  1. I backed way the heck off this issue a while back, but I'll continue to monitor it just the same. #TheGodSquad The son of a minister, Nathan Peterman has always had a close relationship with God. His father, Chuck, founded Creekside Christian Church outside of Jacksonville. For Peterman, his father’s advice comes through the spirit by which they live. “That’s who we are, and I don’t think you have to be a pastor to do that either,” Peterman said. “That’s just our whole life. I don’t think there’s a separation between the world and the Christian world. We see the world through that lens. Every talk we have I count myself lucky to have that great advice from him that I know is coming from the best advice ever written on Earth. I’m so thankful for my dad I can’t even put it into words.” https://www.buffalobills.com/news/how-faith-and-competitive-fire-drive-nathan-peterman-to-achieve-his-ultimate-goa
  2. I am solidly in the "solid G" camp. I had to slow my roll considerably, though, when I learned that the inventor of this file type came out and said that it was supposed to be pronounced jiff.
  3. I've watched them play. I can't say I see that question as legitimate. That said, I acknowledge that you later say that Jack is different. I think the overall topic here -- can Jack be smarter as he enters the zone -- is an interesting one. I would fully expect him to get better in this area, especially if he can find a solid winger pairing with whom he clicks.
  4. Yo -- Tankfruit. That is the first I'm seeing it. Funny.
  5. My take (which I've given before on other hirings) is that he's the sort of talent TBN will be looking to hire going forward -- young, cheap, multimedia-friendly, apt to move on in a few years.
  6. That’s odd all around.
  7. Fair. So, maybe the year in which he was misused coincided with the start of his decline? Because the next year, he was doing nothing in Miami and then he was out of the league.
  8. Right. I'd forgotten that. Rex made Mario fit his system, not vice versa. In retrospect, Mario was also in decline at that point, I suppose. But, yeah - I guess he mostly lived up to his end of his deal. Also, he gave us this (which remains one of my favourite Buffalo athlete things ever): https://www.instagram.com/p/vpDf5ppy2J/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  9. I've never done any kind of post mortem on the thing. My working sense was that, since the team didn't really improve much with him, the signing was a failed venture or experiment. He was here for, what, 4 seasons? Earned ~$67.5M cash over that time? $16.85 per year? /does minimal Googling The most recent splash the Bills made in free agency was in 2012 when they signed defensive end Mario Williams to, at the time, the largest contract in history to a defensive player. Williams played four seasons in Buffalo (2012-2015). For the most part, Williams lived up to his lucrative contract, racking up 145 tackles and 43 sacks in his tenure with the Bills. Williams constructed two straight Pro Bowl seasons (2013, 2014), earning First-team All-Pro honors once (2014). Williams, coupled with Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams and Jerry Hughes, formed one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive lines in recent history. Their front four broke Buffalo’s sack record in 2013 (57 sacks), totaling 111 sacks in two seasons (2013, 2014) while finishing with the fourth-best defense in 2014.
  10. Now, now. Don't be obtuse. That would require me to post my favourite line from Andy Dufresne. I have no idea where that .gif is from -- but the actor is, to my eye, clearly doing a "the wha-- now?!" double take. So I'll be even more clear: The Mario Williams signing worked out for the Bills? How so? ALSO. I admit that I have become an absolute fool for posting media up in here, now that the site's been upgraded and it's so easy to do it.
  11. You're a goddamned hero is what you are.
  12. And I think you may be over-simplifying the matter. He's a terrific talent, sure. But, for starters, what of the overall architecture of Beane's roster and salary cap model for the franchise? Does McDermott's approach favour the signing of a high-price-tag stud edge rusher? Given McDermott's apparent preference for rotating fresh players in on the D-line, I'm not so sure.
  13. Well, now, maybe you are coming from the "hometown guy" "it'd be so damn cool" angle, at least in part. I trust Beane and McDermott to stick to their plan, and try to make it work (hopefully it will). If Mack fits into that plan, then go get him. But, please. We had our Mario Williams episode. I don't need another splashy FA signing just because the guy's an absolute beast, etc.
  14. I think this is right. And it really does remain to be seen whether inadequacies as a 2-way player will limit what he brings to the Sabres. Can't say I'd recommend kissing that guy's jock in any event -- never know whether that skin condition could be contagious. Beat me to it.
  15. Good point. It is the same everywhere you go, as you say.
  16. I hadn't focused on that, actually. It's more than fair to infer that there was some sort of quid pro quo with the real estate firm. My guess: Howard Hanna's PR person pitched the story to an editor at TBN. And maybe Howard Hanna will now increase its placement of ads in TBN in the coming months.
  17. Not sure. The reporter is a general business beat reporter - he reports on a wide variety of stuff. Honestly, I should just withdraw the original observation. "Newspapers" are under such duress that whatever they're doing, within reason, to drive clicks is probably okay. It used to belong to Losman.
  18. TBN piece was an 800-word story that, in the physical paper, was published above the fold on the front page of the Local section with a cropped photo of Eichel and Whaley.
  19. That's the one.
  20. Watch the clip. He's in a dark jersey. Comes in at the end of the play. Probably not even playing "D" in that game. But whatever.
  21. I'm down with this, but not for any of the story line line reasons (because it just feels right, or would be cool, or whatever). I'm not saying that's where you're coming from, btw. I'd want it to happen only if it truly fits into what the team is otherwise trying to do. Like, would Mack be able to take over for Alexander? And would paying that position that amount of money fit into what the team wants to build? If so, have at it. If true about his off-field stuff, it is a somewhat curious acquisition. I am really hoping he stays healthy and lights it up. Btw, someone Tweeted (is it upthread too?) about how the Bills blew it when they traded with CLE to get Watkins, and so now it's almost like payback plucking a talented young WR from them for next to nothing.
  22. Miller's house was/is an absolute beaut. I also recall when he lived in some apartments on West Ferry -- they're set back a ways from the street. Between Delaware and Elmwood. That was back when he was trying to rock an anonymous MySpace account and talk about grocery shopping. Losman lived on Oakland for a while, I think. I think the noise of his drums (???) prompted a move to one of the early luxury condo renovation projects downtown.
