15. Matt Duschene resign in Dallas, 4 year 18 million total. They forsure need to cut cap somehow
  16. They think he's a Marcus Foligno type. And he's had some glimpses of good production on a 3rd line. With some of their older contracts off the books this summer (Perry, Kapanen, Brown) he will have a solid spot in the middle 6. Statistically, he could make it a good deal for at least 5 of the next 8 seasons. They're following the Tampa way with the oddly long-term Nicholas Paul and Yanni Gourde deals. (Or the Muel...)
  17. Not if you're a rudderless franchise whose reason for existence is to win a Stanley Cup be EEE and the coaches are all already under contract.
  18. Giving a player like Frederic 8 years, just proves the cap options that they have. I think he's a useable 35 point player. 18g18a type, who hits and uses his body well, but god. Finding the right players for your bottom six is important, but overpaying them through the roof, is insane. I still think the Malenstyn, Lafferty, Krebs, and sometimes Greenway group is something that needs to change. They should be using guys similar to Florida, who signs guys who need change of scenary and other offcasts who fit that role. I wasn't a fan of the Malenstyn trade, and still isn't. He seems redundant and rather pointless. I'm all for adding physicality and size. This team has been a pushover for nearly 15 years.
  19. thx @spndnchz
  20. Other than the top guys, don't give players 8yr deals.
  21. Let's get this thread unpinned!
  22. Let's get this thread pinned!
  23. I'm the guy who started this thread and still think this is a great post. The Sabres need a blockbuster trade where they give up skill, speed and potential in exchange for discipline grit and results; Peterka is their best chip to do that. But it has to be value in, value out. It can't be for pieces. Really, the model needs to be Mogilny for Peca and McKee, with Peca and McKee already developed. Doubtful we can pull it off.
  24. "That being said, this top 10 is damn strong. That’s why I’m not willing to call it a weak draft"
  25. Remember liking his game watching him play against the Amerks with Utah. He's two years older and this is his 3rd contract, buying one UFA year, but statistically he's a Jack Quinn comparable.
