I think he should be third line (or in Rochester) and his primary development goal right now should be adding muscle and strength. I want him to be elite when the process is complete but Sabres don't understand the development process.

Kadri trade talks are picking up again. Don't know if it's due to the slow newsday summer season, if teams are calling on him, or if Calgary is actively trying to move him, but in any case I came across this article from Jersey on why they would be interested: https://newjerseyhockeynow.com/2025/07/29/new-jersey-devils-news-nhl-trade-talk-nazem-kadri-worth-acquiring/ Basically they need a 3rd line center that can play up if needed, that is responsible defensively, can contribute with goal scoring, and plays with an edge. Basically the same attributes the Sabres are looking for. The main difference is in Buffalo he'd be our 1 or 2 center instead of 3 in NJ. I think he'd be more likely to waive his 13 team no-trade for the opportunity in a place like Buffalo more than NJ because he knows/thinks he can still contribute in a top 6 role. I don't think he moves this year, but if he does I hope the Sabres are in play. His no-trade clause expires July 1st 2026 so he might want to pick where he goes this year while he still has control, if the team is looking to move on from him.

There isn't enough experience, good enough goaltending, or good enough coaching to be a playoff team. Unless something magical happens, we will miss for the 15th year in a row and come in around 85pts.

So are you arguing to deal him so he can thrive on another team. Although Benson still has plenty of upside to draw from that will come to fruition in the future, what you can't say about him is that even while still in the development stage he has hurt us. Whatever limitations he currently has as a young player, he is still based on his play considered an on ice asset.

There are some who are trying to judge the trade as a JJP vs Doan. Framing the trade in that way makes little sense. The primary player we got in return was Kesseiring. The hope is that the defenseman should be a factor in improving a unit that needed to be upgraded. Also, if Kesseiring turns out to be a suitable partner for Power, then the deal looks even better. And if Doan turns out to be an energetic and gritty lower line player, then the evaluation of the trade should look a lot better for us. It's likely that JJP was the best player in the deal. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the trade on balance didn't help to improve our roster.

You Just Can’t Get This Comedy At Home

Like in the late night club of a small rural town in the middle of nowhere comedy? Because.. it's not funny? But somehow you know that the powers that be in those areas have some really good access to golf. -
Talk About Dereliction Of Duty: EPA Off The Rails

Laughable. That said, an activist and caring population would document corporations that abuse pollution controls and the public would force a change. But we all know that won't happen as that takes work. More work at least than being outraged that a transgender influencer doing a Bud Light commercial. The phrase that pays. Water, essential for life! Until you breathe it. -
I'm skeptical simply because he couldn't really crack the line up of a weak Utah team so clearly, they didn't think he was good enough or ready or a major piece. Do not remember seeing him play though so just don't know. For me he's like an unknown rookie. Wait and see when he actually plays. I need to see how he plays most of all. I really think people tend to be overly optimistic here because of his father. I am curious, but remain neutral and skeptical until I see him in action.

I could have thrown coaching in there as a point. It is mediocre that's definitely correct. I fear the future when they name Appert head coach more. I included the chronically injured as a collective group. Norris is obviously the most important piece there. Greenway the least important.
-
I think your prediction is a little premature. If you have noticed in the past I have praised Benson often. I like Benson. Benson is the future. I don't think he's ready to be the present.

Amerks add another defenseman to the fold, Aidan Fulp. 25 years old, RD, 6’ 3” and good speed. Unsure if it was injuries or ineffectiveness, but 84 GP combined the last two years for Bridgeport. Went directly from college to the AHL to start his career. https://www.amerks.com/news/detail/amerks-sign-fulp-to-one-year-ahl-contract An article from Isles training camp last September talking about his potential. https://nyihockeynow.com/islanders-rookie-camp-aidan-fulp/

I love the positivity. I will add: There seems to be a LOT of good, high vibes for a player who - IIRC from what I just read - is 23 years old and has played fewer than 70 games in the NHL.
-
A 10 goal 30 point winger on the top line? lol Put Tuch in Benson's spot on the 1st line, Zucker in Tuch's spot on line 2, and Benson on line 3 with Greenway and Kulich.

I didn't see the added commentary that dealt with Jones in a more expanded clip. But the one point they made that I found interesting is that they believed this blueline group is solid or better. I consider that a fair assessment that falls within a reasonable expectation for this unit. The point that they all also made is that this team/franchise has to break through the psychology of losing that has plagued this franchise. It's really important that with its early loaded home schedule that the Sabres start off well. Also, their comments dealing with adding another veteran forward to one of the higher lines is something that is often mentioned by many here.

I do want to say yet again, I don't think Doan will replace Peterka.
-
in all seriousness there is enough evidence right now to suggest saying "Doan is replaceable" and implying he's a JAG is very much incorrect. I don't think guys who forecheck like Doan are a dime a dozen but I do think NHL teams and NHL fans have a really hard time recognizing the skill and valuing it appropriately.

We haven’t talked much about Jones but he’s a guy I have a great hopes for. Not to be an impact regular in the Sabres top 6, but to be the guy who finally makes Jacob Bryson redundant. For the last 2 years, he essentially played the Bryson 7thD role for the Rangers: sat in the press box and got shuffled into the lineup as injury and poor play required. Unlike Bryson, he actually did pretty well when he got in; he ranked 2nd on his team behind Fox in each of Corsi, GF% and xGF% - above 50% in each and well ahead of Bryson’s bottom-feeding analytics.

Not even close imo. Greenway is a great passer and is usually quick to dish it anyway griere uhh, did none of those things, but would put himself in breakaway situations quite a bit where.. you’d be surprised if he even managed to get a shot off Not even close imo. If you just look at production no, but if you can look at how many goals he will prevent being on the ice instead of JJP, it will be somewhat positive
-
Mike Foligno is a bigger reach than Mike Peca. 30 goals + and/or 60pts + four times in his career. He was a first line player for a good chunk of his time.
-
What you didn't see the NHL Network commentary that Zac Jones is the 2nd coming of Jesus and will propel the Sabres defense to great heights? Listen starting at 1:13 of the video.

What will make the JJP trade for the two Utah players even better is KA bringing in a vet second-line player. The big knock on the Sabre roster for years is that it is too finesse and perimeter oriented. If you add Doan to the additions of Zucker, McCleod and Greenway you can see the roster steadily being reformulated to become grittier. I hope that our GM isn't quite satisfied with the current roster and is able to bring in another player before camp begins. From Doan's perspective, he should be excited to be in Buffalo because he is going to get an opportunity to earn more ice time here. Will he seize that opportunity? I sure hope so. Adding what is obviously an effort player sure is not going to hurt us.
-
This is my point. Doan and Peterka are the same age (about a month apart) and JJP has 238 games to Doan's 62. Doan and Kulich have the same level of experience and similar production, except Kulich is 2 years younger. To me, Doan has no where near the upside of either JJP or Kulich. He may have the potential to be a 40 pt player on the 3rd line and produce solid two way play, but that's all we are likely to get out of him. Unlike JJP and Kulich who are or should be core players, guys like Doan are replaceable. To me Doan and guys like him are a dime a dozen and easily found and easily replaced. I don't think his acquisition moves this team forward an inch. Hopefully he pulls a McLeod and proves me wrong. By the way, you can't really just discuss what Doan is without the context of who he is replacing in the lineup. It maybe unfair to Doan to ask or expect him to fill JJP's offensive shoes, but such is life.
-
Perhaps, but he can be a major contributor to this team as he continues to grow other aspects of his game. He’s the new Intangible imo.
