I Give Up
-
1) Terry feels “heard” because he is a grovelling yes man. 2) Money: he still has a contract for this season. He stands up in front of the media and takes the bullets, lying about no financial constraints and Terry’s commitment to spend. He never should have been hired and he shouldn’t still be employed but that is where we are right now. When you have owned a team for 14 years and missed the playoffs every single season you think you would want to improve but all signs point to Nope.
-
Yeah but his skill set is something Buffalo needs just as bad. If McQueen is healthy then sure take him but after Lidstrom last year there will be a ton of scrutiny on him. I think Martin doesn’t get past Boston at 7. Sweeney was at the Under 18s and Button said he was very impressed with Martin. He screams Bruin.
-
I think I’d take O’Brien over McQueen. His injury is such a red flag. The combine will be huge for him. Bear’s injury is concerning as well but he will bounce back after a year or so.
-
Jay McKee coaches O’Brien as well. I’m sure he and Ruff would touch base.

So the guys who chose Kisakov over Knies are still all comfortably in their jobs.😳🤬

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nhl-top-16-mock-draft-who-will-islanders-take-after-surprise-lottery-win/ O’Brien’s playmaking and hockey sense is something the Sabres desperately need in a 6’2, RHC package. I’d love Martin or Bear too for their style of play which the Sabres also desperately need.

How would you retool this team this summer?

The fact Adams says he grew up watching the Sabres and no one understands the market better then him yet he builds a team that doesn’t resemble anything the Buffalo market relates to: hard work, grit, toughness. Hes totally clueless -

Adams has not shown in 5 years that he can build a playoff team. If he is still the GM or has a voice in decisions then nothing is going to change -
I didn’t watch it. Did they show Adams? Good on the Sabres dropping 2 spots. They don’t deserve any reward for how horribly they have run the franchise.

Regular Season Hellebuyck>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Playoffs Hellebuyck

Jason Bakula from a month ago: No. 12: Brady Martin, C, 6-feet, 178 pounds, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) NHL Projection: Top six forward. Relentless competitor. Deployed in all situations. An argument can be made that Martin is the most competitive player in the entire draft class. He’s a relentless, leads-by-example forward for the Soo Greyhounds. In his most recent 10-game segment Martin produced 8G-11A while averaging over 24 minutes per game of ice time and being deployed in all situations. He finished the regular season with 33G-39A overall. Martin never cuts corners. He only weighs 178 pounds, but plays much bigger than his listed size. He finishes all of his checks, battles in the trenches, drives to the net and makes life generally miserable for opponents. sounds exactly like a former Sabres Captain

He is a +/- monster on all his teams. I just think the overall package he brings is something the Sabres could really use. Add him to Benson and Helenuis and start to change the culture that has been brutal for 15 years.
-
You’re absolutely right but you have to start somewhere and he would be a good add to start to build towards that type of culture. Martin isn’t a superstar talent. If he turns into a Peca that would be big. From the talent in the Sabres pipeline I think he would be a good fit as someone that drags his fellow players into the fight.
-
But we have no idea at all if the Sabres like Martin above the other options to draft him at 7. He did score again tonight for Canada. The Canadian goalie is very good and is up for the draft.Ivankovic Edit: Martin scored again. Canada dog walking Sweden 5-0 in the second period of the Championship game. Id take Martin 7th or 8th over a McQueen. He has a culture changing kind of mentality that the Sabres are in dire need of. A warrior type of player. I wouldn’t be shocked though if a Boston or Philly took him even higher regardless of rankings.
-
You would be good taking Martin at#7?
-
Drop back into the teens for Martin and pick up a player that helps now for the drop. Martin gives me Peca vibes

Why would Adams sign Sullivan when Adams has convinced himself he has a better version in Appert.😳

I would take a shot at signing Freddie Andersen and punting UPL. Andersen gets hurt but he’s a hell of a goalie when he can play. Get a couple quality defensive Dmen. Biggest thing is change up the coaching staff. Someone who excels at special teams and a D coach that can implement structure.
