I’d say Savoie is Briere. Benson is like Marchand without the douchiness.

I agree with others that Benson is a better all around prospect then Savoie but that doesn’t diminish Savoie but rather is a glowing endorsement of Benson. Savoie is an electric offensive player. Elite skating and offensive skills, great competitor, good at the dot. Benson isn’t as electric but he is just as efficient offensively. Where Benson gets the edge for me is the defensive side of the game. He is a tremendous defensive player and impacts the game at both ends of the ice more so than Savoie. Bottom line is I’m thrilled they have both of them.

Clifton is Power’s partner and will do well in the job. Johnson on the 3rd pair is an upgrade. I think Joker goes in a package for a goalie.

No it wasn’t agility it was straight line speed. His skating isn’t electric like Savoie’s but I don’t see a problem with his speed. He is a tremendous skater overall with a motor that never stops.

Up front you are missing Mersch and Jobst? On D you are missing Davies, Metsa and Jandric. I really like Metsa. And Komarov isn’t eligible for the AHL next year.

I remember Doug MaClean saying that when he was GM of the Jackets and they took Filatov 6th and he busted, “We took the player that all the experts ranked 6th. We took him where he was supposed to go and yet those same experts say we made a bad pick.”

So what have you heard about the goalie situation. Are they just staying out or are they looking at a guy like Hellebuyck for a year?

Drafted 6th OA in the Dahlin draft. Looking at that 1st round class it is very ugly. Dahlin, Svechnikov, B Tkachuk, Q Hughes, Dobson, K Andre Miller, Evan Bouchard and a whole lot of garbage.

No relation. Nicholas Savoie is a dman that played for Quebec who won the Memorial Cup. He partnered with Komarov quite a bit. He is on an AHL deal with Rochester.

I forgot about that. They will probably have to move Nylander for picks and then move a pick to have someone take Murray. It will be messy. No way they will be a better team then they were.

It will be Muzzin for $5.6. That wipes out Bertuzzi’ overage but if they sign Domi and Samsonov I have no clue how they solve that without trading Nylander for draft picks and then the team is worse at that point anyways

Then bring him in for a year. He will allow Levi to develop properly and he will let all the young guys to grow and develop next year. Hellebuyck/Levi will be the best tandem in the league and let them go on a long run and gain the experience they need to be successful for years to come. All that development is worth the purchase price

Bertuzzi just replaces Bunting. But it puts them over the cap and they have to somehow sign Samsonov

Muzzin on LTIR for $5.6 will wipe that overage out. They still have to sign Samsonov though or somehow get rid of Murray. Dubas really left that team in a bad way.

Oh Lou, Sorokin has to be signed but those other deals. He loves keeping his middling guys around forever.

He has said he doesn’t want to play in Canada anymore. I don’t know if him going back in that locker room is an option.

If I’m Winnipeg I’d be worried right now. Where is the market for Hellebuyck? LA are tapped out after the Dubois deal. Carolina brought their goalies back. Detroit signed Reimer and Lyon. Ottawa signed Korpisalo. Pitt brought Jarry back long term. One of the insiders said NJ moved off of Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck wants out but the options are drying up for him. If there isn’t a market I would offer Joker, UPL, VO, secondary prospect and say this is the best chance you will get to move him. Take him for a year and tell him that we can’t give you the extension you want but we can give you a year to go on a run and hit UFA when the cap goes up next year. Let this team develop with a tandem of Hellebuyck and Levi behind them, let Levi develop properly and hope next year he is established as “The Guy”.
