  1. Agree with all of this. There's nothing to spend the money on, so I really could care less about "freeing up $6M." But it's pretty much over for Miller in Buffalo; he definitely seems ready for a fresh start. Finding a place to trade him and get good value is going to be a nightmare though.
  2. Catenacci with a goal and an assist in his AHL debut. Amerks win 5-1 and clinch a playoff spot.
  3. Healthy scratch for the Sabres two games in a row.
  4. No, I'm sure it'll totally result in a "culture of winning" that carries into next season. Bottoming out is baaaaaad.
  5. Buffalo Sabres ‏@BuffaloSabres1m Rangers make it 4-0 just 1:13 into the 2nd. Enroth replaces Miller in goal. Possibly forever. This post is about three months late.
  6. I used to love that idea, but now I'm off of it. I think metallic gold (or "Vegas gold" as its called in the PIttsburgh set) would look cool with navy blue, but less so with royal blue. The shift to HDTV in the past 10 years also changed my opinion because I think bright colors (a yellow gold) look way better on HDTV than metallic colors. And, lastly, I think a yellow gold could make for an epic alternate jersey.
  7. Oh, so you're saying Dan Catenacci is definitely going to be as good as Danny Briere? Get real, man!
  8. I'll give him one more year. No doubt he's disappointed this year.
  9. He's fast so he can be the new Holzinger. He'll burn by everyone else on the ice and score 50 goals a year (if he ever learns how to score on breakaways).
  10. I prefer to think of it as a webuild. Some people just pronounce it that way.
  11. If it translates, the Sabres suddenly have a lot to hope for from Rochester: Girgensons, Larsson, and Catenacci up front, Gauthier-Leduc and McNabb on the blue line, and Hackett and Leggio in net.
  12. All of our uniforms should be royal blue and gold. Navy blue was a fad from the 2000s. Time to move on from that.
  13. No reason. Look at Montreal and Toronto last year to this year.
  14. Pretty much just sales, although third jerseys can be really cool if done right. (Example: the Blackhawks black alternate.)
  15. Here's what we know: http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/blog/alphabet_soup/2012/08/tidbits-from-the-webster-block.html?page=all If it's blue and gold and features the original logo, I'm hoping that means it's a yellow alternate. Otherwise, why bother? Would we really want another blue or white jersey with the logo we're already using. That would probably just muddy up the look.
  16. A new third jersey is definitely in the works, but that's all we know. The part where it's yellow is probably just from me campaigning for that on this board once or twice a month (a yellow version of the white uniform).
  17. First half of the season: White uniforms at home. Second half of the season: Dark uniforms at home. Playoffs: Home team decides. I like how the NHL pretends this would be a logistical nightmare.
  18. :worthy:
  19. Remove all three. Stop rebuilding a teeny tiny bit at a time. Everyone needs to be gone so that we can finally close the book on this era and have something new.
  20. Hopefully this is a good sign: A comparison of Hodgson's first year in the AHL as a 20 year old to Larsson's. Hodgson: 17 goals + 13 assists = 30 points in 52 games Larsson: 16 goals + 25 assisnts = 41 points in 68 games Not too different, and Larsson is adjusting to life on a new continent. Hopefully he lives up to the hype.
  21. Plus you can't teach speed. 5'10" isn't a death sentence for a player, especially at center. (He's taller than Ennis, FWIW.)
  22. This picture is amazing: Steve Ott ‏@otterN9NE23m Huge win for the boyz, Time to FOLLOW the newest Sabre Rudy @cdiesel3 #Umass #HaveYouSeenMyBaseball pic.twitter.com/GbMXwgFTGx
  23. Well, that and the part where his value can't possibly be going up right now.
  24. I've liked Enroth for a long time (even when he totally sucked) but these last two wins were against crappy teams who didn't seem to care all that. What happens if we keep playing him in these last five against teams jostling for playoff positions? (I doubt we will, but I'd like to find out.)
