  1. I feel that even if we make great strides this year and just miss that this could work itself out next year. We missed out on some deals I would have been ok with. Now the cost will be a factor for anyone who will make that difference. If a deal comes along that would make that difference then I expect KA to jump on it. If he decides to pay a high price, so be it and I'll accept it based on my confidence in him. Just for interest....can anyone who follows the other leagues tell me if there are any goalies we might be able to bring over to fill the spot? Older vet or other that maybe no one is thinking about?
  2. And yet some argue about how bad our prospect pool is. I'd like to make the playoffs too but as someone pointed out recent trades (some of which I wish we were in on) I don't think it's necessary to pay that much.
  3. J. Allen cost a 3rd and a 7th, just for info sake. Not that it matters much.
  4. You are assuming that I am the one who brought up using a 1st rd pick AND that I agree to giving up a 1st for a goalie. Let me assure you that I don't and I was just adding to the convo. My stand is that IF Adams ( I promise you I am not him) were to trade a 1st + for a goalie, it better be a very good one. At the right price I think most players are available, whether to pay that price is the question. So, I think we agree on more than you think.
  5. I'm also assuming that if we're trading a 1st for a goalie that we're not talking about the scrap leftover UFA's. So, I assume if we're trading a 1st rd pick for a goalie then yes, I expect that player to push us into the playoffs, especially with our other additions. A compressed schedule this year will demand that type player. Do you think Carey Price will play 60 games in a compressed schedule? The need for 2 quality goalies will be evident. As far as who is available...for a 1st rd pick and maybe a sweetener, many could be available and if not then don't make a trade.
  6. You also have to consider if the goalie you're trading for potentially gets you to the playoffs. The value of that 1st rd pick is not Cozens nor Quinn, and not only in the players value but also the future of the team. Sometimes you're even looking at 2nd line players moving into the first round depending on how far you go in the playoffs.
  7. And at the final buzzer Allen throws the ball out of the stadium.
  8. Welcome @chloewoj The fun begins. Hope to see your input to the boards.
  9. Hope things get better for you before you get to UFA. Lucky for you that you haven't had to endure much of the drought. When the winning begins you will be sucked in like most of us and you won't be able to get enough.
  10. I got that same thing for my son years ago and had it signed by Peca at a mall signing.
  11. Just adding to your claims. You: hours before payment of bonus the trade is made. Me: other deal(s) such as Carolina required Sabres pay bonus. Both lend to the assumption that paying (or not) was a factor.
  12. Also, coincidence that other deals required the payment of said bonus be paid by Sabres. So I agree.
  13. On a side note.... I can't wait to see Ruotsalainen come to the states. He could be a great depth add. I am cozying up to the fact we're talking about bottom six players now. It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood. Sorry that I derailed the topic.
  14. I think a better answer to my post would've been.... "Bogo played for TB last, so now if TO were to win the cup, he would be an ex-Tampa player and they take the heat for it". Agree that TO should NEVER win the cup.
  15. Now that we should have good secondary scoring I'm more concerned about how they take care of the PK.
  16. I knew I'd take some flack for that one but couldn't resist the history lesson.
  17. Fair enough. But maybe we all should see how the lines shake out. Who knows for sure Skinner doesn't end up with Jack.
  18. I think we all (Skinner too) should look at it as a positive. Skins seems to be a team guy who is harder on himself and wants the team to succeed. With knowing Staal and Hall, I think he'll be just fine. Winning will solve alot. I also see the possibilities in the flexibility of this line-up to be helpful in many ways in obtaining their goals. Is there some factual evidence that leads you to believe Skinner is unhappy or is it just your opinion?
  19. Or perhaps BOGO wins 2 consecutive cups. Buy1/get1 free.
