If this was the first hockey game you'd ever seen, I bet you'd be surprised to find that one of these teams is top 5 in the league and the other is bottom 5.

Trade Stafford because he has no future in Buffalo, he's not that into hockey, and the fans have been ready to move on from the guy for a few years already. Re-sign Stewart or trade him. Both guys should be able to net us something decent by the deadline.

The part in bold is why I wouldn't want him in the top ten. Not interested in drafting prospects that will apparently figure out how to score at some later date TBD in the top ten, and maybe not even in the first round. Use the later picks for the "maybe he'll figure out how to score someday" guys. And, yes, I realize that by saying all this I'm causing the universe to set events in motion that will absolutely result in the Sabres using their 1st on Crouse. You can look forward to my "OK, I'm getting more comfortable with this pick the more I read about Crouse" posts by the end of June. And then my "WTF did we ever draft this guy?" posts 1-2 years later.

The Sabres should pray Strome is available as late as 8th overall. I still have no idea what Crouse is doing in the top ten. And now he's ahead of Strome at #6 overall? Weird stuff.

I realized after the fact that there wasn't any WWE intro music reference. "The Sabres down to their last chance and here's Moulson getting ready... Wait, what's this? The jumbotron is playing the Erie Otters intro! And that's the BU school song! Moulson just shot the puck over the glass! And now he's ripped his yellow Sabres jersey off and he's got a half Otters, half BU sweater underneath! He's Team Tank!! Moulson is tanking! Meszaros is wearing the same BU-Otters sweater and he just hit Nolan with a steel chair! The game is already over but Kim Pegula just made her way onto the ice and threw powder in Enroth's eyes!!! Post-game coming up."

Wouldn't mind an extra 1st in 2016 when we're hosting the draft. Another 1st in 2015 could help us move up in the draft or make other trades though.

That asking price is speculation from Bruce Garrioch. I doubt GMTM is that nuts. More interesting part is the teams that are interested: Bruins, Sens, Flames, Kings.

That would be the greatest pro-wrestling moment in the history of sports. I'm just imagining Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler calling that. "Here's Moulson coming in on net and he.....shot it over the glass? He shot it over the glass! Now he's tearing off his Sabres jersey to reveal a half Erie Otters, half BU jersey! He's Team Tank! He's tanking for McEichel!!! Now Meszaros is behind the bench in a Team Tank jersey too and he's beating Nolan with a steel chair!!!" I'm actually sad that we'll never see something that awesome happen.

I'm only half listening but I thought he was making a point about how Marrone can never give a straight answer. Marrone said something like "I was texting him or trying to call him..." and that's fairly weird since you'd think he'd know which one it was. And if it was both, just say "and" there. Marrone is a master of speaking lots and lots of words that mean absolutely nothing. His answers to direct questions are pretty frustrating.

The argument becomes "the trade for Watkins was good because Whaley was going to do something stupid anyway." And that trade wasn't the only stupid move he made at the top of the draft. We basically tossed our 2nd round pick into a volcano with Cyrus Kouandjio. And now 2015 looks like it might be another season of Super Bowl-caliber defense wasted because we don't have a QB. Swell.

I'd put Moulson at LW with Reinhart because I'm confident he'll shoot it when Reinhart gets him the puck. Not sure who their RW would be. I'd keep Ennis with Girgensons and put Armia as their RW (if he can ever stay healthy). He seems like a nice compliment for them, especially Girgensons. I'd like to keep Deslauriers on the 3rd/Checking line. The other two guys can be any combination of Compher, Fasching, Baptiste, Bailey, Grigorenko, Lemiuex (assume a couple of these guys completely fall off the map and maybe 1 elevates his game to top 6?). If the hockey gods could do us a favor and get us another stud top 6 prospect at center (don't even need McEichel -- I'd be thrilled with Strome or even Larkin via trade), our top 3 centers would be Reinhart, ?????, and Girgensons, and we'd probably be set for the next 10 years. That'd be nice.

Missed this the first time around, but I'm happy to hear the good news. Of course, having this message board crowd-fund your bone marrow biopsy would have been a fun start to 2015 for all of us. Something to do while we wait for the Tank to end.

When you post there's a white/pink "eraser" button on the top left (right above the italics button) that you can use to remove the formatting from content that is copied and pasted. That's probably what you were looking for.

I doubt losing Stafford and Stewart is going to mean a whole lot to us. Or, at least, not nearly as much as the sell-offs the Coyotes and Hurricanes might be prepping for.

To be fair, though, Myers could be the future of Detroit if they think he's got his game turned around. He's still young; it's not like they'd be trading Larkin for a guy in his 30's. Unrelated: Mikko Rantanen has two goals in his first two WJC games. Maybe he plays his way back into the top ten with a strong tournament?
