You can never be too deep with prospects. All of them.

overpay for a trade friendly deal i suppose
-
immediate upgrade, but was curious to see what Savoie could produce in Rochester.

Nice. Levi will be better served playing big minutes in Roch vs backing up UPL.

I, for one, like the moves he's made so far. Love the move for Melanstyn. He provides everything this team is lacking. He'll be a fan favorite right out of the gate. Immediate upgrades to the bottom of the lineup. Still plenty of time to add before the season begins, I'm not concerned.

Sabres Draft #14: Konsta Helenius, 5'11" 189lb Center

IMO time will tell us this was overall a very weak draft. Seems like the vast majority of top picks have their fair share of warts. My expectation are low. -

Hellanus could wind up being a really good pick in the end. -

someone tell me how to feel about his -
On talent alone he's a top 10 pick, reminds me so much of Kyle Connor. He's matured tremendously over the past 3 years, he's been a model teammate and citizen. I wouldn't be surpirsed to see him go top 15.

For the record, IMO it would be a huge mistake to unload prospects who they've spent years developing simply for a quick fix. They're not one or two players away from being a Cup contender. They need to continue to draft well and develop their own prospects. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Jeff Skinner rumors, trade and buyout speculation swirling
pi2000 replied to Flashsabre's topic in The Aud Club
I believe strongly that Ruff taking the job was contingent on the fact that Skinner would not be part of the team moving forward. Ruff talks about not immediately jumping at the opportunity when he first spoke with KA... so it would seem that Lindy initially had some reservations, which KA likely promised to address. -
Over the past few decades, the league has introduced a number of rules to discourage fighting.. instigator penaly (1992) aggressor penalty half-shield requirement (AHL 2006, NHL grandfathered in 2013) penalty for voluntarily removing your helmet before a fight (2019?) penalty for unattached fight strap (2010's ?) ..combine all the above with the introduction of a salary cap in 2005, and there's really no more roster space for goons. But yeah, I get it... most folks would rather watch all-star game type skill competitions instead of a mix of skill, toughness and fighting. From a business standpoint (revenue) the league is doing their best to make the game more attractive to a larger fan base and grow the game.. which is fine, but for me personally, the product on the ice is not as entertaining as it once was. Hockey used to require some minimum level of toughness, or you didn't play. That's no longer the case, and that sadness me a bit.
