The Sabres are already in the state you describe. Lots of people in Buffalo have stopped going to games and many do not care about them. They are not popular at all. They really do not not have many young fans when compared to the Bills or Bandits. Looking at Southern Ontario, WNY, and Rochester area and it is hard to see that they are growing the fan base at all. But the Bills are. Pegula selling them to an outside owner for relocation is not very likely since this could have repercussions on the Bills. Best hope is a consortium of local owners pools together to buy the team from Terry. The

I loved the late 60’s Bisons. That was a highly competitive and colorful cast of characters. I distinctly remember them playing the Amerks when Don Cherry was still playing. He started a few brawls and jawed and then laughed about it. I thought that was pretty cool.

I finally watched the replays and the post game interviews. Lindy - (emphatically) no, they did not take the Sharks likely, they were warned. Byram - (lazily) yes, we may have taken them lightly. Byram was wearing a hat with SABRES spelled upside down and backwards. That sums up the team. Someday I would like my hockey team to have adults on it. I’m not a fan of booing, but the booing at the end of the game was well earned.

The Sabres have had a problem attracting good players, coaches, and front office Execs long before Adams was around. I am not defending Adams, he is unqualified and proving himself to be incompetent. But from Day 1 Pegula has made a baffling string of bad decisions, the biggest being his inability, or unwillingness, to let an experienced NHL Exec run the show. You are older, and so I am. To put it in simplest terms Pegula is the opposite of Knox. Knox was soft spoken but competitive, and he hired the BEST he could. Imlach and Bowman were Cup winners. He let them do the job and he sat in his gold seats for just about every game. A class act all the way. Terry proclaimed that the Sabres "reason for existence is to win Stanley Cups!", and then he oversaw the destruction of the team. He lost games on purpose, he ruined the team culture, and he has destroyed the Sabres brand.

When he is healthy he is pretty good for what he is. If we have to overpay a bit for two seasons then so be it. We need him, or a few players like him. I have no confidence that Adams can replace him either. If I were a player like Greenway I would look for a team that could win, but then again finances are important for players considering most do not last 10 seasons in the NHL. This contract gets him to seasons 8 and 9.

True on the one deal. It was a red flag. Adam’s going on the road trip to spy on the team was another red flag.

Some good points although the popular coach really needed to go. The coach search was a sham. All it’s done is make me think less of Lindy, which is not fair I know. Anyone still blame Eichel for wanting out? Once that happened Reinhart leaving was automatic. If you are Tage and Dahlin you have to be wanting to leave.

Agree they should look outside but Terry likes people he “knows”. People that listen to him. So of the two insiders, Karmanos or Forton, I would pick Karmanos. By far the only choice if he goes internal.
