Love the Whale... I remember watching a Sabres/Whalers game as a kid, probably early 80's and the Whalers just pounded Buffalo... oh man, this song just over and over and over... what a time to be alive!
-
Reminds me of the RAV line. Young up and comers... That said, I don't think JBOT/Housley are on board with it. 2/3 or 3/3 prolly start the season in Roch.
-
Confirmed was at the game. Kings had their B squad, Ducks their A squad.

your Dad is a boss

Mittlestadt needed to be stronger on his stick that second CBJ goal. Good lesson to learn in preseason... still not sure he makes the team right away tho. I think Asplund is more NHL ready tbh.
-
No, you're going to get this after every game... He's their coach.
-
Jesus... let's try to keep it PG in here.
-
They looked like a typical Housley coached team.
-
had to do it...
-
Not PP. They talk about which players, Eichel in this case, are good at setting up teammates for one-timers 5v5 and how having Skinner/Sheary talent available on the receiving end should translate to more goals for even tho Skinnner statistically hasn't attempted many one-timers, which the author believes is just because of the level of talent he's played with in CAR.

I wish him luck, but really sounds like the smart thing for him would've been to retire. He's still a young man, has lifelong financial security and a young family to look after... I understand he's a competitor, but he's putting a great deal at risk by continuing to play.
-
IIRC, they did something similar last season. I'll predict Wilson, Larsson, Girgensons and Bailey make the opening day roster. Both Nylander and Mittlestadt will get sent down. Baptiste will get waived, clear waivers and start the season in Rochester.
-
Looks like he just rolled down off of Sesame Street.
-
...just for reference, ? I get it tho, one half of football against an uninspired Viking defense, with drive starts deep in Viking territory, doesn't make a career. But the idea that he needs 2 years of development to "even hope to make it" seems a bit far-fetched.

Honestly, I don't see any difference I their play from last season. Egregious turnovers on transition, forcing pucks back to he point for "hope and pray" shots, much too many grade A scoring chances against, lack of player development, huge question mark in net, uninspiring play all around. I understand it's just preseason, but we saw the exact same thing last preseason and it carried over all the way until the final horn blew. I'm sorry, I just don't see any of these guys skating through a wall for Phil. They changed out some players , but it looks like nothing has changed. They never make any in game adjustments, just keep doing the same things over and over and over again. It's not working. I've watched all the preseason games and all the same red flags are there from last season. Whatever Phil is trying to get them to do isn't working.

Sometimes I wonder if Coach Phil just pulls names out of a hat to build the lines. Reinhart with Berglund and Rodrigues? WTF Why not Reinhart with Eichel? Everybody knows that's inevitable. Thomspon has some promise but 1st line already? I actually liked Nylander's game better yesterday, why not reward him? And Okposo on the 3rd line with Larsson? What is he mission statement for that line? Don't get scored on? Head scratchers all the way around.

Sabres v Tornato 9/21/18... blow leaves blow at 7:30p

It's nice to see some of the young guns playing well.... but it's preseason hockey vs half NHL rosters or less. Let's be realistic. -
Old time hockey! He probably didn't even get a suspension.
-
It's one thing if he gives him a jab to the face with his glove on... but he drops his glove and pops him in one motion... that's frowned upon these days. pre-2000's nobody would've batted an eye at it.
-
Well... his brother had to retire from hockey because of congentive arthritis... at the ago of 20! It runs in his family apparently. What could possibly go wrong? haha That said, his skating style, combined with hereditary rheumatoid arthritis, may cause all of the above, none of the above, or some of the above....... premature arthritic joint pain, various back issues, low ankle sprains, hockey knee, high groin pulls, low groin pulls, hockey balls, premature celebration, mature celebration, and last but not least... juvenile wheelsnipecellyitis.
-
I don't believe it has to anything to do with strength or physical fitness. His musculature, joints and tendons apparently just can't handle the rigors of the NHL... which sucks.
-
He didn't play last night and hasn't been on the ice for what... 4 days and counting? Something's rotten in the state of denmark.

GDT Penguins At Sabres Preseason Game 2 MSG WGR 550

I'm not ready... can they push it back 2hrs? -
The Kings are faster than most people think. They played a much more up tempo game last season than in years past with Sutter... and I think they take another step forward in the GF department this season with Kovalchuk and guys like Kempe, and Iafallo taking another step... and Vilardi is high touted. LA really is the perfect situation for Vilardi who plays a game much like Kopitar, both similar in stature as well. However, much of their defense depends on the health of Quick. They way he plays is very hard on his body, I'd be surprised if he plays very much further into his 30s.
