  1. Return of the pedantic semantic? If it's leave as of now, then I'd guess it's an involuntary unpaid leave in contemplation of terminating him. There's probably a contractual provision that makes it more cost-effective for the school to place him on leave and then s-can him after a certain period of time elapses.
  2. Rick Pitino's been fired as a result of the investigation, allegations.
  3. I should like to hear reports of the team looking lively and entertaining. We should ... like that. /bad Queen of England impersonation voice.
  4. More of the same from GM TM - the guy loves the LAK organization and its talent pool. .... Oh. Right.
  5. Do recall that, of course. Wasn’t sure what the connection was to cheese.
  6. Hahaha. ... What?
  7. This is all more than fair. Fair, and agreed. The way in which he chose to respond to such a difficult chapter in his family's life is quite admirable. So, Komen's a scam, or close to it?
  8. Just received an email urging me to buy single game tix for the home opener, which is next week. I know that there's some optimism among the hardcore faithful (like, here), but if they're not selling out a home opener against MTL, I wonder what that means for their overall ticket sale performance.
  9. And as for Swiss. Melted? Gimme gimme. Raw? Blechk. Too stinky in the nose for a sandwich.
  10. I generally ask my cheese-monger whether the rind of a particular cheese should be eaten. With most bries, the answer is always "yes."
  11. Huh? No shame in the game when it comes to cheese(s). Every now and then, we'll go bonkers with brie and prepare it more or less thusly: Slowly cooked on a low flame in a cast iron skillet with about 1/2-3/4 of a stick of melted butter into it. Once it's good and gooey, we remove and then add a small jar of our homemade preserves over the top. Then break out a bagette (sp?), and ... oh, God. So good.
  12. Provolone is a funny cheese. Sliced, it's my go-to on sandwiches. But when a block of it is on an apps cutting board at my parents' place (and it's always there), it's just not to my liking.
  13. Wegman's does a lot of things so well. One thing they do exceptionally well is cheese. They have a private-label (Wegmans) brand soft cheese (like a brie of sorts) from Italy that is one of my 10 favourite things to eat on the planet right now. I'm not even sure what they call it.
  14. "two all beef patties, special sauce, processed cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun."
  15. What's the deal with this college hoops thing?
  16. As the imaginary Sabres player my wife created in 2005 when she could remember neither Briere's nor Grier's name, I agree. The Canadian version of the Big Mac jingle agrees.
  17. I would agree that being removed from the market allows you to think and feel differently about ol' Jim.
  18. Jon Anderson. Thanks for the tip.
  19. In fairness to Kelly, he led a very different life prior to finding religion. I don't think he'd ever deny that.
  20. Sure, I had a look at it after I was linked to it on Twitter. It's a blog authored by both of the daughters -- both of whom are of majority age by now, I should think, for whatever that's worth. And I think what's there is worth considering - very much so. Kelly fashions and styles himself as a prominent, leading citizen of WNY and Bills Nation. As such, publicly available information regarding the beliefs he holds and apparently teaches his children is newsworthy, to me. I've made no secret about the fact that I can, at most, politely abide the cult of personality surrounding Kelly. And I happen to think that the Bills would be better off if he took a step back and kept a lower profile.
  21. I wrote the phrase "hush. be cool" in another thread. I thought to myself - where'd I get that from? The recorded volume is a little low - but it is worth turning it up to hear some soulful righteousness.
  22. Although, I think the Sabres didn't get any draft picks in the Fasching deal. From the way I read the transactional history, the Sabres surrendered two 2nd rounders as part of the deal to get Fasching. Had we, in turn, acquired those two 2nd rounders from the Kings in exchange for Regehr?
