  1. Past hour
  2. That’s our Stanley Cup.
  3. Which is perfect, because Adams (who will still be GM), can then trade him for a cost-controlled player who is a RFA in 2028. The circle is complete.
  4. Logjams at the 4th line aren't a good thing unless you have an over abundance of prospects you're trying to bring into the league. Yeah sorry I can't see trading a top or second line Dman for a bottom 6 forward and bottom 4 Dman.
  5. If Poltapov comes over in '27, yes, he'll be on an ELC for 1 year (provided ages for ELCs don't change in the new CBA). If he hangs out 1 extra year in Russia, nope. 25 year olds don't go into the Entry Level System. So, he'll cost the Sabres whatever he costs to get him to put pen to paper on a contract.
  6. And more recently, JJP. And Kulich was nearly a 2nd rounder, being picked at 28. 2nd rounders are not the garbage people are making them out to be.
  7. Nowadays, not many. Back in '06 there were a LOT of arbitrations. But both teams and players seem to be better about working a deal out on their own without a 3rd party mediating (arbitrating, whatevs) the discussions.
  8. Power will be harder to play against once we invest another 1637494 resources into finding him the right partner....
  9. Oh, I'm afraid Pegula’s deflector shield Kevyn Adams will be quite operational when your friends arrive.
  10. Minny would never but ya Folgino back is just such a no brainer its crazy Kolesar is also one ive wanted for awhile and I think the Sabres have too, I remember a few years ago there was rumors that he was almost traded here Whitecload and Kolesar for Byram,, it just works, then figure out the forward log jam after
  11. All he has to do is say, "Trade me." Adams will. But maybe by then Power will have grown up and... Levi... anyway... We can't worry on this particular asset or fear it walking away or being carelessly tossed away by Adams just yet. He's working on his game like any non-first round college kid would be.... But he's definitely progressing. (And it's going to take him an extra year to graduate.)
  12. This makes me wonder how many teams actually see 2 hearings in any given year.
  13. I’m sure Adams will prove quite the recruiter
  14. Why even go back that far when we've been talking about Peterka so much? Scanning through the list of picks over the last 15-20 years or so, I'd venture a guess that their success rate mirrors that of the NHL as a whole.
  15. Before last season -- yes. He can leap the pond in 2027-28, if he wishes. It's the Kaprizov route (minus the exception 1st line/All-Star status, of course) for his age 24-25 season.
  16. I expect somebody will break out in Rochester and get some extended looks in Buffalo this season. Impossible for us to predict who that might be, but the "older" guys like Rosen and Kozak are running out of time.
  17. Not sure if you mean Nick or Marcus, but Marcus Foligno I could see as a vet 4th liner maybe occasional 3rd I hated losing him in the idiotic trade that sent him to Minn. He was the type of player we should have put value on. Could be the nostalgia but I would love to see him come back...
  18. Considering the number of picks and where we have been picking, I wouldn't say our prospect pool is overflowing with potential NHL talent. To be fair, some of our top picks have started with the Sabres, but I would have hoped that we would have more overall talent in our prospect pool given the trades we made for picks and the 14 years and counting of not making the playoffs. If we don't make the playoffs this season and we name a new GM, I hope there will be a revamping of our scouting efforts as well.
  19. One of my HUGE problems with Adams is he seems to feel that the Sabres are an unattractive destinations for players, and they probably are, but the GM should NOT feel that way. I feel like that governs (or limits) what he's willing to try to do. He seems to accept that it's very hard to lure people to Buffalo because the org is viewed as a joke (partially because of him) so he doesn't really try to make any splashy moves. We need somebody who says "***** that" and is willing to, and has the BALLS to go after those kind of players. Adams ain't that guy.
  20. When Byram and pieces are dealt for Robertson feel free to gloat to your hearts content. Personally, my preference is Byram signed to term, followed by a deal for a top six forward. History and the tea leaves have taught me to expect Byram for a lesser defenceman and a lesser forward, with any leftover cap space invested into the new Bills stadium concourse or a bilge pump system for Terry’s yacht. But I am genuinely looking forward to the day when you are finally able to say “I told you so.”
  21. I have no interest in Byram at 5mil+. Just another PMD. Trade him for an NHL player, prospects or picks. Use the money elsewhere.
  22. I also think about how the Sabres have focused on converting Östlund to a goal scorer lol Just signed a new deal in the khl
  23. The other issue is that many center prospects (even great ones like Reinhart) convert to wing and play there in the NHL. They had several center prospects but: Kulich is up, Savoie is moved, Kozak could make the squad this season - but tracks as a 4C at his peak. They don't have bona fide top 6 forwards in the hopper, especially at center. Poltapov is trending upwards. There is the risk he doesn't come to the NHL, but if he does, he'll arrive as a ready-to-go bottom 9 winger (probably 2/3W) who has been playing against men for 5 seasons. And most importantly, he'll arrive on an ELC -- cheaper than Adams can entice for the role from the NHL like Malenstyn or Lafferty, etc.
  24. Almost exactly what I was getting at yesterday. And it’s not like the on roster forward ranks are overflowing with young F talent either, at least not if Quinn doesn’t severely get back on track. we really are buoyed there by the vets, Thompson and Tuch, and McLeod and even Zucker. there’s Benson and Quinn and Kulich for real upside potential, and lately it seems like it’s been narrowed down to merely Benson and Kulich. And that in with a weak F prospect pool and you can see it’s a systemic issue. Norris completely popping off would go a long way, of course, but it’s interesting how this sort of overall look of the F can coexist with the fact we did put the puck in the net a lot last year. Some of that is a year over year thing but a lot does just come down to how hood Tage and Tuch are. the sense of what we are waisting (along with the elephant in the room Dahlin) is palpable
