  1. I was at the stadium, and it was *fun* when the kid came out to start the 2nd half. The crowd (such as it was (decent)) rose to its feet and got loud. And then he damn near hit a huge play. Like I said: Fun. Also, I think that drive went three and out because of a dropped pass. Credit to the new OC. The QBs in the first half got a bunch of easy completions based on scheme, routes, etc. Yes, yes -- the D plays vanilla. But so too does the offence. The QBs executed very well. Also with regard to Allen's accuracy: I too saw nothing to suggest he'd be inaccurate. I mean, that 60+ yarder to start is incredibly difficult to hit. And the bomb that was missed in the end zone was not inaccurate -- that was a good ball that a guy like Coleman likely catches. That touchdown at the end? Supremely accurate. Lots of good balls from the rookie. The passes that looked bad were from poor decisions (I ain't worried) and what looked like some miscommunications (QB had the WR breaking to the sideline, but WR stayed inside, etc.). There were at least 2 bad drops, too.
  2. (Edit: The hats are apparently there, on another splash (?) page.)
  3. I went looking for those hats at the One Buffalo online store (they're not there, yet). In so doing, I came to learn, for the first time, that One Buffalo apparel has three designers: Jessie, Kelly, and Matt Pegula. https://shoponebuffalo.com/collections/onebuf In this way, the Pegulas start to resemble the Kochs.
  4. Also, and it occurs to me, that I'm not saying that smells trigger specific memories of specific instances or incidents. On the contrary (?), I think smell has a unique power to bring back more of an overall, synthesized memory, if you will.
  5. It is NOT different for everyone and you WILL agree that smell and memory are tied together like peas and carrots. I'll wait.
  6. Dear God those are ugly. And, not even "ugly" as in "yeah, so ugly that they're sorta fun." (Like, arguably, the turd burger.) Good job, good hustle, Jessie.
  7. Heavenly place. Cape Breton especially, for me.
  8. Good stuff. I've literally never even Googled it (and I could, but pfffft), but I am nonetheless *convinced* that the sense of smell is the sense that is most tied to memory. Jesus Christmas is it weird. I have so many examples. Case in point: I dated a woman in my college years who wound up being frickin' insane. Well, not insane like psychotic, but neurotic enough that she became really unhinged and unglued at times. She had a perfume that she wore each day -- and it was therefore a calling card of sorts. When I do happen to smell someone else wearing it, I immediately feel a surge of adrenaline, then a vague ... stirring (I'm just a man, after all), and ultimately a squeamish feeling of panic and dread.
  9. NASCAR country; NASCAR number.
  10. That very last bit in Harrington's Twitter bio hints at so much that is problematic about him. Hey, Mike: It is not about you. It isn't. Ever.
  11. For whatever reason, I failed to see it.
  12. I backed way the heck off this issue a while back, but I'll continue to monitor it just the same. #TheGodSquad The son of a minister, Nathan Peterman has always had a close relationship with God. His father, Chuck, founded Creekside Christian Church outside of Jacksonville. For Peterman, his father’s advice comes through the spirit by which they live. “That’s who we are, and I don’t think you have to be a pastor to do that either,” Peterman said. “That’s just our whole life. I don’t think there’s a separation between the world and the Christian world. We see the world through that lens. Every talk we have I count myself lucky to have that great advice from him that I know is coming from the best advice ever written on Earth. I’m so thankful for my dad I can’t even put it into words.” https://www.buffalobills.com/news/how-faith-and-competitive-fire-drive-nathan-peterman-to-achieve-his-ultimate-goa
  13. I am solidly in the "solid G" camp. I had to slow my roll considerably, though, when I learned that the inventor of this file type came out and said that it was supposed to be pronounced jiff.
  14. I've watched them play. I can't say I see that question as legitimate. That said, I acknowledge that you later say that Jack is different. I think the overall topic here -- can Jack be smarter as he enters the zone -- is an interesting one. I would fully expect him to get better in this area, especially if he can find a solid winger pairing with whom he clicks.
  15. Yo -- Tankfruit. That is the first I'm seeing it. Funny.
  16. My take (which I've given before on other hirings) is that he's the sort of talent TBN will be looking to hire going forward -- young, cheap, multimedia-friendly, apt to move on in a few years.
  17. That’s odd all around.
  18. Fair. So, maybe the year in which he was misused coincided with the start of his decline? Because the next year, he was doing nothing in Miami and then he was out of the league.
  19. Right. I'd forgotten that. Rex made Mario fit his system, not vice versa. In retrospect, Mario was also in decline at that point, I suppose. But, yeah - I guess he mostly lived up to his end of his deal. Also, he gave us this (which remains one of my favourite Buffalo athlete things ever): https://www.instagram.com/p/vpDf5ppy2J/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  20. I've never done any kind of post mortem on the thing. My working sense was that, since the team didn't really improve much with him, the signing was a failed venture or experiment. He was here for, what, 4 seasons? Earned ~$67.5M cash over that time? $16.85 per year? /does minimal Googling The most recent splash the Bills made in free agency was in 2012 when they signed defensive end Mario Williams to, at the time, the largest contract in history to a defensive player. Williams played four seasons in Buffalo (2012-2015). For the most part, Williams lived up to his lucrative contract, racking up 145 tackles and 43 sacks in his tenure with the Bills. Williams constructed two straight Pro Bowl seasons (2013, 2014), earning First-team All-Pro honors once (2014). Williams, coupled with Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams and Jerry Hughes, formed one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive lines in recent history. Their front four broke Buffalo’s sack record in 2013 (57 sacks), totaling 111 sacks in two seasons (2013, 2014) while finishing with the fourth-best defense in 2014.
  21. Now, now. Don't be obtuse. That would require me to post my favourite line from Andy Dufresne. I have no idea where that .gif is from -- but the actor is, to my eye, clearly doing a "the wha-- now?!" double take. So I'll be even more clear: The Mario Williams signing worked out for the Bills? How so? ALSO. I admit that I have become an absolute fool for posting media up in here, now that the site's been upgraded and it's so easy to do it.
  22. You're a goddamned hero is what you are.
