  1. With the exception of McAvoy (and maybe Lysell last year) Bruins drafting has been sh## . They've mostly added FAs and made late season trades to stay competitive with that perfection line. They definitely do however, try to fit players into the existing style they have and favour. That team definitely reflects Cam Neely sitting at the top as overseer.
  2. Bigger is maybe the wrong word but they do play bigger. They are stronger, bulkier, bigger upper body overall. I mean guys like the dreaded and hated Marchand are small guys but for their size are really strong. The eye test indicates they are "bigger" in terms of muscle mass. Not height. For example, Dahlin is an inch taller than McAvoy but upper body McAvoy is much bigger and definitely stronger.
  3. The espn+ guys talked about this situation far too much tonight. Adams really needs to get this over and done with or it will leak back into the "new culture" .
  4. I agree with this. Bruins were not physical at all. 2 or 3 good hits maybe in the whole game.
  5. Well at least Ullmark didn't get the shutout, that would have been really irritating. Truth be told Bruins aren't all that impressive and I'm not sure they are a playoff team. Maybe, but not what they used to be. Still good defensively but not all that offensively. I think we had moments and the style and scheme and everything is fine, but you all can see what happens up against a good defensive team. Bruins block shots, get in shooting lanes, deflect or intercept passes and basically just bother and irritate and knock the other team off their game. Hence we looked a step off at times, passes didn't connect and plays didn't get finished. It is what it is, but this is going to take a long time and we are still a tank team. Cozens has a lot of skill, but I really think we've rushed him and a year in Rochester would have given him a better development curve. Espn+ is weird and wrong and just like little league. Do they have no commercials? Broadcast was just choppy and messy . Not good for the NHL.
  6. Bergeron is looking a little slow but Marchand is Marchand. They look kind of the same imo. They check really well but don't score a lot. Not sure how they'll react if Ullmark lets in a soft one or two but get ready to lament not drafting McAvoy. He impressed the hell out of me and will likely dominate. Foligno is out for the game. Pasternak might be ready to break out. I'm just excited to see how or if we can measure up at all against our first decent opponent. The first 3 let us play our game, Bruins might not. Will be interesting to see how we adapt and/or adjust. and of course...........Ullmark.
  7. Hey man, you haven't attacked or critiqued me in a while I've missed ya . Kisses. 1am for you is 10 pm for me. I've been around long enough and said it enough times for you to realize I'm on the west coast but if you still want to believe I post late so you can't respond go ahead, it's all about you after all. Reality is I often come in late by your standards, nothing I can do about that. Bottom line, not sure why you typed your sentence. The point was pretty clear if you stop to think for a second. Reinhart was our best player end of last season. Don't think you'd disagree with that would you? In any event, assuming he is playing at the same level, he'd be our best player this year. In Florida, he's a third liner. Is there really more that needs to be added???? If you want to believe we measure up to teams like that well, I'm really not sure what to say to you. I guess.........
  8. I saw that Boston Philly affair. Don't see us being at that level, but Boston did seem slower at times so maybe if they let us skate we can compete with them. McAvoy is a beast though. Nobody on our side at that level right now.
  9. So for all the bandwagoneers over excited by 3-0 how does what we have match up? Ya, that's what I thought.
  10. If you insist.
  11. That was always the problem here. Team rarely if ever demoted players for poor play. Only Skinner really got that treatment. Different story with Florida. They're not going to accept "he always starts slow" as if that's acceptable or normal.
  12. Of course I know. I just felt like calling him on it. The whole meme thing is pretty tired. (and yes, I realize that invites even more for those on the easy path)
  13. Going to respectfully disagree, but at least you didn't say The Mighty Ducks ๐Ÿ™‚ Les Boys isn't horrible either if you like the whole Quebec thing.
  14. Need to get a little bit of a grip here, teams currently sitting in playoff spots with us are Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim. New Jersey is undefeated. Surely you realize this is not how the season will end up.
  15. I enjoyed Goon, but it's no Slap Shot.
  16. lol, but ya, I was happy to see him go too.
  17. You can "wrong" all you like but my comment wasn't. I saw him and he didn't impress me. obviously didn't impress the Kraken either. Obviously not a significant sample size just saying the excitement over him being available might not be warranted.
  18. I saw a Kraken game with him in it. He didn't impress me. Eakin's only out for a few games I think so I would just dress Hayden on that line and move Girgs to center. Juggle lines a little during the games maybe to give more ice time to anyone having a good night but otherwise don't rock the boat until it starts leaking.
  19. I hope not. So sick of this.
  20. Oh come on, now I'm all happy with how things have gone so far but Adams hasn't "brought in' anybody. Bjork was a throw in for a deal because the Bruins couldn't fit him in under the cap (Lazar was cheaper). Bjork was benched in Beantown and Caggiula was a cast off. Old goalies nobody wanted? retread D men teams had given up on. You make it sound like they deeply analyzed these guys skill sets and designed around them and that's just nonsense. It's all about the kids. The system, it's not that different from what Housley proposed. I still think this is a tank team, and I still think that's the plan, but that includes a tear down and a culture shift and maybe they are getting that part right. In a typical Sabres way, maybe they can't even tank properly lol.
  21. He doesn't strike me as a very emotional guy. More of a thinker. Definitely not a Tortorella type, Maybe a Roger Neilson. Most likely a Craig Ramsey. What we have to wait for is to see how the team adapts to adversity. It's all fine when the opposition lets you play your scheme, but we will run up against teams that won't pretty soon and how he adjusts and adapts to that will tell us a lot more about how good a coach he might be.
  22. Wow, that is some lofty praise after a mere 3 games against crap opponents. The thing Granato has going for him here that his predecessors didn't is there are no "names" on this roster. Oh sure, maybe Dahlin and even Cozens are top tier prospects or young players but they haven't made a name for themselves yet. Nobody here is bigger than the coach. Nobody is super important. Skinner and his huge contract, will he buy in? I'm not so sure, time will tell. But overall, this is an egalitarian bunch and nobody is the big shot who can go their own way. There's a system, there's an identity. idk if Granato tailored this system to the talent and skills he had to work with or that was just his system for this nhl and he fit them into it (I think the former, but just guessing). We shall see how it holds up, how it responds to adversity, and if it'll work as games get tougher. I'm skeptical. (and just for the record, Lindy's undefeated so far this season too :0)
  23. Well you did say punch them in the face , like it's a thing the Sabres ever do (any more). The good news (?) is we get Ullmark now.
  24. Looks like they might be the actual team with the inside track for Wright.
