  1. Poor choice of words. I think I know what he's getting at. I'm sure the language/culture barrier plays a role. Eichel is the team's future captain, for sure. The question is when the future will arrive. Maybe sooner than we might have thought.
  2. I think there might/must be "political" reasons for playing Moulson (i.e., catering to a veteran).
  3. I lost or never had the thread. I'm even more confused now.
  4. Hear, hear. As Pipes Tweeted: Jack just gets it.
  5. Tough on McCabe, but, Lord -- he earned a game in the press box over the past couple of games.
  6. Right. And if the Sabres have their #4 overall guy sitting there at #8, and he's a forward, they're taking him.
  7. Always? I saw some tiering analysis that seemed to suggest that the players from, say, 6-15 were all essentially the same in terms of their prospects for success. In that event, if there's someone that another team really wants at 8, I'm good with the team trading back if they think they can get a solid D prospect at, say, 12 or 14, or whatever. OTOH, what are you likely to get in exchange for allowing another team to move up a few spots?
  8. Probably right. But it also seems foolish to get into the business of mortgaging the future for more immediate results.
  9. Maybe. I had actually inferred that some third-party 'bot-based service had effected a whole bunch of blocks for Vogl. Either that, or he just fat-fingered a mistaken block. My account and his had had many rational interactions on Twitter prior to the block.
  10. That happened to me with Vogl once. No idea how or why it would have happened. I emailed him and asked for an unblock -- he obliged.
  11. I thought this deserved its own thread. Thanks for the heads up, Brawndo. Per Hamilton yesterday: 45] Paul Hamilton‏Verified account @pham1717 More Okposo has been in the hospital undergoing multiple tests to see what is wrong with him. So far they have not been able to pinpoint it 12:22 PM - 4 Apr 2017 And, not that it matters right now given his health scare, but I am fairly sure that this team has a playoff record pace when Okposo is in the lineup. Well, wait a second: Looks like the team is 29-25-11 with him in the lineup. I don't think that quite projects to 90 points. Even so - they are a way better team with him in the mix, obviously.
  12. F*cking hell. Had he suffered a concussion? I missed that, if so. I'd heard he was ill, was all.
  13. Word. If Eichel hasn't done it for you already, you may be dead inside.
  14. I probably wouldn't much care for Eichel calling fans out for the sedate atmosphere. The noise will come when there's something to cheer for.
  15. Sorry if it doesn't belong here, but this is our Significant Eichel thread. "“Pretty loyal to us, obviously,” Eichel said. “Sellout games, we don’t play well, they’re here. We played good they’re here. We play bad they’re here. … I got nothing but great things to say about these fans. They’ve been nothing but great to us, nothing but great to me, my family, all my friends. Whenever they’re in town, they treat them great." +++ Effing love that quote.
  16. It's Eichel for me. And anyone else is a distant second.
  17. Word. And I don't think you even mentioned how tedious and unwatchable the replay review process makes the games. More and more (and I know it's not for everyone), I have come to enjoy watching top flight soccer (EPL, mostly) for my sports entertainment. It's funny (as in ironic) -- soccer has always had the rap in the U.S. of being "boring." You know - sometimes an "exciting" game ends in a 0-0 draw. Even setting aside that there are plenty of relatively high-scoring thrillers in soccer, something I really like about the game is that it runs on a 90-minute clock and, with a few added minutes at the end of each half, that game is progressing and then ENDING in a timely, predictable manner. And I don't have to endure relentless commercial breaks or interminable replay reviews.
  18. Thanks. It came to me in a moment of clarity.
