  1. A small sample size, but sv% is at a 12 year low. Let's see if that continues. Also, PP% is at 32 year high at 22%. The last time PP% was at the 22% mark was in 1985-86....
  2. Just the top knuckle!? And you call yourself a fan?
  3. I'd like to see a year over year graph of league wide shooting percentage... @Randall Flagg @TrueBlueGED ?
  4. Not complaining but.... my latte wasn't quite warm enough this morning, off by a few degrees.. and frankly I was a bit upset about it so I feel it's healthy for me to vent. Thanks for listening.
  5. I've slightly softened my stance on this. Putting Larsson in over Elie is a wash IMO. Putting him in over anybody else, Sobotka, Pominville, Girgensons, Thompson, etc... is a step backwards.
  6. it's because of the slimmed down chest protectors. i've been saying it for years... you want to increase scoring? reduce the size of the chest protectors.
  7. JBots probably sent him out West to keep him as far away from Phil as possible.
  8. Haha don't feel bad! I'm a big boy, I can handle it. I'll say this... yeah, I may have been upset when they signed him, but after watching him play I'm actually pretty excited for his future. Watching him play reminds me a bit of Brian Campbell.
  9. Where's Matt Moulson when you need him?
  10. Well, he does score 1 goal every 20 games... maybe tonight is the night!
  11. morning exercise
  12. Phil has him on the wing. He was also a -30, and -10 TRpm. He was an anchor last season. They only reason he's playing is because Phil is too nice and wants to give veterans a chance to play. Alternative facts. In my expert opinion (I have zero proof), Beaulieu's CF% is artificially inflated by favorable offensive zone starts and easy matchups.
  13. Excuse me, what the ?
  14. Phil doing Phil things... ugh.
  15. The issue I have with Larsson is that he's not particularly good at anything. He can't shoot, how many times have we seen him fire it wide? He's not a setup guy. He's not particularly fast, nor quick. He's not big. He's not good defensively, was a minus 30 last season (TRpm around a minus 10, which is terrible on a bad team.. meaning he was why they were bad). He won 54% of faceoffs last year.. better retire his number. Girgensons is better offensively, he's bigger, and was a -12 last season... a TRpm of +8, they were slightly better with him on the ice. Larsson needed to be launched last summer.... but JBOT and Housley gave everybody a clean slate, so they all got a free pass... and so here we are.
  16. Hopefully he keeps it going, love his game. Would be nice to finally catch lighting in a bottle after all these years of whiffing on guys like Antipin, etc..
  17. I think it was Brett Hull who, when asked about playing sound defensive hockey, told his coach something like "Do you want me to play defense or score 50 goals?"
  18. Larsson had 4 goals and 17 points in 82 games last season, and was a minus 30. Can Elie do better? Or Sobotka? You can't break up Erod's line.
  19. Does anybody know if the NHL is enforcing the slimmed down chest protectors for goalies this season? https://ingoalmag.com/gear/nhl-prepared-for-feedback-as-goalies-get-new-smaller-chest-protectors/ "The biggest measurement changes involve the elbow floater (or elbow box), arms and shoulder floaters, which were also referred to as clavicle protectors in past NHL rulebooks. The shoulder floaters can’t be any wider than 5.5 inches at any point now, a significant reduction from the old 7-inch maximum. The maximum width of the elbow floater is now 6 inches compared to 7 inches in the old rules. Of course, that also meant reducing the width of the bicep and forearm pads in order to fit under that elbow box. The bicep pad is now 5.5 inches wide at the top and tapers down to 4.5 inches at the bottom, where it tucks inside the elbow floater. The forearm pad protection starts at 4.5 inches wide as it comes out below the elbow, and tapers down to 4 inches at the wrist. This includes a new rule for the shoulder cap that sits at the edge of the shoulder, which can no longer project laterally beyond the goalie’s shoulder more than 1.5 inches. It’s a more concrete and enforceable way to prevent the shoulder cap from projecting well out to the side, which allowed some companies to create legal NHL units that looked a lot bigger than intended."
  20. Generally I would agree about gameday skates being beneficial, but IMO it would help these guys to take extended breaks from gameday skates throughout the season so they can catch up on rest and get a mental break away from the routine. They do plenty of dryland activity in the hours leading up to gametime to stay loose and keep the muscles warm. It really becomes a grind late into the season, atleast it was for me in college, where you really started to look forward to getting away from the rink for a little while. The routine of dressing, undressing, showering, twice on gamedays becomes excessive.
  21. I think Tage is where he needs to be right now.
