15P in 10GP in the A would be good enough for roughly a 54 point NHL season. Bueno. -
GDT Ottawa Senators vs Buffalo Sabres 7:30pm ET 11/1/18

From a fine shot on net by Ristolainen. -
Signs from last year point to no. All Nelson's partners were LD, with exception of Ristolainen, with whom he played 30:49 of 5v5, and they were a team-worst CF% of 37.33. But hey, I'm sure Risto will play better and stop being this board's bitch if Housley "sends him a message" and puts him with Nelson.

Moving Reinhart to the RW babysitter of Erod and Mittelstadt is punishment for not skating through his check on the OT winner last night.
-
Let me just... go ahead and ... ok, that's better: McCabe - Bogosian Scandella - Dahlin Nelson - Ristolainen Beaulieu Playing proper sides are important, especially with three dmen that can switch sides (McCabe, Dahlin, Beaulieu).
-
By the way, this is exactly the situation that led to Robyn Regehr getting his ***** kicked in all over this message board. Ruff worked him like a horse, and while he was a major contributor to the team IRL and on paper, it didn't "pass the eye test," and many here made it their mission to bury him. Same with Tyler Myers, who, after completely tearing down the team in front of him to be intentionally be league-worst, was ***** all over here and "just really needed a change of scenery." I guess the best defenseman is now your whipping boy. Can't wait for the trade talk. Oh, wait, it's already the first post of this thread. Good call. Get Beaulieu in there. Stupid.

No. The OT goal was the fault of Reinhart getting beat down 200' of ice and then Eichel not tying up Gaudreau after Gaudreau's first pass. Eichel knew it, which is why he smashed his stick on the back of the goal. That play had nothing to do with Risto, except for the fact that Risto carried the puck deep and was incidentally tripped by Moynihan in the corner in a 1-on-2, which led to the turnover.

Taro's pretty close, I think. According to the usage charts, Risto has far and away the highest QoC rel CF%. He's being sacrificed to shelter Dahlin, Beaulieu, and Nelson. When he was playing with Scandella last season, Housley stuck with Risto and Scandella through the season. They struggled the same way, but out-performed every other pair. This year, Housley took Scandella away from Risto because they performed similarly to last year, but Scandella-Bogosian performed better over a short period of time. Who did that leave as Risto's partner? McCabe. McCabe-Risto played fine. Now that McCabe's injured, that leaves Beaulieu, Nelson, or Dahlin. Which of those guys is going to perform against top lines? Answer, according to the usage charts: neither. Housely either needs to put Risto back with Sandella and ride them as the #1 pair and put Dahlin with Bogosian and do a wait and see, or he needs to keep Scandella-Bogosian together, elevate them to face the best competition, and drop a partner-handicapped Risto to the 2nd line. Once McCabe gets back (day to day), he should be put with Risto on the top pairing again. The root cause of these issues is having three defensemen that need babysitting and not being able to step up to fill a single injury.

Ristolainen will be be fine.

Meh. With the massive dead cap, the only outcome we could hope for going into this season was that Allen wouldn't die. If we still achieve that, I'm good. It just turns out that we also happen to be pissing away a top five, playoff-ready defense. Hopefully we can sustain and advance our beastliness in the coming seasons.

If it makes you feel better, I was at the Game 6 against Philly at home in 2001 when we trashed them 8-0 to take the series. We found Flyers jerseys in the bathroom trash cans. Separate game: Tim Connolly was the starting center and was lined up at center ice for the anthems. Lights go down, Dougie walks out, announcer says "please rise" etc, but there ends up being a 5 second pause between the announcement and the organ starting up, which was quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Someone in the 300s yells at the top of their lungs, "CONNOLLY SUCKS!" which every single person in the arena heard and started laughing. Timmay had to stand there and eat it through the two anthems.

That's Terrelle Pryor's secret, he IS the QB.

GDT Calgary Flames vs Buffalo Sabres 7pm ET 10/30/2018

Bold move, Cotton. Beaulieu and Nelson played 58:07 of 5v5 last year and posted a CF% of 40.38, team worst among any pairings that lasted more than 35 minutes of 5v5. It'll be an interesting result if they do better- either a commentary on their growth or perhaps better support from the forwards. Moving Dahlin to his off hand is also interesting. -
Who Are Your Three Stars For The Week? Oct 21-27

1) Doohickie for the multiple points he scored in the Montreal GDT 2) Flagg for the assist on those plays. 3) Carpandean for making new charts, hopefully. -
I haven't read that one yet. The authors wrote books on basketball analytics, this is their first hockey book. Someone did a terribly written review of that book, more from the perspective of whether analytics has any value or not: https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2018/4/24/17272436/book-review-hockey-analytics-a-game-changing-perspective I've read Rob Vollman's stuff, and I like it: http://www.hockeyabstract.com/fan-s-guide-to-hockey-analytics

This team's starting to show signs of the never-say-die resiliency that has historically defined the franchise. -
At the December Ralph game, dude in front of me straight up pissed his snow pants, turned around and apologized for pissing his snow pants, and continued watching the game.

Good question. No. It's the lexan cover for the video monitors in the bench floor (there's one or two of them). That's what the coaches watch for replays, etc, that aren't on the jumbotron for use in deciding when to challenge goals, etc. I would not have known the answer to this is if I didn't just have baller seats at the Kings game. -

Haaaaa. Welcome to the club finally. You're not the first and you won't be the last. I have two strikes and a brief ban from a couple years back because nfreeman didn't like that neither the word dick nor compound words with dick as the root word were being caught by the profanity filter. ProTip tho: if Flagg is really stepping on your nuts, put him on ignore. No shame in that. Then when you opt into reading his posts, it's nobody's fault but your own. You'll realize that and respond negatively muuuccch less. Disclosure: Flagg is not on my ignore list.
