I've been forced to access that dark region of my brain these past few months since I've become involved again with a cell culture project. Nice. Outside of the phenol red, I've always thought that DMEM might taste like gatorade.

You doing transfections? OptiMEM rings a bell from when I was trying to stably transfect some 293 cells.

With our son my wife was extremely uncomfortable about a week before her due date, so I took her out to lunch for a spicy mexican meal. Her water broke that night. It's not terribly scientific, but we went for that strategy again with our daughter and it "worked" again. Her water broke within 12 hours of the spicy mexican food. I also feel the pain of those with shoulder issues, my shoulder is a frayed mess from being a pitcher in high school and some in college. I've learned to live with the discomfort.

I know a guy here who did exactly that. He cut and pasted his previous year self assessment into the current year form. Nobody said a word to him. Further proof that the process is largely a joke.

Matt Martin on the Islanders' success: a model for the Sabres?
Claude_Verret replied to PASabreFan's topic in Archive
I've made it quite clear that I fully disagree with your opinion on Miller, mainly because I'm a guy who needs just a tad bit more concrete evidence (read: any) before coming to such conclusions. Your Pegula "opinion I disagree with" is just more of the same. -
Matt Martin on the Islanders' success: a model for the Sabres?

Agree with the bolded, however it is my opinion that your conclusions about Pegula, not unlike the bad teammate narrative you built around Miller, suffers greatly from confirmation bias. In other words, when you view everything about Pegula through your meddling owner prism, then you are in turn skewing any information you see, hear or read to support your belief. -
Me to my Wings/Canes fan neighbor: Are you watching game 7 tonight? Neighbor: ahhh, maybe. Probably just the 1st period There you have it folks, your average NHL fan in 2013.

Moms. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

I use the amdro down here for fire ants, and boy are those little buggers nasty. I just found four or five mounds in my yard this weekend.

That's his way of telling you that he doesn't want the job. Business must be good. We put on a screen porch last year, and the first quote we got was close to $40k for the job. I couldn't stop laughing when my wife called me and told me that. We ended up getting it done for less than half that. You mean Amdro right? Or are you suggesting that he put his aunts on steroids?

Horrible analogy, unless you actually mean to imply that Pegula bought the Sabres with the sole intention of defrauding the fan base.

Nice! When I was 10 my family took a cross country vacation Clark Griswold Style (Chrysler K car in lieu of the family truckster), when in Washington state my Dad took us to the Olympia/Hamm's brewery tour (we also did A-B in St. Louis). He bought a six pack of Hamm's and brought it home with us with the intention of saving two cans, one each for my brother and I to enjoy as our "first beer" when we reached legal drinking age. Yes, he intended to keep two cans of beer for nearly 11 years, only to eventually poison both my brother and I with it. However, his plan was foiled after about six years when a friend of his was over and grabbed one of the cans out of the fridge, popped it open, took a big swig and then proceeded to spew the foul brew all over our kitchen. I've never had the opportunity to try a Hamm's beer since, but something tells me I'm not missing much.

Not entirely true, in another part of the documentary you'll hear it explained how a secretary at One Bills drive ruined their chance of signing Kelly before the USFL snatched him up. Kelly was at OBD ready to sign on the dotted line when someone from the USFL called the office and asked to speak with Kelly and his agent, and the secretary interrupted the meeting and put the phone call through! Kelly's team left and never returned. Edit: and in the grand scheme this was probably a good thing because with Kelly as QB in 83/84 instead of Mathison and Dufek the Bills likely don't suck enough in order to grab Bruce at #1 in the 1985 draft.

Rush in Raleigh tonight! F'N Fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN_DiqgDRos

Yep, and if you watch the excellent 30 for 30 documentary "Elway to Marino" on ESPN you'll hear former Bills GM Norm Pollom explain why they ended up taking Kelly with their second first round pick in 1983. edit: or you could just watch this clip. Basically Bills knew they were going to get either Kelly or Marino and didn't care which one they got at 14.

Canes shopping for veteran D. Who isn't, right? But clearly the canes need to beef up their blueline more than most teams this offseason. What might Sekera to the Canes fetch us? http://www.wralsport.../12404205/ Gee, you don't say?

I caught a bit of the Ducks Wings last night, and at one point they mentioned that Detroit just squeaked in to the playoffs allowing them to qualify for the twenty second straight season. 22 straight!!! I don't want to hear the words hockey and heaven used in the same sentence again in regard to the Buffalo Sabres.
-
I do agree with the premise, but as others have stated I have major reservations on those who would be directing and carrying out the process. We shall see. I've waited 41 years already, so what's a few more?
-
Wow, the no playoffs DT's have hit some of you hard this year.
-
Cheers man, congrats!

I'm going with this happening.

Has he earned the chance to try and prove he can be a #1? Sure. Has he actually proven that he can be a #1? Not by a long shot.

game discussion thread GDT: Islanders at Sabres, 4-26-13 7:00PM

If this is indeed Miller's last game I'm confident the fans in attendance will give him the proper send off, no matter what the outcome tonight. I agree that it's probably time to say goodbye to Ryan to aid with the rebuild, but I'd wager the likelihood of his departure isn't much higher than 50/50 (see Luongo).
