  1. I like the new Chz that kicks everyone's ######.
  2. Montreal seems fine after being second last in points last year. This too.
  3. Steve Ott knows how important it is to have a clean visor: http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2461345/ott_lick.gif
  4. It's never too early to talk about a draft. 2014 NHL Mock Draft: http://www.draftsite...ock-draft/2014/ Griffin Reinhart's little bro slated to go first overall?
  5. Agent Smith never half-assed it though. (Damn, that first Matrix movie was awesome.)
  6. It's never not funny:
  7. Thank you for that second link. Great stuff. This sounds right to me. If Benning is open to leaving Boston, I think he'd be interested in Buffalo. Most people who've ever spent time in Buffalo like it (as opposed to people who've never lived here, who seem way less interested) and we have a really motivated owner who spends money. We also have extra draft picks the next two years. The Sabres are not the Bills. They're an attractive team to work for.
  8. Those were pretty awful draft classes though. Not a ton of players outside of the first half of the first round that I'd be super excited about, and we didn't even have a first rounder in 2007. The big miss is Lucic, and we definitely don't look at players like that enough when we draft.
  9. Not to mention that in that list we have one top ten pick (Vanek). It's worth repeating: your chances are a lot better the higher you draft.
  10. NOOOOOOOOO!!!
  11. The difference is that Edmonton drafting 10th overall is progress for them. Plus they've got enough top end prospects that drafting later really won't hurt them
  12. So we're supposed to boo them but they're not supposed to care that we boo them. Then why are we booing them again? The booing is just the tip of the iceberg though. Pretty much any crowd in any city has booed their team. The crowd in our arena is actively hostile to the team and it's not just this year. The people are cranky before the game even starts and the stuff you hear around you is bizarre ("Pominville has never done anything for us."). It's been years since I've been to a game where the crowd actually cheered when they announced the starting lineup (are they already upset at the effort before the game starts?). Then it's whisper quiet when the game starts and fans are slow to react to even the good things that happen (we used to cheer when we cleared the puck on a PK). The atmosphere is horrible.
  13. I love that there's always an element of "these guys make a ton of money." They're human beings. They're going to react the same way whether you increase or decrease their pay by an order of magnitude.
  14. He's 19.
  15. Agree 100%, especially the last part. Trading up for Girgensons wouldn't have been my move but I definitely liked the Sabres trading up to get the guy they wanted. I can appreciate a proactive team putting a plan into motion, and it felt like that's what we saw that day.
  16. I've been an Angels fan since the 80's and they're probably the only reason I haven't given up on sports entirely. (2002 changes everything.)
  17. The chances of them trading Yakupov AND a 1st AND a 2nd for anyone is highly unlikely.
  18. Arte has actually been a spectacular owner. He's renovated the stadium a couple times and the Angels are consistently ranked as one of the best fan experiences in pro sports. The last 10 years have also been about as good as any in the team's history as a group, despite the team basically being an expensive disappointment these last few seasons. I can't blame him for going for it though. As far as "clueless", he bought the team for $184M in 2003 and it's worth more than three times that just 10 years later. The Angels and Sabres have (or had) a great corollary earlier this year with Scioscia and Ruff though. Angels fans are constantly debating if it's time for Scioscia to move on, despite all his success years ago. I think we could move up like 3 spots within the top ten (e.g. from 9th to 6th) but even that would be an expensive trade (and we'd have to be really sure that it's worth it). After Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon, and Barkov are gone, who'd be worth trading up for? Trading up from Minnesota's pick to ~12th is weird too. I'm still not sure that was the right move last year. I keep reading about the draft and I'm not sure who would be available at 12 that would be significantly better than who we could get at 20th or so (wherever the Wild ends up, assuming they don't make the Finals).
  19. Well, that's definitely not happening. If we trade Vanek, I'd want a blue chip prospect as the centerpiece coming back (a Filip Forsberg type). We sort of went for quantity with the Pominville trade and I'd want one awesome prospect to build around this time.
  20. Supposedly he didn't play well in last year's playoffs either, and that was part of the reason he dropped to #12. (We're obviously hoping it was the mono, but who knows?)
  21. The text of Ott's interview: http://sports.yahoo....06013--nhl.html The interesting part is that he's well aware that people are frustrated with the last six years, and doesn't care.
  22. Did you watch the game or just follow it online or on the radio? How did Grigorenko look? I'm thinking playing in the Q playoffs is still challenging enough that it's good for his development.
  23. I've been saying "Fukk y'all." Is that wrong?
  24. Way to go, fans. LtoM is throwing haymakers.
