Ray Emery, former Ottawa goalie, reportedly drowned
That Aud Smell replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It's funny. I saw a lot of posts on social media about how Emery was involved in one of the Sabres' greatest moments ever -- and what people meant by that was the infamous line brawl. Fair enough. But I will always first associate him with what I consider to be one of the truly greatest moments in the franchise's history -- that OT winner. -

I can't help but associate Emery (and Daniel Alfredsson) with one of the most incisive colour commentary moments that I've watched/heard: Lorentz breaking down Pominville's OT winner in 2006. Also, I'd not seen this one before today: -
The only way I understand the Fleury deal is if it was partially done for business reasons. It will be interesting to see what the home crowd is like when the team comes down to earth — which I think it will this season. I hope that they continue or flourish, even with middling success.

Good on @Iron Crotch and @darksabre

My current theory: A member of LeSean’s crew, or a friend of a member of his crew, took it upon himself to engage in some “self help” in service to LeSean and/or possibly in service to his own pecuniary interests. The individual responsible may also claim to police that McCoy “authorized” the action because he exclaimed words to the effect of “will NO ONE rid me of this meddlesome priest?!”
-
Don’t you dare.

Okay. No real theory, grand or otherwise. It’s just worrisome to you that a pro athlete might think he can shake up his mojo a bit by going back to a number that he’s always loved and recently became available, after three disappointing seasons. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. My opinion of this opinion of yours is that it’s wacky. And you may view my opinion that the number change is benign as cray cray. I do think the jury’s *very much* out on who and what Eichel will be as the team’s leader. Maybe in that regard we’re of a mind?

From the 911 call (from the ex-GF): "He took a diamond bracelet off my wrist,” Cordon said. “He just kept asking for jewelry. I think it has something to do with my ex-boyfriend.”
-
Oh ya. She seems out of her depth. That doesn't mean she can't learn to swim real quick, of course. Her decision to get the social media content taken down and then soften their position just a bit (in that interview most recently where CBS reported the former GF is no longer sure (although no quote from the attorney)) seem to suggest that the lawyer's trying to take a more deliberate approach to the matter.
-
I get all of that, I guess. And maybe it is actually a good business move. But, in terms of the hockey? The deal is nothing short of bizarre.
-
The attorney seems like she’s trying to find her sea legs a bit. Her written statement regarding the incident definitely implied McCoy’s involvement. Now I think she’s realized the risk associated with making those kinds of statements without knowing what the facts will bear out. Also: What’s with the bed sheet out the second floor window and the missing 16 year old? Did the assailant use that bed sheet as a means of escape (cliche!), or was it the kid who skipped out after hours? I did see the report that the kid Uber’d back home and was no longer missing. Was his absence tied to the incident somehow? Or just coincidental?

As is often the case, we may be be left wondering if the walk-back was prompted by the tender of cash or other valuable consideration. Although, a turnaround that quick would be pretty remarkable.
-
Actually, this is sort of equivocal. Here's the quote (which does not contain a quote): Cordon's attorney Tanya Mitchell Graham told CBS News the jewelry were birthday presents from McCoy. Graham also said her client is no longer certain the NFL star was involved in the attack.
-
I can't see it on Twitter, but there's talk of a significant development. Maybe the estranged girlfriend walking back her story re McCoy being involved?
-
So much for McPhee being a genius.

The sledding's easier in Italy's top flight, though. That makes sense, yeah? Back to the UK. I will never stop resenting him for the bicycle kick goal he scored against Liverpool in the CL final.

Fwiw, I read it more or less as "oh, you're one to talk."
-
One last thing: You really can go sh1t in your hat with that "mind hive" stuff. Lotsa smart people on here. We often disagree in all sorts of varying combinations. People can think for themselves. Just because an opinion of yours finds no purchase doesn't mean that everyone is falling in line with group-think. And I'll add: I think there's a chance that Eichel as the chosen one and face of the franchise may prove to be a fundamentally flawed hero. We'll see. I just don't think that changing a number has anything to do with anything.
-
Oh, behave. If I may: Your opinion is that the number-change is strange, odd, that it indicates some sort of problem or issue, and/or that it is worrisome -- yes? So, there's gotta be a theory underlying that opinion. What is your theory? Or, what are your theories? [Hushed, awed, vaguely mid-southern/Appalachian child's voice]: You bin out there, Uncle PA? ... Whuss it like? And, please, do hit us up with a link.

You mean CARE inn?

Those are available narratives -- you have to provide your own tinfoil hat, though.

Tip of the hat to those who said his stick was too long.

You know Marian Hossa, yeah?

I'm sure it's hyperbole and all, but it's still frickin' fun to have a prospect who gets talked about like this.

The upgrade has been aces on so many levels. The emoji function is the one downside I've noticed.
