  1. I believe Jack is going to start hot and then cool mid season as teams switch their focus to him (kind of like what happened in the AHL playoffs). I, personally, believe he's going to eventually be a ppg player in the NHL, but first he is going to need to figure out how to handle the increased physicality. Hopefully it's a non-issue and he already has learned from last year's AHL playoffs. In terms of point production, I'm going to guess about 50-60 points with a bunch of those points coming from the power play (assuming he stays healthy). I think he's going to be pretty far in the negative in terms of +/-, but will definitely be a force offensively this first season. edit: after looking at the poll options and seeing a few rookie of the year comments, I just wanted to say I don't think that is a crazy thing to think. If he has already learned from his lumps in the AHL playoffs, rookie of the year is definitely in play
  2. Seems like a pretty good signing (assuming that he is going to fill that tweener role b/w Rochester/Buffalo). Could definitely do a lot worse, we certainly had worse players in those final forward slots last year
  3. Ah, that is interesting. Thanks for that. Learn something new every time I come here, cheers đź‘Ť So, as for the draft process, only prospects that are interested in going to the NHL make themselves eligible for things like the combine? I'm guessing that inactivity with some of these pre-draft activities is one flag that teams look at to determine who may not want to leave their country? Although in his case, I'm not sure the combine was held the year he was drafted. Did Novikov verbally indicate at some point that he wasn't really interested in the NHL?
  4. Been curious about this fellow since I saw that he played significant minutes in the KHL this past season. What exactly is the reasoning that led to teams concluding this? If you have no intention to go the NHL, why enter into the draft? I feel like I am missing some piece of information here.
  5. I think the Sabre's success this season is likely going to hinge upon how well Comrie plays. If he plays good, there's a chance at the playoffs. If he doesn't, well we are probably headed back to the lottery. Here's hoping for the former and not the latter! It would appear he has been pretty good the last few seasons in spot duty, so I think there is a fair chance that he looks more like an NHL starter than not.
  6. I finished the entire first season of Outer Range. I remember coming to the end of the first season and being disappointed with the lack of answers. There are definitely some answers that are provided, but not as much as I expected. In the end, I felt like they created more questions than there originally were (there were a lot). That being said, I really liked the feel of the show and will probably watch season 2 despite it feeling overly "wacky" at times.
  7. I'd consider myself a casual fan. I have played for a pretty long time and actually still play in a men's league. With that being said, there's not much soccer that gets me excited. I enjoy watching the world cup, will occasionally watch the games like the UEFA champions league finals etc, and infrequently watch the USMNT. The EPL and all the other leagues like that (la liga, bundesliga, etc) are just too much and it is somewhat hard to follow from the US.
  8. I see a lot of people are down on Quinn after the AHL playoffs. However, I would be really surprised if Quinn returns to the Amerks next year. I know he had a rough end of the year, but we're talking about a guy that was the AHL rookie of the year. The guy can score and probably will be given the chance next year
  9. Wow this game sounds like an emotional rollercoaster
  10. As someone that was there, I agree. It was tough to watch and it felt like a punch to the gut. It's also important to keep perspective though. We're talking about a bunch of 20ish year old Amerks leading a professional team against a 1st place Comets team filled with both physically developed AHL vets and some younger talent sprinkled in as well. The Amerks have already advanced past the first round and were a game away from eliminating the Comets. They still have one more game vs the Comets to try to close out the series. No matter the final result of game 5, the young Amerks players have shown a ton
  11. Rough game to watch. Amerks were down a goal before we even got to our seats (granted we were about 10 minutes late). Was just a poor effort all around. They were outplayed in every facet of the game. Ended up leaving before the score was final. It was 4-0 with ~10 minutes left in the third. Going to need a better effort if they plan on winning in Utica on Thurs
  12. I am going! Up in the "nosebleeds" in 226. Let's go Amerks, close it out. Pretty pumped for this game. Have we actually seen Matthias on the Amerks yet in the playoffs? You can get it on the AHL's website (AHLtv or something like that). You can pay for all games in one night or the entire playoffs. I don't believe it's on ESPN+
  13. Same. Really excited about it though. Maybe JJ has that much sought after "clutch" gene?
  14. Looking forward to reading the updates since I'm cheap and not willing to "splurge" to watch the game!
  15. Thanks for the updates sir. Was checking in here every 15 minutes or so to see what was happening! Likely going to try hit up one of the two games vs Utica in Rochester (15th or 17th). If Quinn starts rolling and we get Matthias back, I like their chances of advancing vs Utica. Tough team though, they dropped a few to them this year.
  16. Really rooting for Rochester to get in here. Would like to attend a few more Amerks games this year!
  17. For as poorly as things looked midyear, it's really nice to see them building momentum into the offseason. It's been years since I've said this: I'm excited about the direction they are headed. Good things ahead hopefully
  18. Not the first time I have been asked that! Adopted the name from a character in a book. It's actually pronounced kuh-thay according to the author. Anyways, was excited to see Power not look over matched in his first game. Good things ahead for our young defenseman!
  19. Hi y'all! First post. Really excited to see Owen Power make his debut.
