  2. Enroth handed me a puck for my son after the pregame skate in Raleigh. I can't not root for the guy.
  3. http://twitter.com/duffersabres/status/309080501468139520/photo/1 I just photo bombed Brian duffs twitter
  4. At buffalo brothers on capitol blvd in Raleigh if anyone wants to come out for a beer. Sitting in 317 for game.
  5. Congrats to Lindy... I'm glad that he thanked the Knox family, the Rigas', the Pegulas, Darcy, the players, and threw Bettman under the No Goal bus one more time. Only when he mentioned the fans and WNY did he tear up, especially when talking about his daughter. This man is Buffalo for life and he will forever be a Buffalo Sabre.
  6. I'm willing to bet the house that this is how it went down. In the meantime, I'm sure that Darcy's roster control has been stripped and he's playing out this year. Then he'll be gone too. Lindy and Darcy had a great run, but even they will tell you that its time to move on. This will be good for everyone. Coach for rarely if ever works out. Look at Woody Hayes, Andy Reid, hell, look at Joe Paterno. Gregg Popovich, Dean Smith, John Wooden are a few that come to mind as successful. They're few and far between. Back to Darcy though... He did the noble thing yesterday. Ruff had to have known that he was a goner sooner than later and his friend was doing all he could. In the end though, I agree with your assessment. Darcy was fighting for his job yesterday and was given an offer he couldn't refuse for his own temporary stay of execution.
  7. I was born in 1978 and my father used to take me to games when I was VERY young, probably 3 or 4. One of my first memories is of buying peanuts from the stand outside the aud. I missed the Malarchuk game, but saw it on TV. To be honest, I don't have many memories of the players from very early on, but I do remember Perrault, Ruff, Foligno (neighbor of mine, sold his house to another neighbor of mine. To protect his anonymity, he will remain nameless. Lets just say, he's starting on a new career path as of 3 pm yesterday), Edwards (went to school with his daughter), and Turgeon. My greatest moment at the Aud was the very last game. We had tickets in the reds, section 15, row L. Sat right next to the trumpet guy. That whole experience so so surreal. It was just a normal hockey game, then it ended, and that was that. Seymour looked very sick on the TV clips, but there wasn't a soul in that building that didn't understand that we were all looking at a dying man giving his own eulogy rather than one for the Aud. The banners coming down was cool, but the end when they passed the puck around and LaFontaine scored at the end... That was very powerful stuff. We must have sat there in the dark for about 10-15 minutes before we slowly walked out. I was so glad to have been there, but in hindsight, I should have brought a camera.
  8. Well this one should be about the most interesting regular season game since February 24, 2007. LETS GO BUFFALO!!!! Edit: yeah, I broke rules by starting this one 3 hours early... Sorry!
  9. Now I'm holding back tears. Yes, it was absolutely time to make a change, but this guy bleeds blue and gold just as much as we do. Lindy Ruff is always a Buffalo Sabre and will forever be. He's also a good Clarence resident whom I've had plenty of chances to talk to around town. I truly feel bad for him and really REALLY angry at about every single player on that team, minus the few that gave 100% this season. The rest caused Darcy to be disgusted. I'm embarrassed.
  10. PC Started... Darcy appears to hold back emotions as he reads the canned "thanks lindy" statement Darcy states that Ron Rolston will be INTERIM HC for the remainder of the season. Question: When did this move start? answer: recent. Q:breaking point? A:today Q:fans impact? did darcy fire ruff under direct orders of pegula? a: Darcy refutes the question and waffles. No answer, seems flustered. No answers on the fans... a lot of waffling here; last game was "a tipping point" Darcy "its a tough day" Q: do you feel responsible for the team? A: a bunch of Communication 101 responses. Q: did lindy lose the team? A: no, in respect to communication. Q: Are you worried about your own future? A: emphatic "no", then less emphatic"not at this time" Timing of the decision? He was basically fired during practice and informed after. Q: did darcy have to have TP sign off? A: no, but he had conversations with TB, TP I don't have video, but Darcy seems to be crying or coming very close to losing it. Q: McCormick question, roster A: Kevin porter to be brought up Q: Is Darcy angry at the players for their lack of production? A: How much time do you want to talk about this? He then went back to Communication 101 speak Q: how should lindy be remembered? A: and the waterworks begin... Now, I'm getting choked up too... Quite frankly, this is tough to listen to right now.

  12. Didn't don cherry coach the amerks?
  13. #1, I don't know that they didn't offer that up. #2, I agree. Sad day but excited for the change. This is the end of an era. #3, If he doesn't stay with the sabres in some capacity, Lindy will be successful again, just like he was from 1997-2001. He just was stuck with bankruptcy and cap mismanagement after our 2 year run post-lockout. Overall, he missed the playoffs more than he made them, but he's a great coach. Just time for a change... #4, I concur. Good luck Lindy!!! #5, Thanks!
  14. And she'll be on letterman in 10 years and that clip will be shown as a "before they were stars" bit
  15. Outstanding sabremetrics. Clears up everything!

  17. Time waits for no man, except Chuck Norris.
  18. It doesnt matter. This team is not built for a long playoff run. See bruins 2010, flyers 2011.
