  1. This is great to hear, but will likely be a few weeks before we see it translate into game action.
  2. please waive Hutton
  3. I liked Granato's post game presser, sounds like he has a plan, and is chomping at the bit to get after it and start to fix this mess at practice. He was spot on about puck management and playing with pace. I expect practices will be much more demanding and up tempo. Might take a few weeks with the sparse practice schedule, but I expect to see an improvement.
  4. I can imagine for the majority of practice time the players are just standing around huddled around a whiteboard trying to figure out RKs wacky system while he rambles on with long winded philosophical responses to every little question.
  5. Circling back on Dahlin, he was never explosive or fast but he's slower and more sluggish than his first 2 seasons. Reason one is he's put on weight... which is good, but only if done correctly without sacrificing speed and quickness. Reason two is RK's practices which are mentally more than physically challenging... you can tell because the entire team plays slow and is one or two steps behind in all areas.
  6. The team overall looks poorly conditioned. That won't change this season. Lots of mistakes at the end of shifts. You can tell training camp and the practices (do they even practice?) are not demanding whatsoever. They all looked gassed heads down struggling to get back in the play. Bag skate them for 2hrs/day for a month please K thanks.
  7. The metrics might not show it, but guess what... the score does... which is the only thing that counts.
  8. When did I say he's worst forward on the team? He's clearly not. However, again, he gets scored on at a higher rate at ES than any other forward on the team. To humor you, if we take away the 8 ENG's against. The team ES goal differential drops from -42 to -34. I'm gonna be generous and say Sam was on the ice for 6 of those 8 ENG against. That drops his +/- from -20 to -14. His expected +/- drops from -12.3 to -9.9 (-34 team ES GD x 29.2% Sam's ES %min). His TRpm drops for -7.75 to -4.1, great. BUT with TRpm you can't do it a vacuum, so you do the same for Dahlin, Hall, Olofsson, and Staal.... and Sam still gets scored on at a higher rate at ES than anybody else on team not name Dahlin.
  9. elite edges and agility sub-par quickness and top-end speed Good thing is he's still young, his legs should get stronger, hopefully build that quickness and speed, but he needs to train the right way. Faster than Bryson? No.
  10. There's no way in heck they should play this game.
  11. Show me where he's a -8 because of ENG against. You know this for a fact? smh BTW, still waiting for the statistical evidence that shows Sam is a net positive for the team at ES.
  12. When you watch guys like Makar, Heiskanen, etc... the first thing that jumps out at you is their elite quickness and speed. Dahlin is smooth and agile, but has below average quickness and speed. Just watching Bryson play, he makes up for a lot of mistakes just with his quickness and speed. Has he ever caught anybody from behind? Same question for Sam 🙂
  13. Are there still teachers in NY who can't get vaccinated due to supply issues?
  14. When you're the team's leading scorer and yet you're a -20 after 26 games..... you just think we should ignore that? Fine. Nothing jumps out at you there as hey, maybe he's not good defensively? C'mon. I provided hard statistical evidence that Sam gets scored on at a high rate when compared to his teammates. I'd like to see some evidence from the Reinhart apologists that illustrate he's a net positive for the team at ES.
  15. I never said anything about PP, goaltending, team defense, etc... I'm simply stating what the numbers are telling us, and that's that Dahlin and Reinhart get scored on at a higher rate at ES than anybody else on the team. IMO RK hasn't been using Dahlin correctly, he still young, growing, getting stronger, I believe he still needs to be protected a bit in how they deploy him. I'd argue the same can be said for Reinhart... he's not a great skater, weak on pucks, weak defensively, gets knocked down in battles, turns pucks over, etc.. He can be an asset because of what he contributes on the PP, his willingness to play the net front in the O-zone, elite hand-eye for deflections, etc.. Look, there are a lot of elite offensive players who are poor defensively with poor plus/minus. Howeer, do Sam's contributions to the offense outweigh his shortcomings in the other areas of the ice? At ES, the answer is clearly no.
  16. It's a skating league and he's neither fast nor explosive. His agility is off the charts tho, but if somebody gets a step on him, he's toast.
  17. I did, he's a fantastic role player, PK, faceoffs, excels defensively, smart.... every team needs a few of those guys. Anybody who's played the game knows It's not just about points. You need glue guys.
  18. Now change TOI to ES TOI and you're almost there. Staal is third worst at -7 TRpm
  19. You clearly don't understand TRpm. It removes the TOI disparity when comparing +/- of players on the same team. Reinhart and Dahlin are getting scored on at higher rate at ES than the rest of the team, that's a fact, prove me wrong.
  20. TRpm normalizes plus minus based on % of ES min played. Dahlin and Reinhart are getting scored on at a much higher rate at ES than anybody else on the team. That said I'm fine if they keep Sam but they need to do a better job of protecting his defensive deficiencies.
  21. -8 TRpm, second worst on the team to Dahlin's -13. Yeah the team around him sucks, but not everyone is a -20.
  22. I'm good with keeping him, sure put him w Cozens, but the LW needs to be defensively responsible and I'd be weary of DZ starts. There's a reason he's a -20 in 26 games. Yeah I know plus minus is a flawed stat, but -20? C'mon now.
