  1. I wasn't sure where to put this, but the sentiments and themes here seemed to make it a better fit than in the free agent thread. This is the strangest comment I heard today and if you want to you can easily dismiss it, but maybe also consider it carefully and as objectively as you can. On Sportsnet, during their "Signing Season" free agent broadcast, they got Montour on the phone for his reaction comments (to getting one of the best deals on the day from his perspective, an overpay imo but whatever). They asked him about being back in the west where he started and how he got there and he said this: "we (using that hockey player WE thing) started in Anaheim and then we went somewhere out east, I guess you could say Buffalo......." I mean what the genuine f%ck is that? How do you say that and what are you trying to say? He's only played on 4 teams now, the memory can't be that bad, but how and why would you word it that way instead of just saying started in Anaheim, went to Buffalo and then here in Florida. Just consider it. Personally I think it says everything.
  2. Well I don't see him becoming the new John Tucker if that's what you're thinking 🙂
  3. Zucker is a huge overpay and a 1 year deal. I have to think this was a plan B deal when a plan A fell through. Who that is idk, maybe Bertuzzi or DeBrusk. If it was a plan A deal I'd think more term.
  4. Will he? I'm going to suggest no, no he won't. Pens will be moving him at the deadline.
  5. Ya, I said this on one of the threads. The 4th line he assembled looks more like a typical NHL 4th line now and not a mish mash of fading rejects but the roster as a whole isn't any better than it was. Teams around us got better. Some substantially better. We have money. Unless we get a late bargain this is a bust.
  6. You're crazy. You and Kev.
  7. but no Crosby extension at this point. Notice that too.
  8. I watch a lot of hockey and a lot of teams and know a lot of players names but every year I have to look up who the f these guys are with Sabres signings. Nothing burgers all around.
  9. who the f did he get???? Look what the competition did. How are we moving up on that with what we added???? Bruins managed Lindholm AND Zadorov.
  10. So, he basically got nothing done. Nothing big anyway. Typical.
  11. Didn't exactly fly off the shelf in free agency did he.
  12. So your point would be Philly doesn't know what it's doing with goalies? Possibly, but my Philly friends think Sandstrom is garbage. Goalies are weird, it's fine. Rochester and if Levi craps out and has to go back I guess he can back up and be mediocre.
  13. Are we better? Is that a serious question? Really? Skinner out Zucker in. Krebs is your 3C. A new 4th line of marginal NHLers might fit the look of an NHL 4th line better but really, nobody there of note. The young goalies have to be good (and in UPL's case signed), the D is thin and soft overall, the young forwards have to have much better years under Ruff than they had just to even stay competitive. Meanwhile Boston adds Lindholm and Zadorov. Leafs add Tanev and OEL. Tampa gets a little younger swapping our Stamkos for Guentzel so they stay competitive. Florida managed to hold onto Reinhart. Only Ottawa seems as inept but even they added a top notch goalie. How the F do you think you're going to make the playoffs jumping over any of that?
  14. Adams just can't stop shopping in the basement.
  15. Yup, that looks like the 4th line. I like it better than what we had last year. It has more of an actual 4th line look, but it's marginal NHL at best. Not good enough imo.
  16. I like Lafferty. He's fine. I like this better than bringing back Girgs but it won't change much.
  17. This is the guy Philly gave up on right? Whatever.
  18. He isn't a bad hockey player but to me this screams fall back after missing out on an actual top forward who either didn't want to come here or moved above their price for that player (maybe a DeBrusk or a Bertuzzi, Stephenson, etc.) So a 1 year deal and we will no doubt end up flipping him at the deadline.
  19. Depends on the price obviously but he's greasy and we need that sort of net front so other guys start to learn it too. Line him up with 2 skill guys and also use him on the PP. Defensive liability, but he was one of the best Leafs in the playoffs.
  20. Domi extended and Tanev signed so Bertuzzi anyone?
  21. I'm going to bet their deadline target will be his brother too. They always go shopping for playoff grit guys and he will likely be on the block then unless the Kraken surprise big time and are in a playoff position themselves.
  22. Or, because I'm not a western new yorker I don't have my head buried in the snow 🙂 Look, we can have this argument every year (and we do) and many things by many people are guesses, "reaches", and assertions and so forth but over enough time some things start to look obvious. The proof is in what actually happens not what we wish would happen. How many times now has Adams said "players have to want to be here" in various excuse pressers about trades that didn't happen or moves that were underwhelming at best. The narrative repeats and repeats, so believe what you want, but the only proof, as I said, is in what actually happens.
  23. Cause you don't want to waste your time looking up something you already know and you don't want to alienate your own players.
  24. A Rochester contract. Two way league minimum sure, I'd be fine with Bryson getting that, but with no plans to use him at the NHL level. He gets waived and sent down beginning of the year.
  25. It's summer, so let us turn to ball hockey rather than ice hockey. Most of you have probably seen the guy who calls himself "The Hockey Guy" on youtube. This video amused the heck out of me today. The "Hockey Guy" is really really really bad at hockey.
