  1. I'll say that turnovers are a fickle mistress. Agreed on the initial point, and more than fair with regard to the latter. I'd just really like to see the D step up (again) in the next game. If they're down two starters on that back end, that could be a really tall order -- especially given how Carr looked on Thursday.
  2. Yeah - the D has been throwing oil the past 2 games. Dareus just can't get out of town soon enough. He always seemed like a lovable lunk, but, really -- take your 10s of millions and hit the bricks. He's that classic example of a guy who should not have been paid that sort of money. As for the QB remark, I won't go that far -- but there's no sense in denying credit where it's due. Tyrod was key to winning the game yesterday in the 4th quarter.
  3. Welcome news, but an awful surprise based on what I thought would happen as of mid-August. We have an Evertonian in the home, and he's been super bummed about how things have gone -- especially given the talent that was introduced to the squad.
  4. I suppose we all should have anticipated KO having something of a road to travel in order to get back.
  5. I know the team has been 4-2 and 5-1 in the past 17 years, but, for whatever reason, this edition of the Bills seems different. I'm still concerned that the offence is the product of smoke, mirrors, and duct tape. But they keep finding a way to get it done. The Raiders will be coming in rested, off a huge win. It should be another tough test.
  6. The right idea.
  7. A guy 2 rows down from me just took to hollering “SKATES!” for every time a pass went into a teammate’s skates. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My take: That comes down to focus and attention to detail. Maybe system plays a role — not sure where players are going to be, etc. But, to my untrained eye, it looked like poor focus. Yes 3x. That Rolston rush with 15 and 9 was more than I could bear. Bailey’s working his arse off, but I’m not sure he’s apt to be a full-time NHLer on a good team. Maybe? Something is rotten in the state of Samson. I don’t give a fig what the advanced metrics say about last night. Put him back with 15 stat.
  8. I was there, and sat in the Chet and Muffy seats with a good, active group of fans. All around me: Howls of absolute disbelief. Also, Tennyson? Eee gads.
  9. Wise words. A fire sale would be counter productive. Good post. But in re Reinhart’s post draft WHL season: It was widely discussed how he was intentionally sacrificing production for development and NHL readiness. Even so: He looked like a do nothing ho hum out there tonight.
  10. He is sound and fury signifying nothing.
  11. I went to 6 games last season. This game is worse than all of ‘em.
  12. Kane. Get out of Eichel’s way.
  13. Jesus Christ on a popsicle stick with the offsides call. The team is dead.
  14. It is true: Lots of passengers. No jam. No urgency. Also: Eichel is a god.
  15. Like. I was NOT prepared for the team to be demonstrably worse than last year. Sorry. I’m comparing this team to the team I watched live last season. This team is way worse.
  16. At the game. The Sabres are effing terrible.
  17. But maybe too simple. We also saw the stat that the team is out-chancing its opponents like 3 or 4 to 1 when he's out there, but shooting below 3% as well.
  18. Anyone hear Hamilton opine that Risto is going the way of Myers? It made me so irrationally angry to hear that. Mostly because it was just so lazy. "Myers started out good, and then sucked. Same pattern with Risto so far."
  19. Gabriel's Gate is still where it's at for wings, in the city. And then you also have the option of having wings there, and then rolling down the street to Allen Burger Venture for gastro-pub burgers (if you so desire) and a huge beer selection. I'll concur with the Elmwood Village scene. Many watering holes available. As for Ming Tei in Fort Erie, it remains good (and you cannot beat the view) but it is not what it used to be since the principal chef and artist sold to employees and retired.
  20. As am I. I had to be talked into it (because I'm old and tend to be tired on Fridays), but I'm sure we'll have a good time. Hopefully, the team contributes to a pleasant evening.
  21. This was good work, sir.
  22. Ahhh, the season starts NOW. NOW! MODO! Thank you, sir. And may (your) (G/g)od continue to bless and hold your family.
  23. As I think about it more, I tend to agree that a failure of proper preparation falls on the players more than the coaches. These guys are professionals. If they’re not sufficiently self-directed and focused, that’s on them.
  24. Fair. That should not be a problem, I reckon. But, having said that, WTF? What's with this core? Remember when Reinhart was benched last year? Is our young wizard-vision-2nd-overall-pick little more than a gee-I'm-just-glad-to-be-here putz?
