First he proposes an oddly shaped cage, then he tweaks our beloved blue and gold colors and throws our classic crest onto the junk heap of history. Now this -- he has commissioned a new version of Sabre Dance! Unbelievable. My sources tell me the new version will be played after every goal starting at the first home game in January. Not true, if we are to trust the hosting site (no reason not to). I.e., look at the "music" section of the web site where this sound clip is posted -- Belly-Dance Site -- it's pretty clear that someone previously put this tune together by mashing some standard belly-dance with elements of the Sabre Dance. No commissioning. And, with that, I have quite likely acted like a total boyscout in connection with a joke from PA. Still, man, I'm scarred by the slug -- can't be too careful nowadays. That's how I feel after watching the Sabres power play this season. Rim shot... Yes, I am staking my credibility on this. But there's more. I have been told by my source that in an effort to continue to woo female fans to the arena, as the new theme music plays after a goal, a spotlight will shine on Rip Simonick, who will strip the waist and do a belly dance. This source has never steered me wrong before. I don't like it. Not one bit. But don't blame the messenger. Blame Larry Quinn. Maybe it's time to get the media involved. This song is more fitting for that then getting fans pumped up. Khachaturian's Sabre Dance is excellent for getting us rowdy and should remain that way.
