  1. Who says? You? I've seen 85-90% of his games the last couple years and you know nothing of what you speak. If Sam Reinhart's work ethic is a big problem then we are all set. It's laughable how people come on and attack the guys who aren't the problem regularly (Dahlin, Eichel, Reinhart). SMH
  2. My biggest beef with Rasmus D is that he misses the net on his scoring chances too much. Other than that, I can't agree with the bolded at all. He will be an All Star in the not to distant future.
  3. We should use Lazar to win PP faceoffs. ***** call on hold
  4. People should watch Shesterkin, he is the real deal. He stole the game from the Leafs. Even Henrik said "It's Igors time now!" Had some truly outstanding numbers in KHL.
  5. He was really something, those couple of peak years he had before the nerve damage, were right up there with the best ever.
  6. This play which is being given way...to much credence as to the problem with the team, had no impact on the game. It was a goal. Again I wish solving the Sabres problems was as simple as you believe. Just work a little harder and all is good. The good players setting a bad example Yadda Yadda Yadda We are struggling mostly because we don't have enough talent and have injuries to boot. Look, I know people are frustrated and it easy to focus on the stars and look for petty little things. Jack isn't McDavid, only 95% of him and crap like that. This whole Reinhart thing is beyond petty and misses the point, because it had no bearing on the outcome of the game. Now the Montour defensive lapse goal is a bigger problem, not an effort issue. But, the fact that he would leave the front in that situation is mind boggling.
  7. The watershed event mentally for this team was when Tampa took advantage of us during the 2 game series. Guys like Maroon, Kucherov and Cernak were taking liberties and we wussied out. Oh and our talent level is inferior and injured to a certain extent.
  8. I get the blood and guts that every coach tries to instill in his players. The reality is the play people are complaining about happens multiple times every game. Keeping your feet moving all the time may a nice goal, but it doesn't occur. Players have an internal instinct at work, especially strong offensive players, they skate hard to a spot and then analyze where to go next. For all we know he started gliding to see his next move towards a rebound after realizing the shot wasn't going to be prevented. Gliding is sometimes the right play. I could see Jack doing the same thing or not catching Larkin going full speed. Look ideally everyone skates and moves their feet all the time, won't happen. And, if this was the biggest problem the Sabres have we'd be all set as a franchise. It is an ongoing battle between players and coaches when a player stops and comes up short and a rebound goes in. It happens on teams as good as the Bruins with Marchand. Coach gets on them, they focus on it for awhile, drift away from when there's no goals against, no harm no foul and then bingo it happens. Cycle repeats. Again I wish this was our biggest problem.
  9. I understand they were involved in hiring the GM, Pegulas are not absentee owners for sure. They still delegate to the GM much decision making, and it hasn't worked out. Time to move on.
  10. Mr. Montour should focus on not leaving the front of the net player wide open to chase the player facing him with the puck behind the goalline! That was perhaps the worst play I saw all night. That was a squirt play.
  11. Does everyone move their feet 100% of the time and all the way to the puck? As for the coattails, you don't think he knows thats' Dylan Larkin who skated a 13.1? You really think he gave a pathetic effort to skate all the way back from the corner and that he didn't give the obligatory team effort? I mean it looked like he skated his ass off and human nature kicked in and he realized I ain't catching this guy. Happens a million times every game, when its a problem is when a rebound exists-which it didn't because the clock was running out and everyone knew it. Hockey players know and coaches know this situation occurs all the time. Making way too much of this.
  12. Is that Dick Cheney? Dude was everywhere a decade ago influencing things.
  13. Whether it is luck as you say or what not, Pegulas aren't the ones making the personnel decisions. From everything I've heard about them, you can criticize naivete, but Jerry Jones they are not. Not hard to fathom a situation where JBot is canned now, and a better decision maker comes in and improves things. Whether that is luck or not is really irrelevent. The NHL also provides assistance to teams who need help finding decision makers. The problem is too many bad decisions by the GM. Their hire didn't work out, move on
  14. Isn't that what people said about Jack last year? I get it that people are frustrated, hell I am, but channel the frustration at the right thing........GM JB. You make enough bad decisions and it comes back to haunt you! Poorly constructed team, don't let him off the hook by blaming Reinhart, he has generally played pretty well. Some are even taking shots at Jack for being 95% of McDavid, Dahlin not being the best D in the league at 19 etc.....those things are not the problem. I'm not sure Mark Messier could lead this group of clowns.
  15. He should have asked the reporter why he sucks at his job.
  16. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/02/03/opinion/deadliest-virus-we-face-is-complacency/ Read the link within the article as well. The question with a low probability event with the magnitude of impact a pandemic can have is, can you afford for the worst case scenario to happen? It's kind of like making bets without proper attention to the payouts. As I said, our world is more mobile than ever, this can cause enormous problems if not handled properly. People call it fear mongering and then cite stats to support their opinions , it's a small risk on the other side of the world etc. I'm not saying we need to run around worrying about this, but what if the information the public is getting from the media is wrong? And, politicians (both sides), decide that it such a small risk that we don't want to impact the economy. Again, I'm saying that we need panic in the streets, but these events are important and shouldn't be cast aside lightly. As the article states this type of event could pose a much bigger risk than climate change.
  17. These things are a matter of scale....2% now can be a much larger number in a hurry and be a wipeout of catastrophic proportions. I'm glad it appears we are doing the right things, cutting down on mobility etc. Remember, just because something is a small probability event, don't ignore it or play politics with it.
  18. Good post, I agree with pretty much everything. I don't believe in RK, and for me that colors everything. I see him as a guy who's savvy and has a good line. When I heard him say the other day paraphrasing, " analytics is part of the equation, but it's a really a small part, I mean we watch the games in slow motion so......" Now I'm not beholden to the stats, but when I see Stats like someone showed above about Skinner/Jack and Reinhart/ Jack and it's not taken into account then something is really ***** up. I feel like RK as HC should be trying to maximize success for his players, and he's failed mightily. RK seems to believe throwing anyone on the LW as a balance defensively to his top 2 scorers is ludicrous. Or, putting his #1 sniper last year on a line with Erod and Girgs is absurd. JBot has a lot to answer for as well, because a good 2C would have made a huge difference from the beginning. He seems to have put all his eggs on Casey M, which was a dumb thing to do. If it's me, I'm not afraid of a little redundancy. Get a good 2C, it's too important, and if Casey had worked out...great. Cross that bridge when we come to it.
  19. Mojo has a pea-shooter shot, doesn't go to the dirty areas, and overhandles the puck. He had a nice run in the playoffs as a complimentary piece, he's not a lead dog as a player.
