  1. Past hour
  2. The board in general LOVED the Risto trade. Philly had its pocket picked. Well, Philly has gotten four seasons of a vet, physical RHD (yes, with warts for sure). To date, we’ve received zilch in return. Trade is a negative, period.
  3. 1. Not sure yet, could be ok 2. Good. 3. Not bad, leaning on the good side. 4. Not good. 5. Big (ish) names but not really helping/hurting either way. 6. Doesn't matter. 7. Not good. 8. Doesn't matter. 9. Not good. 10. Doesn't matter. 11. Not good. 12. Decent. Risto was hurting this team, needed to go. 13. Bad. 14. Doesn't matter. 15 Doesnt matter.
  4. When you spell it all out like that I'm beginning to think this Adams fella isn't very good at his job.
  5. If they all had that haircut I’d have no choice but to rank them among the truly elite teams of my day
  6. And it’s the trade you’ll get. Those are the types of players Adams traded for see: “Josh Norris” (whoever that is) his deals are just a microcosm of his overall strategy. “If eveything goes right…” ”Ya but what are the odds o…” ”BUT IF THINGS ALL GO RIGHT…” The player will have a noticeable possibly fatal flaw and we reap the benefit
  7. I’m tired of losing. I don’t give a ***** about developing players for other teams. I would trade literally anyone on the roster or in the system to make the team better. And that would not be a good trade to make.
  8. If they trade him now, dollars to donuts it’s not for a top 6 C, but rather the dreaded “middle 6”’ C
  9. No 2020-21 Sabres team on that list?!?!
  10. Today
  11. 3, 5, 7 and 12 were ok/good. The rest of the trades were bad and hurt this franchise
  12. Isn’t everybody tired of developing talent for other NHL teams? Defenseman take more time to cook. OP doesn’t turn 23 until next month. This team is not better with Power out of the lineup like they are with Cozens out of their lineup. I would be willing to revisit the conversation next offseason if progress is not seen. He’s coming up on 250 games which is typically a benchmark for forwards development leveling off…D just take longer.
  13. I don't think Power gets us a top 6 forward + an NHL defender in any universe And I'm someone who thinks Power could be a major force on this team when he reaches his peak. The only way I would be happy with trading him would be if it really helps us "win now." Are we one Owen Power trade away from that threshold? I don't think so. [Edit: I think we might be able to win a little bit now—not ruling out playoffs—but I'm not sure if trading him is the clincher] I would also think the "win now" would be the only incentive for the people actually making this decision. I would put money on watching Owen Power turn into a really good player, and I would regret seeing him do that on another team.
  14. These are mostly listed in order by date but not importance or whether they are good or bad. Just thought we should have a list of major (ish) moves. I have left off moves like Joki for a 4th or Asplund for a 7th. 1) Peterka for Kesselring and Doan - top 6 scorer out, two middle roster players in 2) Cozens Gilbert and a 2026 2nd for Norris and JBD - Norris hurt 3 games after trade and hurt again in 1st game of the season. JBD looked solid last season but Adams let him walk anyway. G-d forbid someone takes Bryson's roster spot. 3) Savoie for McLeod and AHLer Tullio - former top 10 pick out - 3rd line center in 4) a 2nd for Beck Malenstyn - draft pick wasted on 4th line trash. 2nd was used on Cole Hutson 5) Mitts for Byram - middle six forward out - raw top 4 D in 6) Robinson for a 7th - 4th liner in for a 7th. Wasn't retained after the season 7) a 2nd and 5th for Greenway - Greenway has a needed skill set, but can't stay healthy. 2nd used on Riley Heidy, a smallish center but prolific scorer in the WHL 😎 Bloom for Stillman - Stillman was gone as soo as his contract was up. 9) Eichel plus a 3rd (Mathieu Cataford) for Tuch, Krebs a 1st (Östlund) and a 2nd (used to get Greenway) - Eichel won a Cup with LV, Östlund earned a call up this week 10) Nothing for Butcher and a 5th. He was worth what we paid for him 11) Reinhart for Levi and a 1st (Kulich) - Levi hasn't earned the NHL job yet?, Kulich has developed nicely, but Reinhart scored 50 and won two Cups 12) Risto for Hagg, 1st (Rosen) and a 2nd (Wahlberg) - Risto learned to play defense and the prospects still in the system 13) Montour for a 3rd (Sardarian) - Montour blossomed in Fla and won a Cup and we got a nothing prospect in return 14) Hall and Lazar for Bjork and a 2nd (Kisakov) - Basically a former MVP and a 4th line center for nothing because Adams gave Hall a NMC - Genius at work 15) Johansson for Staal - nothing to see here. Lets be honest, the Sabres maybe worse now after all these deals. Adams has traded away for the 5 most productive drafted and developed Sabres forwards in Eichel, Reinhart, Mitts, Cozens and JJP. Krebs hasn't panned out, Norris is injured, Levi is in the AHL, and Greenway also injured. On the positive Doan looks like solid middle roster played, Kulich has a bright future (until Adams trades him as well), Byram has outplayed Power, Tuch has been good but his contract is up and McLeod was good last season (but invisible so far this season except on the PK). IMHO the result of the these trades made the Sabres younger and less skilled. I don't trust Adams to make any trades going forward.
  15. It does not have to be a center, but it might be even harder to find a Mitch Marner type of winger that sets up a lot of goals, so I think of centers first.
  16. Funny you mention this. The guy that replaced the battery in my Accura told me he recently did a Ford Escape and it was the longest replacement process he had so far.
  17. I recently read somewhere that Edmonton might be forced to trade Emberson. Might be an interesting rhd to put on a third pair if the suggested trade Power for a forward straight up would happen.
  18. I think where I disagree is that the player has to be a center. You can drive play from the wing. I agree our top 6 is missing a piece and I'd prefer to add at center, I just don't know who or where that player is. It's a reason I started the Power thread. He's a player you could trade for a center.
  19. Norris is a good player when healthy. He would be our 1C if healthy. But he is far from a bigtime playmaker. Look at his stats.
  20. I love Benson. But even with Benson, this team needs a center that can consistently carry and possess the puck, create space for others, and pass the puck to players with scoring opportunities. This does not describe Tage. Our top 6 is missing a key piece, and this person would help the PP too. Norris - his best season is 35G + 20A, 55 points. That is his only 20 assist season. Kulich - still a work in progress. Östlund - is more of a natural playmaker and deserves the next shot. Helenius - his time will come.
  21. I don't think Quinn really has much value right now at all. He's not a good player.. you can make a case He's a bad player that most teams would be better with a veteran journeyman instead of him, plus it's an additional negative how much they signed him for. Maybe, maybe another team would give up not so much for him and take a flyer on him... If it didn't cost them much. But he's a reclamation project at this point, and probably I would assume other teams would rather do almost anything else with that amount of money that he has to get paid the next 2 years. If Buffalo doesn't want him, I think he falls into the category of. Why would anybody else.
  22. a top 6 center? What about Quinn and Power for a top 6 center and a D?
  23. What a novel concept, I've only been an advocate for trading Power the past two seasons plus.
