  1. My ideal offseason would look like this: Must do: 1) Trade VO. The second half of the season has clearly indicated he isn't part of the long term picture. Get the guy off the payroll/roster and trade him to a team that will utilize him. 2) Extend Dahlin and Power. Nuff said. One step below "must do": 1) Trade UPL. He has trade value unlike Comrie, get something out of him to un-crowd the goalie situation 2) Extend Mittelstadt. He's looked good the second half and shouldn't break the bank 3) Sign another top 4 capable defenseman Less important: 1) Rework the fourth line: This is the hard one. I'm not really 100% sure about what to do with KO/Girgs. My suspicion is that we will let one walk, and it will probably be Girgs. But since this is about what I want and what I think is best for the team, we are letting both walk. Get 2 decent 2-way players that can play the PK and let Jost walk. Krebs will continue on the fourth line, filling in for injuries at center on the above lines. 2) Work Savoie into the fold. Heck of a season from the guy in the minors, he has nothing left to prove down there. I would give Kulich/Rosen another year down in the AHL. 3) Vet goalie. An older goalie in the Craig Anderson mold. Someone to help mentor Levi and play like 40 games the first year and fade in any further years. Release Comrie and let another team pick him up. 4) Let Clague walk. Bryson I don't really care what you do with, so long as he is pushed far enough down the depth chart that we won't see him unless it's an emergency. This leaves the team looking like this: Forwards: Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Peterka - Cozens - Quinn Greenway - Mitts - Savoie FA - Krebs - FA Rousek is the thirteenth forward Defense: Samuelson - Dahlin Power - FA Stillman - Jokiharju Lyubushkin in the seventh defenseman Goalie: Levi - FA
  2. "Just fire it at the net" - Rayzor. ...unless you are Jokiharju
  3. "The Johnson watch" Nope, not going to take the bait
  4. Agree completely. It's funny.. based on his stats with the Wild and the way he was described when we traded for him.. I was expecting a better than average passer and a better than average defender. But yet he has 4 goals and no assists so far (3 in the last 4 games!). That goal last night was a pretty clean shot, he definitely looked like a goal scorer there.
  5. Kind of blown away by Mitts. You know these guys are going to get better as they age... but holy moly. He just turned it on halfway through the season and hasn't looked back since. 9 points in his last 6 games
  6. Quinn in the shootout is easy money
  7. checking in late... missed most of the game. Only saw the last 3 mins of OT. I see six Detroit goals, has Levi been bad?
  8. Mitts leaving it all out there.. you love to see it
  9. tage doesn't seem engaged in the game, playing more like VO just floating
  10. This series alone has made the Jeff Skinner contract worth it
  11. I know it's not the Sabres practice but...
  12. I know everyone expected the Sabres to be up and down this year, but this playoff race has just truly been unreal. Several times it has felt like they are completely out of it.. and then a few games later they are back in it. I guess where I am going with this.. is that it feels insane that we still have a good shot at this.
  13. Thanks for the correction, I think I was looking at the standings and they weren't updated yet. Sounds like they are definitely within striking distance!
  14. Isles lose in regulation to Carolina.. maybe they actually are still in striking distance? 6 points ahead.. but we have 2 games in hand. Just keep winning
  15. Also, I feel like this just needs to be posted after all the good Levi saves. Saw a lot of it when the camera cut to the fans 😄
  16. How can you not be excited after that game? Strong game from Levi. Pitt has Boston tomorrow in Pitt, that's a game that the Penguins have to lose if we want to have a chance. Keep winning Sabres.. give yourselves a shot edit: FYI: Pitt finishes the season vs Detroit, Chicago, and CBJ
  17. I was really rooting for this! Unfortunate way for the shutout to end with an odd goal like that
  18. If he wins today he will be given more starts before the season ends (and he might be given more starts regardless of tonight's results). So it's not like we will just have the results of this game to off of.
  19. They need to play defense like they have a rookie goalie more often
  20. Nice pass by cozens.. now please play some Def. I feel like we get scored on immediately after most goals
  21. Always have liked seeing Jost with VO, they had a nice run in the middle of the season until they jumbled the lines. Maybe adding Greenway who is an okay passer and decent defender will help the Olofsson/Jost line even more I know we are all (justifiably) not high on VO, but wouldn't be awesome to see him going on a tear as the season comes to an end?
  22. The isles are out of striking distance at this point IMO. But if Pitt continues at this rate, they are going to play themselves out of the playoffs. It's been there for the taking as pretty much all the teams fighting for 8th have gone ice cold. Pitt, Fla, Buff, Wash, and Ottawa have all been awful their last 10. It's almost like no one wants to actually take the spot
