I'm saying a trade for Bennett to replace Sheehan as Lazar and Skinner's Center would be a vast improvement for both the line, and the team overall. And although it's opinion, it's backed by the both testimonials from players and pundits alike across the league on Bennett's game play. In short, it does 0 harm. Minimal risk.

Yep. And to think, the Devils had him on the trade block last season. -

This team needs passion, it needs killer instinct, it needs hear and soul play imho. They lack it, those players that give it their all. But, they aren't far off from being a playoff contender. -

From your mouth to the hockey God's ear. -
Im talking straight out about Bennett's reported (per TSN and his agent) ask for a trade out of Calgary for their reported betrayal of telling him he'll play center then not doing it. Lazar/Skinner line could most certainly use an upgrade over Sheehan, Bennett is younger, faster, more physical and more grit player. You bring that in, just my opinion is all.

Why wait? He's demanded a trade out of Calgary so TSN reports. Get him here and stick him as Lazar and Skinner center. We need heart and soul, Bennett brings it. -
? We're talking about Sheehan here. I fail to see the correlation.

Sam Bennett I'm a full on "get him in a Sabres Jersey advocate. -
I think Bennett centering Skinner and Lazar is a fast, hard nosed, offensive zone puck possession eater with higher scoring chances, more O zone wear down time on the opposition and higher pressure overall line than Sheehan centering Lazar and Skinner. Anytime an opportunity presents itself to better the team, short term or long term, given Bennetts age, you pull the trigger. After all, it isn't as though the Sabres are burning up the league in control of play, physical play and passion overall on the ice game in and game out. Is it a risk? Aren't all trades/acquisitions? But, you make the moves necessary to address, and Bennett, in my most humbled opinion, given his play style acumen, is a low risk high reward scenario worth playing out.

Actually, yes, he is.

Bennett brings something to the table many say this team has lacked for over a decade now. Passion. He's very much known as a heart and soul type player that plays tenaciously. While you may be indifferent to that type of player, many of us aren't.

Friedman reporting Bennett has asked for a trade out of Calgary. Bennett's agent confirms? Bennett looking for center position time, so the report goes. Buffalo, Calgary talked trade a month or so back, I believe the convo was goalie and a forward? Staal, 36 on 1 year deal, Buffalo will need another? Is there a deal to be had here?

Lets just get the win. Not interested in individual statistics, just win the game as a team. -
Out of our jurisdiction, no? 😉

Appreciate the input as always Tom. With that being said, Eichel being off shouldn't impact the entirety of the line up as we witnessed last night. Not to really not pick here, because for those first 5 games they played well enough to win in 4 of them, but if we're being candid, last night was a complete team breakdown in nearly every facet of the game. Like yourself, I expect the team to improve as the season progresses, however, I don't attribute that to coaching strategies in so much as knocking some rust off from the long break and feeling out the play of the roster additions. I know I can be a broken record on this Tom, and I'm merely going off what some call the eye test, as opposed to analytics, but puck possession is a very real issue with this team. They do not fight for possession with any consistent success and there is definitive timid play both in the O as well as D play and it definitely is being utilized by other teams strategies, the words been out about the Sabres, the panic easily under pressure, they make many forced as well as unforced errors. A team learning to grow together? Sure, I'll bite. But at what point do we see consistent progress on growth with some of the players having been together their entire NHL careers? At what point do the puck possession numbers reflect this, not scoring chances, but actually controlling and dictating the course of games? I'm not a glass is half empty fan, these are questions I have as I watch the team is all. The eye test. -

I saw a lot of great plays and passes by the Rangers. They had great breakout passes, smooth, no bouncy. I saw a great forecheck, puck battle victories, skating harder to the puck, creating open space with their legs for passes and they just put on an offensive zone puck possession clinic as they were all over the Sabres in every period. -

well folks, we were fortunate to get a point. So, I keep reading on here about how this team is top whatever in analytics, or the missed scoring chances excuse, failure to finish, yada yada yada. I try to stay positive in season, but, I say this every GDT it seems like, this team has a real problem with puck possession and that killer extinct. Am I right? -
