  1. To borrow a phrase: Reductive simplicity is the hobgoblin of little minds.
  2. Yeah - okay. Blechk. I generally don't tire of feeling some measure of regret as well as sympathy and/or empathy for human suffering -- especially when I view it as gratuitous and unnecessary, and perhaps even more especially when it's being orchestrated for my amusement and entertainment. I'll probably get to a point where I just stop watching, rather than continue to clamour for changes to the game. Double blechk. I think that's more than fair. That's probably the leading reason. But I think there are multiple factors at play, and, for any given consumer, some or all of the factors may play a role in diminished interest.
  3. you're percipient af.
  4. I honestly can't tell if you're being serious. For me, that sort of awfulness (the Burfict and Brown incidents specifically) is why I am confident that I (and 100s of 1000s of others) will eventually no longer watch or care for the NFL in its current form. p.s. Nothing wrong (and plenty right) with that play by Bell -- having just watched it for the first time.
  5. FWIW. Pregame worship service to take place before Bills meet Dolphins Faithful who are also football fans have an invitation from organizers to gather from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in the Ad Pro Sports Training Center, adjacent to the Bills stadium, for a nondenominational Christian service. http://buffalonews.com/2017/12/04/pregame-worship-service-to-take-place-before-bills-meet-dolphins/ +++ I've chirped plenty about this influence at OBD, but, in fairness, if the franchise finds its surrounding environs becoming known as a sort of modern Sodom and Gomorrah, it's probably appropriate to introduce some vibes on the other side of the ledger.
  6. The team’s captain is going to be a player who, despite dogged effort, is constantly behind the play, snake bitten with finishing, and, most likely, chronically overpaid? Sounds about right for Tank 2: Sneak Attack.
  7. That is of some comfort to me, I will admit. OTOH, Gronk is the guy who's reportedly never spent a game check and lives frugally off endorsement money.
  8. So. The Concept of Larsson now? What I thought he would be was valuable. What he is, far less so.
  9. I have no per se issue with the show of emotions. But don't sulk. Go out and apply that energy. We'll see.
  10. Every GM, coach, scout prefers his own players. As a fan, you just have to hope that your team's GM likes the right players.
  11. The what's it? Remember his super dramatic packing up routine that he did last year, and Paul Hamilton inferred he sorta staged it for the benefit of the media? (And I lambasted Hamilton for inferring as much.) Eichel is fun, funny, and super talented. But he may need to grow the eff up.
  12. I literally don't care who they trade at this point. And that includes Eichel. This team is so bad -- the aftertaste of the tank now so bitter -- that I am more than ready for a nuclear re-set.
  13. what a sh1tshow.
  14. Really? My honest guess: Ownership said "no" to that. Otherwise, I imagine they'd listen to offers.
  15. I would bet he has a professional approach and attitude. He's just shot. Amen. Really? That's a pretty hefty check to forego.
  16. Long overdue. It makes no difference, right?
  17. Kill 12. Kill him.
  18. Talk about salt in the wounds. That ref can suck a bag of .
  19. Disagree on the nature of the man.
  20. Jesus effing Christ on a gubdamn popsicle stick. GODDAMMIT. With the venting done, I know that my feelings and position haven’t changed: The local teams won’t truly get sorted out until he’s gone. There may be success while his involvement persists, but it will be in spite of him. He is the worst sort of toady. The worst.
  21. Fair. I make a living speaking for others. I’m confident I have his position captured here. I’m always years behind where I need to be. Maybe I lag PA? I scoffed at the tank detractors. Now? Not so much.
  22. Huh? It’s just boring to return to the “Pegula sucks” trope. If you’re cheering Marvelo’s content (I don’t see it), then I’m likely done here. This is just excellent. Way more nuts and bolts than PA would like, I think, but spot on.
  23. That is fair. I am interested in the notion that his apparent grumpiness, crankiness, which seemed to cloud his judgment at times could have been the product of his poor health and/or personal tragedy. I can't tell if this is serious or for yuck-yucks. In any case, Mr. Yuck:
