Porous Five Hole

You aren’t wrong, but please see my previous post. There has been a shift in philosophy and the Amerks have had positive results (four playoff series wins the last two years). Those players are only now aging into roles in Buffalo if at all.

I think the context needs to be when Adams & Karmanos began their roles. Since then, Quinn & Peterka earned stripes and call ups (point per game guys in the AHL). Krebs also got playoff experience. Rochester since then (and now) are surrounded by AHL vets to balance the roster. The organization has also been patient with Rousek, Rosen, & Kulich…who have all played well at the AHL level. They sent down RyJo to season. Maybe they’ll pan out or maybe not. But the Sabres are figuring out what they have with their prospects before promoting them (which wasn’t the case for Mitts & Tage). It takes time to reset the development pipeline and the Sabres seem committed to using Rochester properly. I’m not saying you’re wrong in your assessment, but I’m trying to point out that there are new philosophical differences in prospect management that need time to bear fruit.

That is one angle. The other might be that Jess has a pro tennis career to dedicate herself to for a while longer. And her hubby being let go doesn’t necessarily mean there’s any bad blood.

The Crunch have carried play, but they did not generate many high danger chances in games one and two. Rochester deserved to win game one and got beat by three deflected point shots in game two. Game three was another story. The Amerks looked feeble. Their zone entries were gross and they were terrible in their own zone. Levi was otherworldly. With all that said, a little puck luck could go a long way. They’ve all been one goal games.

ROC has not carried play, but they’ve had their chances including a 2-0 and could not cash. Mersch to the room after a puck in the face. Ostland will see more ice time and he has me nervous in his own end.

This is one of the greatest goaltending performances I’ve ever seen. The quality of saves Levi has had to make all night are just mind blowing. Levi up to 56 saves. ROC has to find a way to reward the beast.

In the arena, the feeling I have is that Levi is unbeatable tonight. I think the Crunch are second guessing shooting opportunities.

Yea Levi was exceptional that period. The play where Levi dropped his stick was because the shot hit his knob that hard. Very lucky there.

Do you think his reputation is turning around a little bit? He stuck with Granato to the tune of the seventh most tenured coach in the NHL. The GM is going into year five. The arena upgrade process is starting. It appears his meddling has reduced (family situation contributed). He’s handing out long term contracts. He’s only firing COO’s because they cannot keep it in their pants. Player facilities seem to be industry standard or better. While it isn’t a given that they’ll be a cap team this year…if they are, what are the complaints at this point?

Six series currently sit at 3-1. Someone asked me which team has the best chance to come back…the answer is probably none. But if I had to pick one, I guess Tampa? What would you say?

The Amerks could not win a defensive zone face off all day and it was enough to give Cuse low percentage point shot goals/the win. My kid had fun either way.

The Sabres just hired a head coach who is fifth all time in NHL wins. I don’t care that he also worked here eleven years ago. This is a veteran hire that fans have been craving.

I’m open minded here. The assistant hires will be vitally important. Accountability was never a problem with Ruff. He will make sure this team doesn’t peel off of a hit and his practices will be hard. He has pushed offense with his teams. He gets to finish what he started with this team so long ago in the “No Goal” finals.
