  1. Not only all of that, but he also has a winning smile!
  2. I could be wrong, but wasn’t that why the Sabres targeted Bernard-Docker?
  3. Every year I do this to myself. I slam six shots of hopium on July 1 because THIS IS THE YEAR we return to being a legit NHL franchise again. Trade JJP? I wouldn’t have done it, but five mil in savings toward getting someone even BETTER. A big fish! The Sabres aren’t even fishing in NHL waters. Again. I’m tired, boss. @dudacek’s penny pinching posts are spot on. Ugh. This team.
  4. Just mean you’ve got NHL goalies under contract for the next two years. So no logical seat for Devon. Not that the Sabres couldn’t move on from 1.5MM, but we pinch pennies all over the place so the second year is weird. Also, I am a Levi truther and expect him to be an NHLer soon. Perhaps as soon as this upcoming training camp.
  5. The second year perplexes me. If Adams had proven he is capable of moving on his mistakes, that’s one thing. But UPL & Muel are still here. So to me the second year kind of blocks Levi. Unless waiving Lyon is the plan. As much as I agree with Liger to waive UPL if Levi has a great camp, I have zero reason to believe Buffalo would do that.
  6. Weird cuz Kozak just signed a new three year contract.
  7. Does this put Josh Doan in Rochester?
  8. It is too much money but at least it is also too long.
  9. KA gave UPL five year deal tho. His second biggest mistake as a GM.
  10. I love Stamkos. I owned a Bolts Stammer jersey. He’s washed. Gonna be a no from me dawg.
  11. It was to be able to give Marner an eight year deal versus a seven year deal. Toronto signed him to an 8 year extension and then dealt him. Vegas gets their guy, the player gets max term, and Toronto gets something instead of nothing for the player. Tampering Shampering.
  12. I heard on this board we were doing something HARD to Marner tomorrow 🪖
  13. Just for clarity, the ‘on ice’ means it’s not just him but all of his linemates when he’s on the ice. Normal on-ice shooting percentage is around 9%. Great player makers like McDavid can get it up to 14% range over a full season (he had 13.24% last year, 9.25% at 5v5). Peterka had 15.06% last season and 14.23% at 5v5. So either 5v5 Peterka is a better playmaker than McDavid, Tage Thompson is a better finisher than Draisaitl/Hyman or it was unsustainable.
  14. I know trades are supposed to hurt, but throwing in Helenius hurts too much. I watched his first season in ROC and we’ve got something with this player.
  15. I chose Hagel because he doesn’t have any trade protection. Everyone else does except Sheary (who was playing the Amerks in the AHL playoffs in April).
  16. I would love to pry Hagel or Robertson. I would also offer Quinn or something to Vegas for Nick Hague (can play LD or RD). That might not get us to the cap max, but it makes this team a lot better.
  17. The Sabres have 21.7M in cap space right now. This includes the Skinner buyout. RFAs: Quinn McLeod JBD Byram (traded) A goalie (or Levi). Give Quinn 2MM, JBD 1.5MM, McLeod 4.5MM, and 1.5M on backup goalie. That leaves the Sabres with at least $11MM to spend. Or maybe they flip Quinn for a pick just to move on…now more cash to spend and a roster spot to fill. We know the team needs more than hoping Kulich will be a top six forward and could use someone high end now that JJP is gone. -Want to buy out Muel and give Marner 14MM? Done. -Prefer Ehlers and someone else? Go ahead. -Brock Boeser to help the center spine? Sure. -Overpay for Ekblad? All set. Other teams are desperate for cap space. Byram can be part of this trade, or the Sabres can move futures and prospects to cap strapped teams. -EP40? -Jason Robertson? -Maybe work out something with the Aves since they have no space and no picks in rounds 1-3 for 2025 and 2026? -Right the wrong by re-acquiring Brandon Hagel from cap strapped Tampa? The Peterka cap savings gives the Sabres options to be aggressive. For the purpose of this, I’m assuming the Sabres are spending to the cap (I know, how dare me). Who do you want?
  18. Here comes the craps. I can’t answer until I see what the Sabres do with the acquisition of more than 5MM in cap space. Great, got a RD and physicality. But they moved the better player. The key to determining if this was a good trade or not is how the Sabres spend the savings. Like, if they got Robertson now…good trade! And if they don’t spend it? Well, they flipping better.
