Semiannual How to Stream the Sabres chat
Porous Five Hole replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I understand. It’s my favorite thing. Not my favorite sports thing. My favorite thing. -
Signing a player in the offseason who is desirable on waivers is a questionable move? The Sabres think Levi is better and belongs there. I agree with them and I’m sure the team does too. Lumping Reimer in to make a point about the GM’s inexperience misses the mark.

Yea but now you have to watch this ***** -
At least he got a free trip to Europe for his troubles 😂

I know you like to cook young guys, but that’s a well done steak if Levi is here. I would rather he get 35 nhl starts than 50 ahl starts. I want him on an nhl practice rink and with nhl coaches. Agree to disagree.

I understand what you’re saying, but Levi is already too good for the AHL. His save percentage when playing in Rochester was .927%. He needs to be facing NHL shooters and NHL speed to continue to develop.

As a Rochester resident and Amerks regular, Sandstrom/Houser as the Rochester tandem is not what I had in mind. Yikes.

All the venom, and yet the Bills are a game clear in the division and set up nicely given the joke of the AFC East. Three months of football left. I’m not sweating the tiebreaker scenarios in week five. Lots can happen. The Bills were not favored on the road against the Ravens or Texans. And yet here we are with a get-right game against the Jets coming up. Heading toward 4-2 and the ghost of Tua the only divisional threat. We’re good. Meanwhile, Burrow’s Bengals are 1-4. We are ok here. Not that things could be better, but we haven't lost a game we should have. The Bills will be fine.

Do the Sabres make the playoffs this season (second edition)

To the bolded, I am convinced he’s playing hurt. He looks nothing like himself. I just hope it won’t linger all year. -

Semiannual How to Stream the Sabres chat

I cannot speak for PA and his situation, but I am in-market (ROC). This is the nuance needed to have the discussion. In market, my options appear simple: 1) cable for MSG. 2) MSG GO+ online (which is not cost competitive when comparing other markets) at $30/month. PA has articulated his issues with quality in the past… 3) Yo ho ho (🏴☠️🏴☠️). This is a hard stop for me. I need to rely on 1080 high def on my tv to enjoy it. So yea, I’m local and I get absolutely pounded for the cost of cable each month for this team. YOLO I guess? ::sigh:: -
I’m a Levi truther and I’m expecting this. UPL might be able to build upon his last season and be good, but Levi is him. From your lips to God’s ears. This is the cost saving bullcrap that I need to change. I understood when they simulcasted Rick to radio because RJ is RJ. But tv PBP sent to the radio is the freaking worst. Look, I understand that almost no one is relying on radio-only to consume the Sabres…However, the last I checked, the Sabres were the only team simulcasting their tv PBP to radio. Make hockey heaven great again.

The Devs got to Prague today. Four days should be enough. The good news is the Sabres appear healthy versus NJ missing Hughes and Pesce. I’ll take it.

This is wild. Sway just called them a liar. Normally I would say the team has to blink first and sign the guy for his ask, but now the B’s have a professional reputation to uphold—all while the goalie now cannot sign for 8X8 because otherwise he looks bad for not signing for that in first place (based on Neely’s quote). This is a mess for everyone involved. I love it lol

I don’t agree. Josh was on the run a lot because he didn’t have any open receivers to throw to (especially when the Bills were down three scores and the route tree got further downfield). WR separation was a bigger problem than protection on obvious passing downs. The ball couldn’t come out on time so Josh had to deal with pressure.

@PerreaultForever, you still sure Swayman isn’t looking for 10 mil a year? And how that was a “ridiculous” report?

"If it was just me, I’d be in Rochester in training camp right now. But my kids trumped everything that I was deciding between.” After 244 games with the Rochester Americans Michael Mersch is calling it a career. https://pickinsplinters.com/2024/09/29/its-official-amerks-captain-mersch-to-announce-retirement/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3o1rPQ72Z9lvMjFTE3Ue06gsm9NMQBzTi2GtDh5yBjG_C9OQrCYfLiFRA_aem_aeNWxkDdycOXphDq0QOK_Q

I took a quick peek at the league and man it seems like there are A LOT of injuries going around for the measly preseason. Laine, Doughty, Lindgren, Panarin, Reinbacher. Raymond and Tavares have missed games due to knee on knee incidents in the preseason and Dahlin had a scare. Thank goodness the Sabres are done with exhibitions/pre-season (I think).

The Lehner saga takes another turn. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/goldenknights/robin-lehner-assets-frozen-amid-allegations-of-frivolous-spending-3178446/ “A filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas by attorneys representing creditor Aliya Growth Fund claims the company is worried it won’t receive the nearly $4.8 million Lehner and his wife, Donya Lehner, owe it because they have been transferring money from their bank accounts to non-creditors, including shell companies with apparent Dubai ties. The filing also claims the Lehners spent $1.5 million on gambling, vacations and luxury purchases following the couple’s bankruptcy filing in December 2022.”

@SDS, we have a clown shoes problem. He cannot be bothered to update his QB despite being injured in week one (Love). It appears the team has abandoned already Bye weeks are coming soon. What can be done?

I think after his extension, Cozens believed he needed to be a goal scorer to “earn” his contract. But I don’t want him to think that is his role. I want him to understand his role is “Captain Canada,” and doing all the little things to help this team win. I want him to win the important face off, or be the most defensively responsible at the end of a game, or kill the big PK, and chip in offensively. If he can grasp the jack of all trades and master of none, this team will be far better off than relying on him “being paid to score goals.” I need an all situations guy and not someone who is trying to pump 40. End of story.

I’m not in any way disagreeing with anything you said. Specific to the agencies, you’re 100% correct. However, I want to provide context as to why Fannie & Freddie exist. There are two reasons why a bank (or credit union) would prefer to hand out Fannie/Freddie money instead of their own. 1) Liquidity. This is oversimplifying, but there are stress tests for lenders. The example I would give is that a bank would need to have a dollar on deposit for every dollar they lend out. That is not the actual stress test, but it is a common sense approach. They have to stay solvent. So, what happens when the bank lends out all their available funds? They stop lending. The consumer demand for mortgages far outweighs the money banks have to lend. So they utilize Fannie/Freddie’s funds to support consumer lending needs. That’s why they exist today. 2) If the lender conforms to Fannie/Freddie’s qualification guidelines, Fannie/Freddie will help offset the bank’s losses if a loan goes bad. And why wouldn’t a lender want that? So we use them for a good reason. I won’t get into the financial crisis and the Fed bailout of these agencies which contribute to your opinion, but they serve a valuable purpose for borrowers and lenders. Just like FHA, VA, USDA, and state housing initiatives (including SONYMA in NY).
