I agree that the team needs time to investigate. It sounds to me like that clock started ticking - or should have started ticking - several weeks ago. It sounds like the team put itself in a bad position by not following up diligently when they should have. So now they want (need) more time, but the public perception is - not unfairly - that it’s past time when something should have been done or decided - one way or the other. I keep seeing that Bills in-house attorney’s name mentioned (DeAngelo). I’m hoping she won’t be scapegoated on the timing and scope of the team’s investigation.

Initial indications weigh heavily against that. Besides which: At a minimum, he’s already essentially admitted that he had sex with a 17 year old.

Why would the Bills risk squandering the incredible goodwill they’ve cultivated over a rookie punter? So strange.
-
They mean it to imply that their knowledge of the complaint’s allegations post-dates their cutting Haack. But, as you say, they’re being vague about it so they can avoid stepping in it. The kinds of specific - and horrific - allegations found in that complaint could (should?) have been enough to tip the balance against a player who was in a close competition. (From what I read in the camp coverage, it was a close competition.)

Bills seem to say otherwise:
-
Oy vey. If the Bills knew about the complaint’s allegations when they cut Haack — yuck.
-
Knowing of the report when they cut Haack is almost as bad (or as bad?) as knowing when they drafted him.

Welp.

See ya, Punt God. Welcome back, Hitch in my Step Haack.

Duly noted.

Best of luck to The Punt God.

I know it’s just preseason, but I’m cautiously optimistic about Dorsey’s approach. He may be a little less mad professor than Daboll. (Edit: Which is good. Daboll is brilliant. But there were times where he seemed to outsmart himself last season.) Also, a hot sunny day at the stadium is torturous. We left just before halftime. I found myself worried about all the flush faced little ones.

Yowza - true.

Yep to all that. I watched the clips of his dissembling today. Eff him.

The contract is sorta crazy. Because the Browns. But those QB deals are generally only outlandish until the next stud QB gets his big deal. imo, Watson was easily top-10 — week to week, month to month, he could be #1, top 3, etc. If he can regain that form, the deal will be well worth it. He’s still very young. This isn’t a Mike Vick post-jail situation. OTOH, I wonder what the mental strain will be like for him in the near term. He was gonna get hella booed no matter what — and after his statements today? Holy cow — he’s gonna hear it. For a while anyway. I wish him absolutely no success. I’ve concluded that he’s a POS.

Thanks. That was sugar high Josh with the wacky lateral.

I'm speaking only to the suggestion that Watson isn't *that* good at NFL quarterbacking. IMO, he's easily a top-10 QB in the league. Or at least he was. A difference-maker at the game's most important position.

Hmm. Idk, man. His heroics in that wildcard game (?) against the pre-Allen (Tyrod?) Bills were incredible. Also, food for thought: QB1 through 54 games: 68% completion percentage, 14,500 yards passing, 104 PTD's, career QB Rating of 104.5 (never below 98 in a single season) QB2 through 61 games: 62% completion %, 14,100 yards passing, 103 PTDs, career QB rating of 91 (above 93 for one season in career) I reckon folks can infer who's who (as between Allen and Watson). And, yes. Running is not factored in the #s above.

TIL that Perreault set the record for rookie goal scoring.

I will - we can all - sleep better knowing you're on watch for nickname abuses.

I don’t think it’s behaviour in need of an excuse. It’s a form of ball busting. What the British call taking the piss out of someone. It’s not that serious - not serious at all, really. Maybe The Punt God can lean on the Muscle Hamster for needed emotional support.
