  1. I know what it does. Player tracking, how far they skate, a history of their on ice positioning, their speed and acceleration, etc etc.... all things a good coach can see with his own eyes.
  2. Because a gps device isn't going to help fix what's wrong with this team. I'd rather they focused 100% on fixing what's broken. It's an unnecessary distraction.
  3. Its not a big deal .. just would rather hear him focus on how he's going to clean up the dzone play... But I understand that wasn't the question he was asked.
  4. You don't need a tracking device for that. This isn't peewee hockey where the coach is calling for line changes. The players manage their own changes, the coach just calls out who's next. The only possible benefit I could see is for managing player usage later in the season? Maybe giving a guy a game off or two to recover if his fatigue level is high... but even that can be determined just by talking with the player.
  5. You don't need gps to tell you if a player is getting tired. Shifts are 30-45s for a reason. If you're tired after 20s due to a hard back check and battle, then you change early if given the opportunity. Using a tracking device to tell you what you can already see seems unnecessary. Analysis paralysis. They should focusing their time and effort on improving game play.
  6. Why tho? They can clearly see where they are.
  7. What else is he supposed to say? "I'm extremely concerned, his asking price is just too high".
  8. Don't know if he'll work out or not, but he sounds like he has some natural leadership abilities, and passionate. A nice pivot from Housley. Hopefully a better fit for a young core needing some direction.
  9. Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.
  10. I want to like this guy. I want. To believe.
  11. This is nothing like the Stamkos situation... let's face it, Buffalo is not at the top of any UFA's lists of most desirable NHL cities to play in. And Stamkos spent his entire career in Tampa, not just 1 season and on a ***** team. Reality is, the closer this gets to the tampering period, the more likely he signs elsewhere.
  12. ROR wasn't the reason they were losing. Why he was traded, we'll probably never know.. but to think JBOT would pull the trigger on a trade because of what was said in the locker room cleanout media scrum is just being naive. It was most likely due to several factors... his lack of straight-away speed (Housley's "system"), his lifestyle choices, and the very likely possibility that he asked to be traded. It sucks, yeah, but I'm glad he's in the right situation... surrounded by experienced vets who allow him to be himself.
  13. Sounds like they'll take a goalie at some point.... I like this guy... https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/265409/mads-sogaard 6'7 and his name is Mads. ***** yeah... sign me up.
  14. Whenever I read this thread title, I think what kind of watch he's going to buy after signing his new contract.
  15. Brock Nelson 100%... and Zucarello. Nelson's uncle is Dave Christian who won Olympic gold in 1980, and his grandfather and Great Uncle both won Olympic gold in 1960.
  16. If it was gonna happen, it would've been done by now. Skinner is as good as gone, and it's probably the right move if he asked for more than $8.5m. Time to start seriously looking at UFA wingers and I'm OK with that.
  17. So, just for the record, that's a hard pass from you on the all time USNTDP goal scoring leader because he's "not a complete player" at 18 years old? Gotcha.?
  18. ..because generational snipers are overrated.
  19. Do they still have The Viper?
  20. Not a physical player, weak on his skates, easily pushed off 50/50 pucks... lacks determination in the d-zone. Forecheck is weak. Doesn't skate well enough to be a difference maker on the back-check. Not a vocal presence, lacks leadership qualities. TRpm of +4.5 is just OK on a bad team. 35% on faceoffs.... terrible. Below average shot, not a threat to score from the outside. Career goal %: He only puts up numbers when playing with Eichel. An inconsistent player, disappears from the scoresheet for long stretches. That said, I like Sam and hope he continues to grow, but I don't see him as a critical piece moving forward.... certainly not in the same conversation of a Mitch Marner.
  21. Caufield does stuff you can't teach.... he's the pick if he's still on the board IMO.
  22. Gonna need you to underreport pull-ups for A. Turcotte. K, thanks.
  23. Funny how everyone here is hammering away on Bylsma, yet he squeezed 81 and 78 point seasons out of these clowns, and without Eichel for 1/3 of a season.
