Sabres RFAs Receiving Qualifying Offers from the Team
pi2000 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The problem is these clowns can't even defend... at least not at an NHL level. They have minor league skills with NHL experience... which puts them on the 4th line of one of he worst teams in the league. -

I didn't say they were related. However, both statements are true. -

Thank God we're resigning Larsson and Gigensons and got rid of that bum O'Reilly. Progress. -
That has nothing to do with being sheltered. SJ is a much better team, they have many many more offensive zone starts vs defensive zone starts. Burns and Risto are both top 10 in the league in avg TOI. SJ is not pulling Burns off the ice when he's up against top lines.
-
What? None of Giordano, Burns or Hedman played sheltered minutes. And to mention Risto in the same sentence is laughable.
-
If Risto is a guy that needs to be sheltered, then he doesn't belong here.... unless he's willing to sign for less than $3m.
-
Moving McCabe and keeping Risto is moving in the wrong direction. McCabe is a much better defender than Risto. I would argue he's the best defender on the roster. It would be a huge disappointment if they moved him.
-
I'd take Zegras or Turcotte over Caufield. That's it.

I thought Ullmark should've played the bulk of the season in Rochester.... instead of playing 1/3 of the games in BUF. Woulda been better for his development. Hutton tho...
-
STL should give Botterill a ring.
-
Move Ralph Kruger to president of hockey ops. Woulda hired Tippett as HC, but that ship has sailed, so give a big offer to Sheldon Keefe. Trade/release Girgensons and Larsson. Trade Risto for anything fair, maybe package him with a pick to move up a few spots in the draft to nab Turcotte. Acquire a proven veteran starting goalie. Target a C in free agency and bottom 6 character guys. Consider starting Mittlestadt in Roch, with Thompson and Nylander on his wings to develop some of that chemistry they flashed in the prospect tourney. Let them dominate and lead Roch to a title.
-
I liked the Montour deal. But not starting Mittlestadt and Thompson in Rochester was a failure. Hutton signing, meh.
-
Disagree. I saw the Housley hire as a bad move from day 1.... it was obvious the team needed an experienced head coach with a strong personality and leadership abilities.
-
Saw him play at BU a few times last season. Impressive.
-
TRpm tho
-
What does Kruger bring to the table that suggests he can fix Risto's game? Housley was supposed to be the guy to fix the D, and we all know how that turned out. Kruger brings positivity and leadership, which is great, but I don't see how that will translate to a better Risto.

With this contract, does Skinner get more ice time in OT? Or does Sobotka still get sent out there to take faceoffs?
-
BREAKING my ducks source is reporting that the Sabres are going to sign Jeff Skinner.
-
ROR and Skinner are the new Drury and Briere.
-
The solution is to groom their own talent so they have the opportunity to offer them extensions while still under contract.
-
He had a career year on an expiring deal. It happens. It's not like he was a Sabre 2 years ago and we could've offered him an extension. This is why he came so cheaply via trade. The risk that he walked after his deal was very high.
-
This is correct, and BUF will be better off letting him walk for +9m and using that money elsewhere. Anybody can buy. It takes an artist to shop.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
