I guess I should have clarified in a best weâve seen in a Sabres uniform in the last 20ish years. -
I look at it positively. The team is upgrading their house. And there are no Winnipeg-style ownership moaning about ticket sales or attendance while theyâre doing it.

I just think we are all sounding awfully thirsty to move on from our best offensive player weâve seen in 20 years (Briere). And on a reasonable contract to boot. I know you said perhaps, but to dump on him as leading the step back season doesnât hit right. I think heâs been playing hurt from the beginning of the year til the all star break. Iâll take Tage and that 5MM to spend plus my three first round assets plus Muel over Pett. Now if it was Mitts, three first rounders, and MuelâŚyes I do that. But only because of the abundance of first round assets we have in stock. I donât think many NHL teams would be able to match that offer AND can pay for a 12MM player. -

I get where youâre coming from, but that deal I replied to is not realistic. But it is fun fantasy hockey speculation. -

This would be insane. Elias had 102 pts last year to Tageâs 94. And Tage will make about 5MM less than Pettâs new contract. So why would Buffalo have to throw in the equivalent of three additional first rounders PLUS an NHL defenseman on a reasonable long term contract? That offer doesnât make any sense. -
I donât know anything about arena roofing, but 30 years seems like a natural life for a roof. The fact that the work is being done means the Sabres arenât going anywhere for a long time.

That offer is the equivalent of four first rounders. Granted, we can afford it. But it doesnât seem cheap to me. I guess we gotta spend those picks somehow cuz there isnât room for everyone. So bombs away. Maybe Dahlin can recruit him. -
where are the Sabres insiders on how serious the Skinner injury is??
-
Yes, a full no move clause
-
I donât have an opinion on his next contract, but since his healthy scratch and then given big minutes during the Power injuryâŚheâs responded perfectly.
-
For me to move off of Tage and his favorable contract, it would have to look like some of these Brady offers. Heâs having a tough year, but he has a nearly 50 goal season under his belt. Not many guys can do that.

I know youâre being sarcastic, but itâs actually true.

Only for this season. They will be fine next yearâŚ.granted they wonât have much cash to add via UFA in the offseason, but theyâll be fine. Kubalik and Tarasanko wonât return. A four million cap rise. Thatâs plenty to sign Pinto & Sanderson. Their problem is fixing their league worst goaltending. No easy answer for that and UFA route is proving unreliable for a lot of teams.

Evander Kane was the type of player we needed when we got him. Turns out more than the type of player matters.

The Sabres arenât going to change who they are or how theyâre building because Waltâs immature kid MIGHT be on the trading block. I will agree with you that it will not be an option to just roll this team out there again next year. It also cannot be an option to replace KO & Z with Rosen & Kulich. Vets will need to come in and prepare for it to be overpayments (via trade or free agency).
-
The Amerks are in a bit of a lull, but theyâll be fine. Theyâre only a point out of 3rd place in the division. And they just finished a seven game in eleven day stretch (without Kulich, Bryson, and some without Clague). Yes, six losses in the last ten, but as you pointed out, those loser points sure do come in handy. I also take that as a positive to grab points when theyâre not at their best. Levi has been a stabilizing force. Way more confidence in him than Cooley (or Toker for that matter). Maybe this is a rose colored glasses viewpoint, but I truly expect them to make playoffs and be dangerous.

Donât mistake his style of play as the only thing that matters here. If the Sens team captain has maturity issues, then you cannot bring him into the youngest team in hockey. His fresh start would need to be where thereâs a core group of veterans and this ainât it.

What I like about Greenway is heâs a pro. Heâs a fully grown adult. He kills penalties well and heâs never intimidated. I donât need him to fight or score. I need him to be a pro. Iâm glad heâs on the team.

Sabresâ Refusal to âSaluteâ Fans Confirmed

I agree. The Pens are your example of an older underperforming cap team.
