Glad to see Malenstyn get a well deserved seat upstairs. He'll hit and block the odd shot, but is an offensive black hole. Kozak and Dunne can play the same role... Only better. Krebs... Your next. Greenway... You too. I thought about including Quinn on this list but part of me feels he's on the brink of figuring out his game. There's definite glimpses. Kind of like when Thompson was younger, but hadn't quite put it all together yet. -
It'll likely never get to Kozak going down, or possibly even Östlund or Rosen because of the next injuries which have yet to occur.

Anybody fired after the Calgary debacle? Why not?

It’s going on 15 years. If people haven’t stopped going, then I doubt the will now. He knows season ticket sales are way down. That’s probably why he wants 200+ events at the arena to help bring in some cash -

Honestly, with how well Doan has played, it should function as a capable top line. Just need to Tuch to give a damn. -

Indifference works both ways. Pegula will eventually see the empty seats. -
You think Benson slid because what he does doesn't show up in videos or on stats?

Baker & Fairburn pod: The time has come
PerreaultForever replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
I think part of this comes from less reliance on the old time actual scouts. Guys who went around to the rinks. They talked to the coaches, the parents, people watching. The kids themselves. They got to know the families and their stories. How they worked. Their character. They got to know and see things that don't always show up on video. They still do some of that but not as much. Benson is clearly a character guy with a work ethic. If I'm tearing this down to the studs (again) he'd be one of the few I'd actually keep. Maybe the only one. Well that's true but I really see no correlation with Savoie other than the fact both were smaller and so both fell below their ranking. otherwise they have nothing in common. -

Was the owner the person who required that Jarmo be hired? Or did the owner tell the GM that he needed veteran help around him resulting in KA bringing in Jarmo? Or did KA go to the owner and tell him that he would like to add Jarmo to his staff? Just curious. -

Huge night for UPL. If the narrative that he need pressure to be great is true, tonight is the kind of night for him to shine. It’s a big night for him because if he’s bad, it’s OVER for him as a starter in Buffalo. I cannot explain it, but for some reason I’m expecting him to be good tonight. Tage and Tuch can have a big night. I wouldn’t bet against it after the stinker on Wednesday. It’s their MO to be good after a letdown. -

Boy! I bet that "first line" of ours really puts the fear into our opponents! One frickin far cry from the "French Connection". Oh how far the benchmark of a scoring line has fallen for this franchise!!!😫 -

Josh Norris is close to full gears. The top six is close to full form. Time to make a run. -

Zucker’s impact back into the lineup is a huge boost to the top six. Pushing the kids to the third line and giving Quinn NHL forwards to play with is a huge help. A big game for Quinn is needed or he’s headed to the press box. Still need Benson back, but at least the top six is filled with NHL regulars. -
Byram vs Power - Who are you keeping long-term?

Terry Pegula's problem is the same problem an entire host of people have. The Dunning-Kruger effect. Terry doesn't understand as much about hockey as he thinks but since his understanding is so limited/bad he overestimates his abilities OVER AND OVER. This is compounded by the fact he is a billionaire and when you are that wealthy, you have a very important super power. If you don't like what someone tells you, you just fire them and get someone to confirm the reality you want to live in. It is why the super rich are so out of touch when it comes to just about everything. When they hear things they don't like, they change them or insulate themselves so they don't have to hear it anymore. Bill Gates (I think it is him) grew a giant hedge around his property in LA which is against the zoning or HOA whatever and guess what, he doesn't care because the 10k fine a month is nothing. He has so much money that he just forces reality to his will. Terry is the same, it is why he has vanished from the public side of the Sabres. It went down hill, he didn't like the scrutiny, so now he shows up during important times, gets to play owner and make decisions, then flies on back to Florida where he basks in the success of the money printing NFL team he owns and the soon to open fancy new stadium. He built a hedge around his Sabres ownership so he doesn't have to see or hear the "WTF!" that is coming from the fanbase. -
Byram vs Power - Who are you keeping long-term?
LGR4GM replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Byram, I would look to Vancouver. I would try to get Chytil (yea I know he has a bad concussion history) and a 2nd round pick. I don't think you can get a ton more for Byram. If not Vancouver, than LA Kings would be an option. I would love to pry Liam Greentree from their cold dead hands (metaphorically) but I doubt Byram gets that done. Maybe Byram and one of the 400 RHD prospects (not Mrtka) can get you that. Outside of that, maybe they would part with Danault. Note that Danault has a modified NMC but that would be a player with TONS of experience that could help the team. Power for Carbonneau, Broberg, and a 3rd Byram, 3rd, and Kleber for Danault and Greentree (I am probably a bit light here for Buffalo) -

He might know what to do but he doesn't want to. Hire a proven hockey guy, maybe a couple. Pay up to get them to come here, and sweeten the job by telling them its their show to run, all Terry asks is he be notified when money is going to be spent. Pegula needs to tell those guys he wants to hear the explanation behind their moves, but that he won't override their decisions. It seem to have been a while since he was willing to give control to competant members of a front office and give them control/money/power to make their own decisions.
