Yes indeed. They hung in there but had very few opportunities in the 3rd. They are on a back to back so the third period is rough. Taking a very late penalty hurt. I thought the ref could have let that go, it was incidental tic tak. Of course we fail to clear and give up a goal with one second left in their PP.

Why did he think LaFontaine could be a POHO ?? Great player, excellent guy, a true humanitarian as well. But no Front Office experience in the NHL other than 6 weeks as a senior advisor to the Islanders Owner. There were red flags there. He lasted 3 months in Buffalo. Was it a star struck hire? What else could it have been? Terry is spooked by this bad hire, who also brought in a terrible GM on top of it. The POHO should have GM and coaching experience. A person who has worked his way through, and up the ranks, and is respected.

Yes, Lorentz was willing to take a beating to get his goals. Another great pickup back in the day when our GM made move to improve the team. Lorentz cost us a 2nd rounder (to Rangers) and that player saw the NHL. Why our GM can’t find a few better players with all the capital stockpiled is crazy. A good GM could fix this. We need about 4 players to be competitive.

The temperature is getting higher here than it should. I’m not buying that he “needs” to sell them. I would say to just do what the Knox’s did. Hire the best people you can get, look for winning NHL pedigree at the highest levels of the organization like POHO and GM. What flows down from them will be good. Step away and let them do their job. Provide resources and help establish a winning and first class culture.

Is or was? Prior to this season I think many people would have agreed with you, and many more wanted to believe you. Compared to Quinn, JJP is physically stronger and more durable, he skates better with quicker acceleration, and he is more willing to get dirty in the offensive zone and get around the net. His play lacks in the defensive zone, and that should improve with age and experience (and coaching). Even with his recent slump, JJP is on a 24 goal and 60 point pace - this is his 3rd full season and he turns 23 in January. He might not reach 24/60 playing with Cozens/Quinn/Benson, but he is at least 2nd line material on this team. He needs to work on the two way game more. He looks like a guy that would thrive on a good team. Quinn is also in his 3rd full season (last year he missed a lot due to serious injury) and he is on a 9 goal and 19 point pace. He has a team low -15. He is passing up opportunities to shoot and his defensive play is mostly non-existent. There is no physical aspect to his game, he fell twice against Toronto while losing puck battles. The falling down is a sign of a player that is being overpowered and is not confident. At one time he looked like a smart player that sees the ice, and can make crisp passes and shoot accurately, but that part of his game is gone. His defensive game looks to be behind his peers (Peterka, Benson, Cozens and Kulich). Peterka, Benson, Cozens, Kulich, Quinn - I rank them in that order right now based on this season. I like Peterka and Benson the best of that bunch, the other 3 are a full step down in on-ice performance. Kulich shows promise but should be sent down so as not to lose his AHL eligibility. We have too many young players that are lost and regressing, that fold under pressure, and that cannot play a heavy game. Adams did it wrong but a good GM would have a lot of capital to fix it.
