  1. Past hour
  2. That's a bit more than this kid expected, but not completely out of line. (Was expecting more like $1.5MM.) Leaves them just a bit over $5MM with a full 23 player roster. Now go get Roslovic or make another move.
  3. Sorry to post this so late, Brian passed away on June 11th. I figured if Hulk Hogan and Ozzy deserve a thread, Brian Wilson definitely should have one. A musical genius, in my opinion as well as in the opinion of people like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, etc. Pet Sounds always ranks in the top 3 “Greatest Albums of All-Time”. Perhaps greatest vocal arranger in the history of rock. And a lifelong inspiration to me.
  4. UPL has to be better. He can’t let his confidence and technique slip so easily if he wants to be a good NHL goalie. But… When Ruff got to Dallas, his goalie was Kari Lehtonen. Lehtonen’s career save % was .912. Without Ruff it was .914. With Ruff .908. One season post-Ruff .912. (Note: league wide, save %’s were higher then). When Ruff got to Jersey, his goalie was Mackenzie Blackwood. Career save % .906. Without Ruff .909. With Ruff .889. Post-Ruff .905. UPL career .898. Without Ruff .904. With Ruff .887. Maybe a coincidence. But we might need to see UPL with a different coach and/or team to know how good he is.
  5. Today
  6. We literally have not experienced the change from Cozens to Norris. The latter only played 3 games.
  7. That wouldn't be another change as we've already experienced that change. With rosters of 23, each new player is of at least some consequence.
  8. Today's politics are much different. It's become a blood sport where the issue becomes dominating the opposition and shutting them out. The fuel is anger. What's lost is the ability to listen. I'm a strong believer that you learn more from people who you disagree with than you do with only listening to people who agree with you. It expands your horizons/perspectives. It seems everyone is in their own closed silo with little desire to open the door to alternative views.
  9. I suppose, but particular judgments will be proven more or less correct or not by how the future plays out. So far, the bleak side is on a fourteen year winning streak. Let's hope the ridiculous odds for even a badly run team missing the playoffs that length of time finally tilt in favor of the long-suffering fans. (Unless, of course, one secretly blames the fans, and believe they deserve it. There are the odd sadists out there who think like that.)
  10. What's wrong with that? That's the nature of following a team or sports in general before the games are actually played. As of today, I haven't met anyone who is prescient. Even successful gamblers lose a lot. That's the nature of the beast.
  11. This is the ongoing mo of ka. It's all hopefully players play better this year instead of going out there and getting players that are better
  12. We can say anything we want and we're not right or wrong because we are just making it up as we go.
  13. I readily admit that this is strictly my hope with almost no foundation behind it you are 100% correct in that assumption ... now you have to give something to get so I am not sure that Utah didnt have some hope for that but clearly they were not at all convinced ...
  14. His... checks notes... 62 game nhl career? Well, that's certainly true. Idk what Doan will be but I don't think he's a toss in. Is he a 25pt bottom 6 guy with good defense or a 50pt top 6 guy with good defense? Guess we'll see but I'd bet this year will be up and down for him.

  16. So embedded is acting, meaning they have Al the people read from a script? Interesting. I’m sure the opposing gms would love that
  17. Well he hasn't done anything noteworthy in his NHL career yet. We shall see. Again, we shall see how "hard" he is. That was the sales pitch on Malentstyn too. I don't believe a word "embedded" says.
  18. Embedded implies otherwise. Adams said the trade wasn’t happening cuz Utah would include Doan in the trade, they “consider him a glue piece to the team.” he’s may not be a top 6 forward but he’s not a throw-in either
  19. Guys that were healthy scratches that are still here: Quinn, Samuelsson, Malenstyn. For frustrated guys from last year, you missed one, Aube-Kubel. Guy never garnered any trust from Ruff. (Not saying he should've had it; but he absolutely didn't.)
  20. Few people are categorizing him as a top line forward. He’s a lower line forward who plays a hard style of game.
  21. Here’s something I have not seen posted about: If you had to identify the most frustrated Sabres last year would any of Cozens, Lafferty. Clifton, Peterka and Jokiharju not be on the list? I wonder how many of square pegs with Ruff are left? Who did they miss? Quinn maybe? Samuelsson?
  22. Change is never non-consequential. Every piece In and out resets the chemistry and creates opportunity. Chychrun for Jensen helped both teams. Adding Steven Stamkos for nothing helped torpedo the Predators. St Louis signed 6-goal scorer Dylan Holloway and got 60-point scorer Dylan Holloway. People don’t know if the Sabres got better. And their view of the changes won’t matter. But they will continue to expect they haven’t until they do.
