  1. Thst gold medal game could have gone either way. Canada outshot the US, one could even argue they out chanced them as well. Zegras finds himself on the end of a lucky bounce to put the Americans up 2-0. Canada hits iron, narrowly misses some prime scoring chances losing a close one. That's hockey. I thought Cozens looked fine, he generated some chances and played a 200ft game, don't damn him to hell because they lost the game, my god. He was the leading scorer for much of the tournament.
  2. Looking forward to seeing Ullmark play. Hutton still looked like Hutton to me, he is what he is, a capable backup who can flash.
  3. Even if his eyes are good now, what happens if the issue creeps back up during the season? Sorry, he's a great dude, but based on the fact they kept trotting him out there last year with googly eyes, I have zero trust he'll be able to stop a beachball when it matters most.
  4. how many rangers/devils/islanders broadcasts will we be forced to watch on msg
  5. great lakes division Buffalo, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Pitt, Ottawa, Montreal
  6. Would love it if these games are played with more of an emotional investment... where players develop a genuine dislike for each other. It's how hockey used to be played, before it turned into a skills competition. With more emotion, comes more fighting, bring it on!
  7. @JShannonhl: For clarification... The NHL is interested in securing vaccine when and if it’s available for private purchase. Is it at this point? β€” no. The league also is adamant the it would not jump the line to do so.
  8. @JShannonhl: Source confirms that the NHL is planning the private purchase of a COVID vaccine for all constituents involved in the potential upcoming season.
  9. Sure he's off to a hot start, but I'm not buying the hype. He's an undrafted 5'8 23 year old who (historically) has been a 15-20g scorer in the finish league. What's his exceptional skill?
  10. Does this mean the 50th anniversary gold thirds are dead? Those were gorgeous, would be a shame to kick those to the curb for the butter knives.
  11. The latest embedded episode talks alot about how Quinn is a high character guy, has the right "dna" , etc. they're looking for in a Sabre. Were there any character concerns with Rossi? There wasn't one mention of him in that episode. Or did they simply pass on Rossi because Quinn was the more prolific goal scorer?
  12. Thats said, studies show that on average, junior players have higher shooting percentages than pros, which I'm going casually attribute to superior pro goaltending and defense.
  13. His shooting % was in the 20's last season. That's unsustainable, when it drops to 7-8% he'll score maybe 20g becoming a bust of epic proportions.
  14. Charlie? Haha, no way... first Kevin, now Charlie.... I went to school with Charlie (he was a smart kid) and played a bit with him back in the late 80's. Haven't talked to him in years, maybe I'll reach out and try to find out what he's up to.
  15. Let me do this then because it seems to be what you've been asking for.... Over the past 5 seasons he's played 391 games and has 145 assists, which is 0.3708 assists per game. That's an average of 30.41a over an 82 game season... which is 0.5 assists more than his career 82 game average of 29.93a. He's only played 82 games twice, so it doesn't even matter. For example, when the league hands out awards, or does statistical rankings, they don't care what your point totals would be had you played an entire 82 game season. It's the season total that matters, not extrapolated values... that makes no sense. This literally changes nothing whatsoever.
  16. I must be dumb because I honestly don't know what you're talking about or how I could have presented the data any more clearly.
  17. Really? You're offended because I used the phrase "dumb it down"? Wow, ok, hey I'm sorry then.
  18. Again, 2 distinct data points... 1 - mean of previous 5 seasons = 29a / season (which clearly does not include 9 game 1 assist season, as that was 6 seasons ago, not 5) 2 - career average of 0.365a per game, or 29.93a per season (includes 9 game 1 assist season since I clearly state "400 career NHL games")
  19. I disagree with the bolded. Anytime somebody says player X has averaged Y over the past N seasons... I take that as the total of Y divided by N. Not an extrapolated 82 game season average. Those are two very distinct slices of data. I apologize if I misled you, that was not my intent, I'll try to be more clear in the future.
  20. How am I trolling anybody? I've been very clear about the data I've presented. And to be honest, why do you care so much about that 9 game 1 assist season? I barely moves the needle for his career average, so who cares. What is clear tho, is some folks on here have an agenda, and that's simply to try their hardest to discredit anybody who disagrees with them. That said, my skin is thick enough that I don't mind at all engaging in those healthy sometimes heated discussions, but this finger pointing of "he called somebody dumb"... or "he made up fake numbers" type of takes just gets really old and frankly is just plain childish.
  21. LOL... fake numbers, what? And please show me where I called anybody dumb, I'll be waiting. Again, I presented two data points. He's averaged 29a per season over the past 5 seasons. (145 total / 5 seasons = 29) Next I calculated his career per game average and extrapolated that over an 82 game season, which IIRC came out to just under 30a per season. At no point did I use any "fake numbers" or call anybody dumb. Frankly it's tiresome, every time somebody disagrees with you they face a barrage of accusations about how they're so obviously wrong because either they statistics are made up or math is wrong,, etc, etc... Let me remind you, you're the one who presented the question about who is a better hockey player. I'm simply presenting evidence to counter those arguments suggesting Sam is an elite top line winger who drives play with elite vision and passing Obviously I disagree, and I've presented evidence to back that up. You're the "expert," where are all the numbers to back up your claims?
  22. Sam's assists totals each of the past 5 seasons.... 19 30 25 43 28 That's 145 assists... 145/5 = 29a per season Checkmate.
  23. prolly be because of Reinhart's "elite positioning" πŸ™„
  24. wrong. i used the mean of his previous 5 seasons which does not include the 9 game season. I even tried to dumb it down for you by calculating his career per game avg... still over your head, smh.
